A good friend of mine who works for a developer in the UK has told me he's heard Bruce Straley is joining The Initiative - but I can't find anything online to match that. Has anything been discussed? He was at Naughty Dog for many years.

No chance I would say, he would be a studio head or have his own start up, he won't be going to work underneath someone.

It hasn't been discussed because there hasn't been any online chatter or rumour about the matter. You're the first to bring it up, with hearsay from the dev scene.

If true, it's not nice of Xbox to steal experienced developers like that.

They should grow their developers in tubes.

Interesting, ND is in the same area.

IDK maybe he's not fit for the high end management, most of the devs in TI are from a well defined region and background and he really fits those parameters

If Hellblade will be released physcially, so I hope Cuphead will be as well.

It will happen sometime after the DLC releases next year.

Yes, once we knew we were doing DLC, we decided to wait on the physical version to get the whole thing all on disc with all the patches and content and fixes and languages and everything. We haven't fully planned it out yet, but I would like to do sort of a "celebration of Cuphead" with the physical release. More than just a case and disc.

I think people are forgetting that the 360 generation was an outlier. Sony fucked up completely and MS took advantage of that but the PS3 still ended up catching with a year less on the market and a higher price point. Sony has dominated world wide while for 2 decades while MS hasn't but that doesn't mean they both can't be successful. People who want an xbox will buy it no matter what but to think they'll be neck & neck with Sony and sell 80+million consoles is off the mark in my opinion.

Thats was also an anomaly. MS had everything going to destroy the PS3 at the time.
However, they decided to bury themselves. Sony kept producing great first party games, and MS thought Kinect was the future.

Theres literelly like 45 Kinect games versus 3 AAA games released in 2011-2012 for the 360.
That was the reason why Xbox died towards the end. I barely turned it on at the end of its lifetime.

This is being a constant even in Brazil where Xbox does have a big presence (used to be the market leader, but not sure if that's the case anymore)... However, from the prices at retail around here pretty much everyone I know ends up buying digitally from other marketplaces.

Nonetheless it's pretty weird, they used to dominate shell space during the 360 and early xbone days, and now you'd think it's not even officially marketed around here anymore.
same here

Is this guy (Teeth) from StudioMDHR or what? :)

Hi! I work on Cuphead.
There will be a physical version after the DLC is out and everything has settled down and we have a final-final-final version of everything as good as it can be. Whether it ends up being some special edition thingermaroo or just a spiffy case and a disk...well, we're still working out the kinks on that (physical goods are a whole different headache from making a game).

But there will be a physical release of Cuphead.

Imagine if along with Obsidian and whoever else, Microsoft started another studio like the Intiative with Bruce at the helm, what a kick to the balls that would to to Sony lol

Now I'm confused. It basically is one big longer Inside Xbox episode then? It kinda did sound like a stage show thing to me. Hmmm.
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/X018

Join us for X018, a global celebration of all things Xbox. X018 is for Xbox fans, where people can watch online for news, first looks, and surprises on the largest live Inside Xbox episode ever. Stay tuned on Mixer throughout the weekend for additional news. Coverage streams on Mixer from November 10-11, 2018; Inside Xbox runs 3:00pm–5:00pm DF/CT on Saturday.

It's a two-day event with a special Inside Xbox episode (main announcements will be here) - and various more specific streams over the two days.

It remains to be seen if there will be a live audience at the Inside Xbox show - which essentially would make it a conference.

The fact that MS is fine with a physical PS4 version really shows how much they accept the freedom for their new studios. They could've easily just allow an Xbox One physical version and everyone would understand it somehow.

I'm really impressed by this "new" Microsoft Studios approach.

They've done this with minecraft as well, they do seem very mature for a studio. But then again these games where multi platform before they owned them.

I would be suprised if Ninja Theory only release a retail version for X1, but not for PS4. Well, one of the reason is that Hellblade was multiplatform before Ninja Theory purchase.

Looks like I was going on the right direction with those job listings. Wasn't entirely sure, but it's still nice to know.

Good job, Klobrille! Let's do it again!

Looks like breakdowns are already happening.

So do we want Playground or Obsidian to make Fable 4?
Playground. Definitely Playground. I want a British studio to make it.

Let Obsidian make a traditional WRPG/CRPG. Let Playground make a Fable game.

It's not true until it's confirmed.

But if it's true ... I might've found the Pandora's box and I'm not sure if I want to keep going on that path.
Xbox buying Gearbox and the Borderlands IP confirmed! :P

They really aren't messing around any more it'll be interesting to see what Obsidian can accomplish with full financial backing support from MS.
