You are delusional. The bar has been high since X-Men 2 and Spidey 1-2 and it was brought up by TDK. Phase 3 has not raise the bar.

lol

Sorry, I don't agree. I believe Black Panther and Infinity War both raised the bar in the genre in their own ways.

We'll have to agree to disagree, despite your weirdly brash way of telling me your opinion.

Glad to see venom is doing alright
It was a really enjoyable movie to watch
deserves more success than most of the DCEU output

I'm actually alright with Venom doing well.

I just hope Sony keeps working with Marvel and lets Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU.

I also still think any attempts they make at a Spider-Universe that doesn't involve webhead or goo-boy will fail unless they make the next Guardians of the Galaxy level movie.

$80m is lower than I expected but still pretty good.

In conclusion, launch a bad superhero in September/October and people will still flock to it, a.k.a. the Suicide Squad effect.

Oh wow that seems not that great for justice league
any hope venom can reach these numbers?

Yeah Justice League made the least amount of the whole franchise (even lower than Man of Steel) and cost twice as much so you can see why it's gotten the legacy that it has.

Venom's pretty unlikely, probably going to land somewhere in the $500-600 million range unless it gets insane James Cameron legs and has 0% drops for the next 2 months.

But it also cost a relatively cheap amount so it'll still put some very good money in Sony's pocket.

We have see time and time again that people's taste does it line up wit the critics. It does not mean that common sense lost but I means the critics a lot o times are out of touch.
My common sense comment was regarding people dismissing crtiics altogether (must be a conspiracy !) and saying the RT user score is reliable at all.

Glad Vernon did well. Was hyped for it then reviews hit but I already had a ticket so we went anyway. Glad we did very fun movie. First Tom Hardy film I liked. Hopefully sequel gets rid of Michelle Williams. All of her scenes made my girlfriend and I cringe.

Sony should take Spider-Man out of the MCU, put him in the sequel and name it Venom 2: Maximum Salt

Certainly a good result for Sony. They're gonna be fast-tracking that sequel and probably renewing their agreement with Marvel. Good news for everyone, I suppose. Spidey gets that MCU quality control in his movies and all of Sony's whatthefuckery that general audiences love contained in their own Marvel universe.

Every week I continue to be amazed by The Predator too. It's actually performing not bad for the series, slightly better than the last movie, but that budget is sinking it like a rock. $80m for a Predator movie LOL. Reminds me of Universal spending $150m on a Wolfman movie years back. It went on to gross $140m, which makes it one of the highest grossing werewolf movies of all time, but still a colossal bomb. Makes Dracula Untold and The Mummy look like rousing successes.

All eyes are on how the next Spiderman film does. If it somehow does worse than homecoming you can be sure some hair brained ideas will start to be kicked around.

I'm assuming that means you disagree.

Sorry but so far I've only liked him in peaky blinders before this movie.

Her scenes were not convincing even for a popcorn movie. Her best moment was the restaurant scene.

Did you even see mad Max ?

Yep fell for the hype on that one. My friend couldn't stop talking about it, convinced me to see it. Guess I'm not a movie buff but I did not enjoy Mad Max. Will leave it there because I know it's taboo to not like it.

Just happy Venom did well. Had it's issues but was well paced and entertaining.

It's kind of ridiculous really.

Avatar 2 will make this forum melt, if it's still around when that movie comes out.
It's absurd it's like the console fanatism you see on the other side but applied to movies (comic book movies). I never knew it was some great sin that a film critics didn't like did well....

Welp, Venom's doing business even if it's a shitty film. That speaks volumes about the movies we deserve. Nice to see Star is Born doing great tho.

A Star Is Born is fantastic. Made me cry like a baby. Gaga has the best original song oscar on lock down. Good shot at best actress.
Cooper has, actually. He co-wrote the songs as far as I know.

So will this encourage Sony to recover Spiderman for themselves again out ot the MCU? Tsk, Tsk...

Well, we'll get Xmen for phase 4 so it's not like Marvel doesn't have a lot of new toys to play with in the future.

I think Sony will probably renegotiate the deal with marvel in a way where they get to use a different version of Spider-Man in their movies like miles, Gwen, noir etc... and marvel keep Peter Parker Spider-man. Them trying to stick spiderverse at the end of venom probably is setting up the seeds for this to happen and getting audience understand the whole multiple universe Spider characters.

Venom 2 confirmed then

What if Gaga turned down Black Canary for WB, because Sony made her a better offer for Black Cat...

I don't think they need Marvel's permission to do that.
