That has to be a bug. I mean that is some Mat_fullbright 1 shit.Come on, seriously? Check the Gamespot video around 27:10 mark and tell me this is current gen lighting. I dare you.

Don't worry, I did. The game has too many changes from a typical Fallout game that I have decided to wait on full review followed by community consensus. You should actually click the links to articles from those who've played the beta.
Most are optimistic / cautiously optimistic.
The Venom of video gamesLooks rough. But I'm sure it will turn out good with a couple of friends.
marketing deal with xbox. It was also running at 4k.Why not just run this on PC?
Honestly.
Like why give yourself such a terrible first impression?
Ok. Now check out everything before 27:10 and everything after 27:10.Come on, seriously? Check the Gamespot video around 27:10 mark and tell me this is current gen lighting. I dare you.

It doesn't though. It looks on par or even slightly improvement from Fallout 4, which has pretty decent lighting by all accounts.Maybe. But honestly, it's hard to tell from that video what is a bug and what is working as intended.
Yep, I did. It still looks very subpar. Maybe not as bad as that interior lighting, but pretty shit nonetheless.
The general consensus between the people who actually played it are quite different from people who have watched it running at 4k on an xbox.Didn't read the whole thread by the consensus seems to be that it didn't look so hot. After the way Bethesda broke my heart with this game I'm honestly kinda happy. Would love to see this game backfire and Hines smug ass get humbled on some level.
The actual 4k gamespot vid looks a lot cleaner asset wise and has a lot less stutter than that first vid (still has tons of drops from what it looks like tho). Looks like it would be fun with friends, but I don't think this one's for me.
I'm not sure if it's been addressed yet, but for those of you worried about how rough / stuttery appears, my writer who attended the event noted that the developers basically flooded the servers for the sake of this media preview, and that everything is obviously in a very WIP state, which resulted in the performance issues. They noted that the footage / performance was not representative of what we should expect at launch (for what that's worth).

Aren't you always online? Is it really a multi game when your base only exists when you are online?
I'm not talking about your impressions, or whether or not it looks good or bad. I'm talking about the inane comparison with last gen. This looks literally nothing like lighting did last gen.Sure, I'll wait on release gameplay, but these are my first impressions from seeing what they put out today.
I mean that's the point of these previews, to make a first impression, isn't it? And it's not good in my case, that's all.

"flooded the servers"?
You think there will be fewer people playing at launch than journalists playing that day?
Marketing agreements. Why not just run this on PC?

There is a 24 player server cap in the game. They upped that cap to make it easier to run into people for the event. This is what they meant."flooded the servers"?

Yeah, and beyond a tiny team at most from BGS, I don't believe this marketing. I say that as a huge Bethesda fan boy too. I love them, but I know they're prone to a lot of marketing bs.

Interior lighting looked pretty bad in FO4 as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it still looks this bad at release.Come on, seriously? Check the Gamespot video around 27:10 mark and tell me this is current gen lighting. I dare you.
Your original post wasn't "this small part in a 50 minute video looks like last gen lighting". Your original post claimed that the game has last gen lighting. Which it demonstrably doesn't.The segment around the 27:10 mark does. Whether that's a bug or not, the fact is the lighting isn't good. I don't know what to tell you.
but it really shouldn't be in a work-in-progress state, the thing launches in two months you can only do so much touch up at this stage of developmentI'm not sure if it's been addressed yet, but for those of you worried about how rough / stuttery appears, my writer who attended the event noted that the developers basically flooded the servers for the sake of this media preview, and that everything is obviously in a very WIP state, which resulted in the performance issues.
