Honestly it's just a rare moment of karmic justice in this country that the braves and indians both got knocked out of the playoffs on Indigenous People's Day
They have Acuna under team control for like another 5 years. Any deal Harper signs will likely have opt outs after 2-3 years, possibly even 1 if he wants to try and reset his market value completely. I don't think theres much intersection there.
He was fired up clearly, he doesn't have the same emotion tonight. He still had control issues with 4BB in 4IP.
The Yankees haven't been able to hit pitchers with elite velo all year long. The Red Sox have.
I wouldn't have gone Sevy here at all but I guess you ride the horse that brung ya.
He kind of did, but the sox offense is a lot better than Oakland's.
I'm talking about buying out Acuna's arbitration years and delaying his FA years by a couple years like the Angels did with Trout. If they wait the full 6 years and let Acuna test free agency, I'm not sure the Braves will be able to keep him. Acuna will hit FA in his age 25 season. Every big market team will be in on him.
He really didn't look good either. He got out of a lot of trouble and Oakland's lineup is just not nearly as good.

True but I don't know that you necessarily have to plan for that this offseason and let it limit your moves. You have no idea how things will turn out, how players will develop, how long of a window to win a title you have, so strike when you can. Braves have to take advantage of how much value they are getting out of these position players while paying them relative peanuts. It's the blueprint that the Cubs rode to a championship.
Sure, but I'm just not seeing the Braves spending the kind of money it would take to sign Harper. Corner OF isn't a huge deficiency for the Braves and I think they're going to spend money elsewhere, namely pitching.
