Oh man, this is easily my favourite JRPG series. I don't really dare to put too much hope into anything, but a 1-5 collection for the PS4 sure would be great.

My money's on a remaster of the PSP ports of I + II for PS4, and I'd be perfectly fine with that.

This probably means new pachinko machine.
Don't know why people get excited so fast.
I will only get excited if they announce new console entry continuing in the world set by Suikoden 1-5 and the director is Murayama.

I could see this being a mobile game where all the characters you care about are locked behind a gacha mechanic.

I doubt they'd update the series webpage to show ALL games if it just meant pachinko stuff or other such nonsense. My guess is they will put at least the first two on either mobile, Switch, or PS4. Or all three.

Not sure about III-V as they would probably require a Remaster of some sorts just to bring the 3d graphics more up to date like better resolutions and whatnot. So they may not bother with these if there's more cost involved. The first two though they can easily release as they are with little enhancements as the sprite work holds up really well even today.

PS4 seems most likely at this point seeing as it's a PS only game series and it would make no sense if it come out just on mobile or Switch. But this is Konami so anything is possible. I mean I know it's not a Konami game but look at Grandia skipping PS4 recently.

These games particularly older JRPGs never come out on certain platforms or ever again because of licensing issues. It's always about the licensing.

I dare not hope it will be anything significant at this point. A Gacha for mobile phones or the Suikoden 1+2 game released for phones and/or PS4.

I will take anything at this point. It can't be worse than being dead.

Breath of Fire 6 begs to differ.

The first two Suikodens are a couple of my favorite games ever. I already own them on Vita/PSP/PS3, so I'd be happy with an iOS re-release just to have them on me at all times. I'd also be happy with a Switch release of the PSP I & II collection (or a full blown collection of 1-5, but that is surely asking too much).

What I would NOT be happy with is a new cheap-ass mobile gacha game or a pachinko machine. Despite being a huge fan of the series, neither of those would even register on my radar.

A mobile/gacha suikoden would definitely be worse than staying dead. Like, if you could revive a loved one but they came back as a drooling mess, you'd probably just think that you shouldn't have bothered.

I'm hoping for the best, but I've steeled my heart for the worst. I would love the PSP versions of the first two games, along with the rest of the series, to be ported to current gen. Localize what needs localizing, or in some cases relocalize, and get those games back in circulation. Although I'm completely prepared for the possibility of pachinko and mobile games.

I would really like a new game but its most likely a mobile game or a switch port (which would be nice).

Suikoden II has a looooot of localization issues... From inconsistent names (Jowy sometimes becomes Joei) to texts that make little sense to this:

and to this (!!!!!!):

There was a patch for most issues or translation fixes. Not sure it fixed all problems though. I would like a remaster or retranslation with bug fixes for Suikoden 1 and 2.

I can't remember if the second screen was changed, but the other issues were fixed in the PAL version.

The PSP version would make a lot of sense. It already collects two really classic games that aren't available on any other modern format, and it was already remastered for actual 16:9 (unlike Castlevania). It just needs a translation and the games have their scripts already so it's a very small task to actually update it. And Sony already used a PSP emulator to port Castlevania.

Or they could just be stupid and release the PSone originals, bugs and all, in an emulation wrapper. Edit: And fail to provide a way to transfer save files.

I think the translation team didn't have script so they had to play the game while translating

The PAL version has a better translation and fixes most of the bugs

I still sucks how Suikoden V never got released on Classics for PS3. I loved Konami during the PS1 days . Suikoden and Vandal Hearts especially .
