Yes but only because of the setting and kassandra. I'm finding the quests to be just as dull and simplistic as Origins so far and the dialogue options have been completely pointless up to now.
Yes, they don't want you to skip all beautiful stuff they created and just focus on main parts. There are lot of cool stuff that players should explore.Do side quests.
Don't let the main story necessarily dictate which islands you go to next.
No, there are many quests with drastic outcomes based on your decisions. Nothing like this was in Origins.Yes but only because of the setting and kassandra. I'm finding the quests to be just as dull and simplistic as Origins so far and the dialogue options have been completely pointless up to now.
Message board quests are for resources mainly.Should just not really do the message board stuff beyond the daily for the currency thingy. Accept the ones that are like "Kill X whatevers" because you'll get them incidentally, but anything that has you go like talk to one of them is really not all that worth it. Will get you too sidetracked and burnt out.
I'm keeping pace with or ahead of the game just doing main quests, sidequests (the ! ones) and the occassional area with a rare reward, like the tombs for ability points. Will sometimes do a full clear of a bandit camp or w/e if it coincides with other objectives, but that's about it so far.
Problem iam facing is more related to resources. I'm really struggling to get enough to upgrade my ship and gear. Xp and credits not an issue at all.
Anyone? What do the scales mean in dialogue choices? And are there any stealth challenge bonusses or trophies?
So you don't see the drastic improvement in writing, cinematic direction, NPCs, dialouge options, choices compared to Origins? Heck some elements aren't even present in Origins to the point i wouldn't even call them an improvement.Yes but only because of the setting and kassandra. There are lot of filler stuff but there are lot of good quests as well.
It's a better game than Origins in every way including quests .

Every Quest in Odyssey is wrapped up with a confrontation with the quest giver, in Origins you do the target and bam quest done.
Odyssey has much more interesting stories by a country mile too.
Both are exceptional games and jewels in my library.I think anyone that wants to explore ancient Egypt should give Origins a go - it does such a great job with the massive deserts and landmarks. As excited as I am to bite into Odyssey, I doubt it'll top the first moment I reached the pyramids in Origins.
It is kind of annoying. What's even weirder is that my Orichalcum total doesn't appear on my resources menu bar sometimes. I actually freaked out about it yesterday but it finally popped up after about 10 minutes. I think there is an online component to it, maybe your total is kept serverside or something.

Dismantling now
Ah, I was LV16 on my end, so Overpower attack really helped with chipping away at its health faster. But yeah, got it on my first try also, fun fight.RevenantAxe
I had amassed over $20,000 in game currency, and at one point had a lot of materials from lots of hunting and collecting wood and ore. But I kept upgrading weapons I liked, and then upgraded my hull a couple of times and it decimated my stock. I ended up buying each blacksmith's stock of wood, ore and skins whenever I'd go visit one to sell all of my loot, weapons and armor, and that helped. Sure, it cost close to $13,000 including some upgrades, but my hull is upgraded 3 times and I can easily get more money. I'm already back over 10K.
It was and wasn't for me. I was level 13 and so was it, despite trying to over level. It took a while to chip away its health, even with poison and flaming attacks, and special arrows. The mini boars were annoying. But beating it on my first try was satisfying.
We don't get games like this very often, like to say Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition are the only ones with comparable sidequest typology in recent memory. Odyssey is head and shoulders over everything comparable minus TW3, which writing is maybe still a little more dense and robust. Odyssey for me is roughly the same level as TW3 regarding quests (use witcher senses and most of them did end in combat).I know I have a lot to see still but so far out of 3 regions I haven't seen a single good quest yet. It's been as basic as it gets.
So far no not really. Going back to the NPC so they can say 2 sentences isn't enough of an improvement for me to notice. Dialogue choices have mostly been like witcher 3 but with even less writing in most of the white exposition choices, another case where the NPCs usually say a couple sentences (mostly directions for exploration mode people). The majority of actual side quests I've done have been go to a spot and grab something or kill someone and then run back. These are the actual diamond shape side quests on the map too not notice board or timed quests.

Am LV18 now but I'm just doing my usual, clearing a landmass of its ? marks + some bounties here and there, nothing else honestly.I started dismantling, but then sold everything after the beginning, to earn money. Maybe I should go back to dismantling?
Ah, makes sense.
How'd you level up so fast? I'm doing lots of side and bounty quests, but am leveling very slowly. 11-16 in 7 hours.
HDR sucks in this. Granted my TV only has 1000nits and HDR10, but everything is either to dark or looks washed out.So I'm alone in thinking that HDR is wonky this time ? I have Sony x900e and origins was fantastic with hdr, I barely did anything. But with odyssey I just can't get it right
Can you turn off level scaling? Not a fan of that mechanics. Origins doesn't have it by default.

So I saved the sick family at the beginning. I feel like that may have been the wrong choice. I just didn't like how blood-thirsty the priest seemed. What's gonna happen now?
Now you've gone and done it! The sick family spread their disease and muck on all the other inslanders who proceed to eat each other. The island then sinks. Those poor people.

Unfortunately not, but there is a vague possibility the option to do so will be patched in. It really should be something players can opt for at the very beginning of the game a la Exploration Mode.

I can understand disliking Origins because chewing through the side content made you overleveled and trivialised most enemy encounters, but I side with those who feel that the level scaling negates much of the point of levelling up.
Yeah, it seems like it's lying, but I wonder if that choice is ever helpful? I used it when describing Kefalonia to the blind guy, and the response just made me sound like a jerk, so I'm reluctant to use it again.

There is one side quest where lying causes the quest to fail.Yeah, it seems like it's lying, but I wonder if that choice is ever helpful? I used it when describing Kefalonia to the blind guy, and the response just made me sound like a jerk, so I'm reluctant to use it again.
Oh man, the end of this side-quest called "Making Friends" :'(
What I mean is:
It seems like the game just treats Nikolaos as 'dead', for all intents and purposes, no matter which choice you actually make. If you kill him, he dies, if you don't kill him then he just goes away and is never seen again and Kassandra just tells everyone she killed him; it's the same outcome either way. Like I said, if it turns out he comes back later in the story if you let him live then that'd be something different, of course.
Go on, there's none of that in Odyssey. Is there a trophy related to selling 100 items at once like in Origins or can I safely sell everything?
Thanks.
