I think the announcers are exaggerating it. Sevy might have thought he had more warmup pitches but I seriously doubt he was aloof to start the game.

Regardless of what happens this offseason, I hope Yankees fans don't pine for big FAs. We got Stanton for a bag of balls and should be gratuitous enough. Be happy with Andujar at 3rd, Didi at SS, and Sheffield / Adams coming into the rotation.
Will probably need one more starter on top of Corbin, even if they re-sign Happ. Lynn is probably gone. Gray sucks. CC is another year older. Even if Sheffield is ready he's not giving you 200 innings.

Andujar is not long for 3rd (the last rookie 3B who profiled the way he does is Ryan Braun) and pitching prospects are extremely volatile (you just have to follows Adams' own prospect status for proof, and I'm not even sure the org views Adams any longer as a potential starter). Infield defense and starting pitching are the two biggest weaknesses this team has on the field and the Yankees have an obscene amount of money to spend this offseason.
They are being charged with some serious, SERIOUS abuses in the DR.

I don't care who comes from the AL honestly. I don't mind them Sox alright. Yankees while they use to spend don't outside Stanton, and Astros are always nice to cheer for.

If you read the article, he's actually claiming racial discrimination for him not receiving as many positive evaluations as other umpires. I think most would agree that's nonsense. Him being evaluated poorly is because he's a terrible umpire.

San Diego Studios gets Eovaldi.
Severino/Corbin/Tanaka/Happ/CC with Sheffield plus the rest of the farm as depth is sufficient to start the year. The Yankees absolutely need to figure out what went wrong with Severino in the 2nd half though. That is the difference between them being serious title contenders and them being the Braves of the AL. It's a foregone conclusion that Gray gets traded (I would bet on Milwaukee).
