That freeze frame of Holt's facial expression getting the Gatorade bath looked like Mark Wahlberg.

I have spent the entire year asking myself and trying to figure out why the Yankees dumped Joe Girardi and took a chance with Aaron Boone and right before getting Stanton. I don't remember hearing people talk about it that much but I consider that to be a huge front office blunder.

it was on purpose. not sure what they saw wrong with Girardi but there it is. not sure he prevents tonight's beating though.

Holy shit, what a fucking abomination. This is the kind of game that probably gets a manager fired.

Eovaldi is going to get paid this off-season.

Thinking about it, it is incredible how shitty that went for the Yankees.

  • The late warmup/Severino apparently not knowing what time the game started
  • Severino not having it
  • Boone leaving him in, despite him not having it
  • Boone waiting until the bases were loaded with no outs to get him
  • Putting Lance Lynn in to put the fire out
  • Deciding to put Chad Green in after shit completely goes south
Like, what the fuck.

From the media, Severino said his routine was the same tonight as it was for all other games. Otherwise yea this is clearly Boone's worst managed game of the year.

I want Dodgers vs Yankees. West Coast Avengers vs The Legion of Doom.
Then I'd take Dodgers vs Astros. West Coast Avengers vs TBD

Red Sox have gotten to CC in the postseason before, I remember them beating up on him in his prime in 2007.

CC has 14 IP (2 starts under 4 IP) with 7 ER against the Red Sox. He had one nice start, had issues the other two.
Porcello has 23.1 IP against the Yankees with 6 ER this year. He had the complete game 1-hitter in July, a 7 IP start with 0 ER in April, and got beat up once.

Boone letting Severino pitch the 4th and then bringing in Lance Lynn with the bases loaded in a critical playoff game is a fireable offense in my eyes.

(Not to mention burning Green and Holder in low leverage innings when the game was already over)

Girardi probably doesn't win the Yanks that game last night but surely he wouldn't have made things THAT much worse like Boone did.

Boone should have just left Lance in there after the bases clearing hit by Benintendi. The game was lost and he wasted Chad for no real reason. Chad should have started the inning but once it got out of hand, why waste him? You already conceded the game by even bringing Lance in.

Boone isn't a great manager and I know he will get better but leaving Severino in was horrendous.

I went to my soccer game in the 3rd, came back and after a shower saw it was 7-1 and went O.o

I watched the rest not expecting much more to happen, but jesus. Still in store were piled on runs, a position player closing, a fantastic performance by Eovaldi, and the *first* cycle in post-season history (i thought that was supposed to be 'redsox post-season history' at first, *all* was surprising).

Hopefully Game 3 was a sign of things to come, and not Game 2.
