How often ( if ever) do Nintendo made games, ( Mario Kart for eg) go on sale on eShop?

Almost never, and the reduction is low. On the Wii U, the games that sold badly got IIRC about 25% reduction at some points, or a discount for a bit more using My Nintendo coins.

The biggest price reduction on Nintendo's own titles happens when they do the "Nintendo Selects" reissue of a game. Then the whole title become budget priced (both retail and eShop). But I think that's only happens at the end of a console's life.

What do you guys think are the '3 Big Exclusives' that Bandai Namco currently has in development for Switch?

wEQk6VY.png

I'm thinking one of them has to be Dragon Ball Fusions 2. Now that just works cause the last one was exclusive to 3DS.

Also a new possibility; maybe the new Hero Academy game?

Hoping for something Super Sentai related or maybe a new Klonoa game (I can keep on dreaming about that)

Got a Switch with a free game (Zelda) in a Black Friday sale today. I'm super excited. Wife wants me to wait for Christmas on it though so she can wrap it. I haven't ever really liked Zelda, but I've also never really played one except OoT (up to the Water Temple). I can't wait to see what all the buzz is about. I'll get Mario after that.
Congrats! I'll be honest, and this is near sacrilege, but the only other Zelda I've enjoyed really is LTTP. BOTW is a stellar game. Maybe my goty.

It's not like any Zelda you've played before.

But did the person you were responding to talk like they had interest in playing third party games like that? That is only an issue if you're buying third party games from publishers who refuse to put their games on appropriate sized carts.
Ehhh.... I believe Splatoon 2's update data is over 900 MB now, and while the the latest update is likely to be the biggest one it'll get, we're not even halfway through its lifespan yet. Zelda's is a little under half a gig with DLC pack 2 still to come. I've used about half my internal storage and the only digital purchases I have are Snipperclips, Fast RMX, Golf Story, and Rocket League (with Rocket League being by far the biggest at 3-4 GB IIRC). Even if you plan on going physical whenever possible, you'll likely need an SD card at some point if you buy some digital only games and want to avoid constant storage management (not that that's impossible - I managed it on the Wii U).

I'm not a gyro guy so I can't compare to other games.

I did use it just now, with joycons detached and I didn't have any problems with it. I can understand why people use it. You can become more accurate with it. I did enjoy reloading, lol. The IR is underneath the right joycon so you would tap the bottom against something to reload.

Few more screens of Rev 1:

Edit: btw, I'm not a reviewer lol. I would love to be one. I purchased my copy from a mom and pop shop in NYC.

You can also change weapons using the touch-screen. Swiping up/down on the left/ride side of the screen will quickly swap between weapons. Not sure if that detail was known or not.

Anyone else find the Switch very slow to charge when docked and playing Zelda?

And does the switch pro controller have battery range than the joycons?

The Switch saves all screenshots at 720p, so that's not really a good measurement.

I was only questioning why someone would recommend an SD card immediately upon purchasing the Switch. Sure, you might eventually need one, but certainly not right now.

In my case I bet I'll make it a couple years before needing one.

I have a problem. I sold my Switch in April for stupid reasons, then bought it back few weeks ago. Bought Zelda once again , but the counter of the hours for Zelda isn't going up. It was at 80 hours when I sold it, and still at 80 hours after many more hours with the new Switch. (even after another 10 days)

Nothing wrong with the counter with Mario Odyssey or Mario Kart. In that played section, Zelda also has a light blue text.
The counter is weird, inaccurate, and takes ages to update. We need a proper Acitvity Log yesterday.

Buying the Pro Controller tomorrow. I know there's lots of benefits over the joycons with grip, but what I'm really looking forward to is not having to remove the joycons and attach to grip each time I want to play docked.

Can the pro controller wake up/turn on the switch like the joycons?

What do people think of Bomberman after all the updates? Ordered it on sale the other day.

The game has never really grabbed me. I think I put close to 10 hours into it. I still need to check out a couple of the recent updates though.

THAT BEING SAID, a lot of people here seem to really enjoy it, so you can probably safely throw my opinion on this game in the trash can.

If someone likes classic Bomberman, they'll probably like Bomberman R.

I do wish they'd add stock battles, tho (multiple lives per player).

Best SHMUP on Switch?

I'm familiar with all but GEM but I think I want a classic. I just can't remember if they have good playtime/ replay value

Does Strikers have any QoL options?

Bought my Switch at a midnight launch back in March and I love this thing but I am so disappointed by the build quality. I have used this console normally and even babied it but I have experienced:
  • Discoloration around the buttons on the Joy Con
  • Crack near the power button
  • Left Joy-Con connectivity issue (I play 99% in handheld mode so it wasn't an issue for me)
  • Stick drift on both joysticks
  • Screen lifting and popping up from the frame
  • New cracks forming around the back plate and vents
Am I just unlucky or what?
I wouldn't say you're particularly unlucky, the build quality is subpar and the entire system is cheap and fragile in a way that's surprising for Nintendo of all companies.
If you substitute cracking for dock scratching I'm not far off your list, day one model too.

I think it's made pretty well. It survived a 1000ft drop to cement of all things.

I just bought a Switch for Black Friday with SMO and I'm considering buying Breath of the Wild too since it's on sale now and, knowing Nintendo, I probably won't find it cheaper in some time. Thing is, I don't think I'll be playing it soon and with Nintendo releasing the second DLC soon and whatsnot, do you guys think there might be a GOTY edition with the DLCs? I certainly wouldn't mind waiting for that :<

Strikers 1945 has 90 degrees rotation mode in tabletop mode (I wouldn't recommend using the joycons attached in that mode). It make a huge difference on the small screen!!!

  • Stick drift on both joysticks

Isn't drifting just relative to the "reset position" when you sync the stick? As in, if you move the stick while the controller is powered on or resynced, it will drift.

I am not following Nintendo and the Switch closely so I have a few questions someone here might be able to answer.

So I want to buy a Switch.
Mainly for Mario Kart 8, but I also want Zelda and Mario Odyssey. So far no other game has peaked my interest and there is nothing announced either.
So for the foreseeable future I won't be buying any new games.
A Switch is currently 313€(red/blue vers.) on Amazon.de and Mario Kart 8 is 41€. I wouldn't buy Zelda and Mario Odyssey right away because I am too busy currently and still have a backlog to go through anyway, but I want MK8.

My question is basically whether or not it makes sense to make the jump now or if there could be significantly better offers in the coming weeks or months.
Can I expect the price of a Switch or any of the games I want to go down in the near future?
Like, if I would pay 320€ instead of 360€ for Switch+MK8 in 6 months, I wouldn't care, but if larger price drops are likely I would be pissed if buy right now, when I can't play much anyway, instead of just waiting it out.
I waited through Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals but nothing including a Switch came up, so now I ask whether thats likely going to change anytime soon.

Just ordered a grey Switch with Mario rabbits from Amazon. co.uk for £280. Added a screen protector and case as well. Ordered a 200gb card from Spanish amazon.
I have a UK Nintendo account at the moment for my N3DS. Is it possible to use the same account on Switch and then also maybe change country to Sweden.

The guy asked for suggestions on anything else he may need. Fact of the matter is the switch comes with a paltry 32 gigs of internal storage, another fact is games are starting to require downloads to play even if you buy the physical game. It only makes sense to pick up some kind of storage solution. I don't see how this advice isn't good.

I know you said not GEM but I love GEM. It is the best use of HD Rumble I have experienced yet. I can play without looking at status bars based completely on the rumble. It is a hard title though.

I like hard as long as it doesn't feel cheap.

That's the problem with a lot of these Arcade shooter ports, their designed to be qyarter munchers.

I'm also interested in Gunbarich if anyone has played it and has opinions, I like break out games.

No you are safe ;)

However the Switch is at 292€ on Amazon.fr so check if it can be delivered in Germany. I would strongly recommend you to take Mario Odyssey now. There is a deal on Amazon.de and the game is way cheaper now (36€).

I am thinking about that offer on Amazon.de as well, but you have to be a prime member. Can I cancel the prime trial membership before the 30 days are up and avoid paying for the membership?

Finally got to play Super Mario Odyssey and it's of course, sublime, exquisite, amazing (And I have only played half an hour lol!) But I write this on this thread rather on SMO OT because my god, why nobody told me about the sleep mode on the Switch!? Push a button, tablet goes off, turn it on, press any button three times and you resume your game exactly where you left off and all of this happens in what? 3 seconds?? I just discovered this yesterday and my mind was blown away with this feature lol. This is perfect when I want to play for 5 minutes without waiting till the system to boot up. This was my main issue when I wanted to play quick matches on MK8 on Wii U, I was lazy to turn the console on, wait to boot up, select the icon, wait till the game loads, etc, etc. Brilliant stuff, Nintendo!

Just a quick quesiton on microSDs. I've got a 64 GB right now which should last me for a little bit longer but I am considering 256 GB soon.

Is it worth it to pick up the 80mb/s transfer cards over the 100mb/s transfer? I think the latter has a '3' or some sort of extra marking on them. They are more expensive and I recall people mentioning getting a top class microSD didn't improve load times significantly for digital.
