All of his pitches are up and out over the plate. How is the pen empty?

They have Acuna under team control for like another 5 years. Any deal Harper signs will likely have opt outs after 2-3 years, possibly even 1 if he wants to try and reset his market value completely. I don't think theres much intersection there.

I'm talking about buying out Acuna's arbitration years and delaying his FA years by a couple years like the Angels did with Trout. If they wait the full 6 years and let Acuna test free agency, I'm not sure the Braves will be able to keep him. Acuna will hit FA in his age 25 season. Every big market team will be in on him.

The Yankees haven't been able to hit pitchers with elite velo all year long. The Red Sox have.

I wouldn't have gone Sevy here at all but I guess you ride the horse that brung ya.

Ok get Sevy the FUCK out of this game, if he starts the 4th inning that's Boone is absolutely insane, should be 5-0 the way Boston is hitting him.

Not a whole lot of options if you don't go w/ Severino. It's him, CC or Lynn basically and I trust him more than CC and obviously Lynn. While he's mostly sucked the second half he can still have a game where all his pitches are working and he can be pretty damn good, I don't know what's happened to him because he's turning into a very average (and honestly closer to below average) pitcher since the All-Star break, but his lightning in a bottle possibility is way more than CC's or Lynn's. Yankee's starting pitching is pretty bad, that's their main problem.

True but I don't know that you necessarily have to plan for that this offseason and let it limit your moves. You have no idea how things will turn out, how players will develop, how long of a window to win a title you have, so strike when you can. Braves have to take advantage of how much value they are getting out of these position players while paying them relative peanuts. It's the blueprint that the Cubs rode to a championship.

acuna looks awesome going forward, but he's not trout. you can't predict things that far out and let them effect your window now. baseball is weird., nobody knows what acuna will be in 5 years.

Ugh, Angel Hernandez is the home plate ump tomorrow. Could see CC getting ejected over balls and strikes.

Sure, but I'm just not seeing the Braves spending the kind of money it would take to sign Harper. Corner OF isn't a huge deficiency for the Braves and I think they're going to spend money elsewhere, namely pitching.

Nah Harper would be overkill, I agree. I think their best bet is to spend big money on pitching. They should be in on Corbin, maybe even engage the Giants on a Bumgarner trade if it doesn't cost them any of their core pieces.
