We NEED a third retro DKC game!

I just rebought DKC:TF on the Switch after not having played it for a few years and

As soon as you get to Busted Bayou you already know you are witnessing gaming perfection.

And it cannot end just yet - who the hell cares about Star Fox Racing and Metroid? Gimme the dong right now.

3D World-style stage-based 3D or bust. No more side-scrolling, no collectathon bullshit. Fill the void left by Mario and keep it tough.

Honestly I'm fine with DK taking a break for awhile. We got two great games under Retro's wing, with Tropical Freeze now on Switch, and we just got K. Rool back through Smash Bros. I'm fine with Retro working on different things for now...like Star Fox.

I'd like to see them take on a 2D sprite-based Super Mario sidescroller to be honest. All-new pixel sprite aesthetic. A straight-up AAA sprite based 2D Super Mario sidescroller.

DKCR is an okay game.
Tropical Freeze is a perfect game.

They have nothing left to prove.

I'm a huge fan of Tropical Freeze, but I actually think there is no need whatsoever for another one just yet. A DKC game using the 3D World formula or a Diddy Kong Racing sequel, hell to the yeah. I would also welcome a HD port of Returns before another new entry.

I 200%'d it in like 3 days after it came out on Switch. A masterpiece.

I sign on to this 100x. Please have this in your plans NIntendo. We need a sequel to the best 2D platformer of all time.

Nope. It's time Nintendo to leave 2D platforming business to the indies. They cover the genre perfectly, no need for Nintendo to waste more funds and resources for a genre that has enough masterpieces on the platform.

Next DK game needs to be a 3D game. This is what people are craving for.

However, since DKTF on Switch is doing quite well, we probably don't need it just yet.

Eventually we definitely need a 3rd Donkey Kong Country Returns game, but this time with the glorious return of King K. Rool and his Kremlings!

I'd definitely rather Retro have made another DKC than go four years with no announcements.

Plus now that K. Rool's back Nintendo can actually let Retro use the character. I'd still prefer a 3D DK game over another sidescroller.

i recently played TF for the first time on switch and it was SO GOOD, it was like pure platforming heaven. but i still think i'd prefer if retro were working on something else. the star fox game sounds fun and i'm sure retro can pull it off amazingly.
i'd take a HD version of returns tho.

plus the DK dlc for mario+rabbids. DK can take a seat for now imo.

This is one of those cases where I can appreciate the artistry and skill involved in making the game, but having lacked any childhood with these types of games Tropical Freeze just wrecked me completely when I got to world 5 or 6 or thereabouts. The complete ass whooping I received was basically 90 minutes of ceaseless suffering on account of my 2d platforming scrub-tier skills and I just permanently put the game aside. In theory I guess I could start a whole new game in Cranky Mode or something but after having invested so much time and frustration even getting to the point I did I just don't feel like I want to do that, nor do I really want to try again where I got up to.

Yeah, how about no. The DK series is fine the way it is now, I don't understand why so many people on here are obssesed with trying to force the series back to it's arcade roots. A third DKC from Retro would be fantastic, whether they are working on something else alongside it or not. I'd also love the series to make the jump to 3D again, but I still see plenty of potential in a third DKC game from Retro.

I didn't play the first but Tropical Freeze is brilliant. Another game in the series would be a day one buy for me.

Yes, please! I just picked up a Switch two weeks ago and have been cracking through Tropical Freeze.

It is a masterpiece.

The level design, art style, and controls are absolutely brilliant. But the OST!! Amazing.

They didn't need to ask anything. They could just use the kremlings and not say anything. My point is that it's ridiculous to blame people that didn't even produce or develop the game for decisions people may not like.

Some K. Rool fans have this weird idea that Nintendo hates the character.
