https://www.roadtovr.com/beat-saber-now-7th-best-rated-steam-game-time/
Beat Saber has climbed to the #7 spot among best rated games on Steam—VR or otherwise—and continues to hold the #1 spot among VR titles.

For a few days following its Early Access launch back in May, Beat Saber basked in the #1 spot of top rated titles on Steam as the only game on Steam with a 99% positive rating. A few weeks into release, a handful of negative reviews dropped the game down to 98%. With just 19 other games on Steam holding a 98% positive rating, Beat Saber dropped to around #13 among all games, as Steam breaks the tie based on which game has the greater number of positive ratings.

As it has continued to amass positive reviews over time, Beat Saber has slowly climbed the ladder, recently securing the #7 spot among Steam's best rated games with 5,761 positive reviews.

Reaching the #6 spot on Steam will take time yet, as Beat Saber will need to outpace the incumbent, A Hat in Time (2017), and surpass that game's 7,689 positive ratings.

But it could certainly get there; Beat Saber is still in Early Access and developer Beat Games is working on much requested content like more official tracks, an official track editor, and multiplayer. The game's eventual launch out of Early Access could propel it to new heights among Steam's top rated titles.

Deserved. I play Beat Saber every night. My game is chocked full of custom songs/maps and it's basically my daily workout every night. I adore Beat Saber. Easily in my top ten of the year.

What is the easiest way to add songs? I enjoy Beat Saber but there are only like ten tracks included which is surprising given how much love it gets.

Hell yeah, it's such a fun mini-work out on the Vive.
PSVR version should be releasing soon too I think(?)

Some useful links in the comments of this Reddit post.

You can install a mod that lets you install whole playlists of custom tracks. I added four playlists. Songs With Fantastic Flow vol 1,2 and 3 and a Work Out playlist. All amazing. A lot of custom maps are pretty crappy but anything by BennyDaBeast or GreatYazer is amazing.

I'm holding off on buying it until there's an official track editor cause the base tracks are absolutely terrible. I'm surprised that A Hat In Time is rated so high too, but I guess that's the effect of Steam reviews' thumb up/down system making it work similar to Rotten Tomatoes.

I believe it. I've only tried it once and it's already about 75% of the way to finally justifying me getting a Vive. I'm definitely getting it as soon as I have a platform to play it on.

Not surprised, once you add good custom soundtracks it's amazing how fun of a workout it can be.

Also, somebody did this.

The custom songs and other mods are a big reason for why the game is so great.

Once you got the custom songs you will drop the original songs like immediately

If this was a launch game for Oculus Quest, I'd pre-order that thing. Just can't bring myself to invest in a VR platform literally cord-tied to my PC.

There's an unofficial track editors with hundreds of tracks on it. The team just hired the biggest community mapper because his stuff is so good. I've got maybe 75-100 extra tracks added to my install from the community?

Playable in two weeks at Paris Games Week, probably not far off but with Déraciné and Tetris Effect also coming they need to choose the best date

Was playable last month at EGX too. I didn't queue up to play it because I already have it on the Rift but it's obviously more or less done.

I'm going to guess it had more to do with Steam users wanting to push back against those who (rightfully) criticized the inclusion of JonTron as a voice actor for a character.

Steam user reviews are usually trash.

I wouldn't bother waiting for the official track editor. Nothing about the custom library is going to change between now and then. Half the reason they put that on the backburner is because the unofficial one filled the gap for now and any updates to the PC version are going to take it in to account since they communicate very closely with the mod teams.

Would Beat Saber allow for custom music on PSVR? Or is it a modded effort on PC?

So far it's a fully community driven selection of mods for the PC version. I think I have three or four mods installed to get the custom stuff and playlists working in game?

It's definitely my most played and favorite VR game so far. So happy for this game's success.

Would Beat Saber allow for custom music on PSVR? Or is it a modded effort on PC?

They claim they are working on their own song editor, but yes right now it's fully a modding effort.

Not to thread whine, but if it's VR only, would be a good idea to put VR in the title.

It's the #1 rated VR game, and the #7 highest rated game overall.

Can it be played without VR?

That would be boring as hell, there is Audiosurf and countless other beat/rythmgames for non VR gaming on Steam.
(the entire reason the game is so liked is because it uses your full body while keeping the limitations of VR in mind, finding that balance that works best and does not go beyond what VR is capable of at the moment (that and music + lightsabers).

It looks really cool and I hope it can come to Oculus Quest when that comes out.

Being the best 3D platformer from this decade probably helps.

I played this at an Arcade Club in the UK, it's fantastic and I loved it. I'm really looking forward to the PSVR version but I feel like the lack of custom soundtracks would hurt it a bit.

This game will be for naught if there's no Crazy Noise Bizarre Town custom that is accurate to the op's animation.

The two I saw in videos were shit.

The concern would be power, I guess. Quest will have better tracking but graphics will probably have to be toned down more for Quest than PSVR.

Totally. I just think power shouldn't be too much of a concern as it's such a basic looking game. Coloured blocks with simple backgrounds. Should be fine for Quest?

I doubt there would be much difference though. The graphics are pretty basic.

Because I image some people, like me, aren't interested in VR and would rather not waste their time clicking on a topic about some vr game. I didnt mean ti say the title was inaccurate, only that it lacks info.
Don't see the point in getting that granular just because some people don't like VR.

Do people say "RPG The Witcher 3 is the highest [whatever]" or "Open-world Exploration Game Breath of the Wild highest rated game of all time"?

No lies detected. Beat Saber is quickly becoming my favorite-ever rhythm game, VR or otherwise. Can't imagine only playing with 10 tracks though, hopefully they bring more out if they release a PSVR version.

Don't see any reason why it couldn't run on a Oculus Quest either. Just tone down some of the more intensive lighting effects and background detail which doesn't matter anyway.
