Is there anything important to know (i know the were issues with hdmi cec at launch, for example), settings, Nintendo account?

Purchases are connected to the user (the Nintendo ID) that buys the game, but all users on the console can play the game. So if you buy things on the eShop, it would be best to purchase them on your own user profile, while your daughter plays on her user profile.

Is the switch app mandatory to play online with randoms on Mario kart?

Not at all. I don't think it's even possible to use the app when playing against randoms.

Can i use PayPal for eshop?

Yes.

Yes.
Thanks. So can me and my daughters have different save files if we use different profiles?

Yes, that's how it works (you select the user profile while starting the game).

And if you play a game like MK8 together, you select the other player's profile in-game, so coin collecting and such is attached to the player's user profile.

Get some sort of a microSD Card. If you're planning on physical only get 64 gigs. If you are going to go all digital I would get 128 gigs and up. I personally got a 200 gig installed and I mix physical and digital.
Why would you recommend an SD card? That only seems necessary if the person is going to buy a lot of digital games. I've had a Switch since launch and don't have an SD card. I've currently got 20 gigs of space left. I've got 5 physical games and a few digital ones.

Games are starting to take up more and more space in memory even if they are physical games. Look at NBA 2K18 and Doom. To get the multiplayer portion of Doom you have to download it which is like 4-5 gigs right there.

Those are the kind of physical games I'm going to actively avoid I think, because it defeats part of the purpose of physical games when companies are too cheap to just fork out the extra for a 32gb game card. The only exception I still kinda want is Doom, because I don't care about the multiplayer for that, but with games like LA Noire making a game impossible to play without a download...fuck that shit. They have the nerve to charge $10 more than the other platforms on Switch and couldn't even put it all on a game card.

But did the person you were responding to talk like they had interest in playing third party games like that? That is only an issue if you're buying third party games from publishers who refuse to put their games on appropriate sized carts.

Is Dragon Quest Builders 2 coming to Switch? That might just be the game to hold me over until Animal Crossing comes.

I have tried 3 usb to ethernet adaptors i had and none of them work on the Switch. Sorta thinking i should ebay one that is Switch compatible. Official one is WAY too expensive for what it is. 2 of the 3 adaptors lit up as if signal was going there but couldnt connect to the internet.

Got a Switch with a free game (Zelda) in a Black Friday sale today. I'm super excited. Wife wants me to wait for Christmas on it though so she can wrap it. I haven't ever really liked Zelda, but I've also never really played one except OoT (up to the Water Temple). I can't wait to see what all the buzz is about. I'll get Mario after that.

Halp.

I'm torn between getting Shantae 1/2 Genie Hero and Mummy Demastered as both are on sale for about $14.

Thoughts on either? Which is better? Shoud I get one, both or neither? From what I've read Shantae is too easy aside from a few spikes and Mummy is brutal and grindy in a cheap and not good way? Both games look so cool, though, and I like Shantae, Castlevania, Aliens: Infestation, etc.

There are other games I want more but since they aren't on sale I'm thinking I should consider picking up one of these first as they do interest me.

Also wonder what you guys think of Gunbarich. Looks pretty cool since I enjoy break-out games and pinball.

It really fucking sucks that Pac Man Battle Royale is only available through the $30 Namco collection. I really only want BR but I'm not paying $30 for a game I will rarely be able to play with friends.

Actually, does Battle Royale have online? I assume not.

Has Nintendo expressed any interest in bringing old Wii titles to the console? I have no idea if the joycons are capable of emulating the Wiimote but I would love to get a Galaxy/2 remake.

This! Plus I want more Wii U stuff besides what has been ported already (eg. MK8, BoTW and Pokken). Really want Windwaker HD, Twilight Princess, Bayonetta 2, Super Mario 3D World and Smash 4 Deluxe.

Bought my Switch at a midnight launch back in March and I love this thing but I am so disappointed by the build quality. I have used this console normally and even babied it but I have experienced:
  • Discoloration around the buttons on the Joy Con
  • Crack near the power button
  • Left Joy-Con connectivity issue (I play 99% in handheld mode so it wasn't an issue for me)
  • Stick drift on both joysticks
  • Screen lifting and popping up from the frame
  • New cracks forming around the back plate and vents
Am I just unlucky or what?

Micro SD card is a must. Some retail third party games (NBA 2K, LA Noire, WWE) require it.

Looking to deals now.

What Emily said. Also, a glass screen protector? Got the nyko one from gamestop which fit perfect. Otherwise the amfilm one on Amazon is highly recommended.

Is this primarily for making sure the screen doesn't get scratched when docking it?

Change the theme to Black and save your eyes.

Literally the first thing I did.

Check the demos on the store. The Puyo Tetris one is quite meaty. However the Octopath Traveler one is stellar.
Chose Primore's path and enjoy ;)

I looked for Octopath Traveler under demos & didn't see it. I'll try searching next time.

Question, anyone know if there is a way to transfer character from Xenoverse 2 on Console to Switch? Doubtful but I'm wondering. Cause I loved XV2 on XBO and wondering if I should get on Switch while it's on sale.
