My vote goes to Raymond Reddington

This man can literally talk his way out of anything; he's like a fucking hypnotist. More importantly, he's simply a joy to watch on screen. I always look forward to learning of his anecdotes, metaphors, and general encyclopedic level of knowledge. He truly is a terrible, evil person, but you can't help to be smitten by his charisma whenever he enters a room. He's one of those villains that'll make any show great simply by showing up on screen, which is exactly what's keeping The Blacklist from being a terrible show for as long as it has been on air.

Of course, there are a lot of other great villains in television, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing what other charasmatic monsters get mentioned in this thread!

Not sure if he fits the criteria exactly but Moriarty from Sherlock comes to mind.

Miniseries: It's easily Fargo Season 2's Mike Milligan. Just a fucking treat every time he's on screen.

If we count anti-heroes, it's gotta be Jimmy McGill/Saul Goodman. That character's overflowing with charisma.

I dont think traditional hero/villain or even protag/antagonist classification works for her. Atia of the Julii could charm you, impress you, make feel sorry for her, or flat-out wish she were dead depending on which episode you watch.

I agree, but it's pretty subjective with him. Like, I could see a lot of people being creeped out by his demeanor, but his intelligence does have an appeal to it.

As of late, this guy

I must need to watch more Narcos because he doesn't immediately jump out to me as charasmatic. However, his wide span of influence says otherwise so maybe I'm just missing something.

Slade Wilson was charismatic AF in the 2nd season of Arrow.

Shame they bitched him out on later seasons .

Edit: Whoops totally missed that you said TV, I guess I'm so much of a fan that I reached for the GIFs before fully reading the title .

Hans Gruber. Alan Rickman was brilliant in the role.

swearengen, deadwood

Is he really a villain, though...? He does a fuckton of horrible things but can we say he's really evil looking at other characters and how Swearengen feels at least some sort of mercy (as twisted as it may be) towards the disabled girl that works for him, even if he tries to hide it...?

That's what makes Deadwood great imo.

Spike from Buffy

Absolutely counts as a villain even for later seasons
I would argue his most villanious stuff is from one of the later seasons

I always got more creepy vibes from someone like Gus and especially Hannibal even though both characters were great.

I don't know that's just me I guess.

You can't spell Anti-Villain without Villain. :)

Hannibal Lecter, intelligent, charming and brilliant, dislikes rude people though his actions are the rudest of them all.

, Marlo Stanfield, my favourite TV villain.

Ben from LOST.

He was such a thoroughly entertaining character, particularly in his first couple seasons. He always managed to inexplicably weasel his way out of any tough situation, even after the other characters had figured out that pretty much everything he ever said was a lie.

Hannibal was probably the best I've seen though.

Mayor Richard Wilkins is such a good call. He is such a lovely nice man, and is genuinely so - we see that even in his villainy, the friendly and affable persona isn't an act. Very memorable and so very well played.
