Venom was surprisingly solid. The action was fucked and super messy and Sony continues to be fucking idiots who put the last scene of their movie in trailers but the interactions between Hardy and Venom were all fantastic. I don't care if they have to do Infinity Gauntlet shenanigans, I want Hardy in the MCU interacting with everyone else.

I'll be seeing A Star is Born during the week. I have been binge watching season 5 of American Horror Story though so I am hoping Gaga's performance doesn't fuck with me too much.

People have spoken: Mr. Woody Harrelson versus Tom Hardy, is bound to happen, and it will be all kinds of weird and crazy.

Skip the MCU and just put Hardy Venom, Bad Wig Harrelson and Deadpool in a movie together.

When you read what people liked about Venom, and that includes Tom Hardy and the director, they should absolutely lean into the weird and crazy parts of the movie. Increasingly it seems like that's the movie Hardy and the director were trying to make, as they were citing All of Me and so on, but maybe there were disagreements with Avi Arad or w/e.

Venom 2:
This is just what I want.

The soundtrack should be this or something similiar:

Those coupled with more Venom+Eddie moments and an R rating would be perfection.

Crazy how Venom got saved by the audiences, yet the latest Fantastic Four drowned.
The crazier thing to me is audiences seem to think Venom is a solid movie. Doesn't sound like an outright disaster. I'm starting to believe the holds will be better than expected.

I might go see it for myself next week now since the feedback has been ok.

I saw it yesterday and I share the sentiment: there are many souls in Venom; it's not impossible or unthinkable to do a good film with a sprinkle of several genres, but the execution/tone were lacking, except when the script and the team (Hardy on the lead role) embraced the impredictable, schizophrenic nature of the character. In an ideal world, I think they should have taken a few extra notes from Legion (FX, Noah Hawley), it's regrettable they didn't as it provides a really good example for others to emulate.

What if the movie had started with Venom and Brock already together, focusing on his mental issues, instead of taking us for the umpteenth time through the same old road, baptised as "Character Introduction 101". There was room to be bolder, I hope they are in the sequel. By the way, I read on Deadline that Hardy was the one who wanted more comedy and the director preferred a serious approach. Perhaps it was a misinterpretation by the article's author.

Venom is probably the high point of a potential Spider-Man universe. No one is showing up to see Silver & Black or Morbius.

The amount of people that think Sony is gonna pull Spidey out of the MCU and into a universe where no other character can top what Venom did here is...well, lol.

I mean at the end of the day isn't Venom kind of the ceiling as far as the Sony Spidey Spinoffs go? He's certainly the most bankable one off.

Which is why all this talk about "Sony's proved they can do it! Why wouldn't they pull Spidey now?" is absolutely asinine.

No other Spidey character is topping that. And if Sony reboots the character again, I have trouble believing audiences respond well.

Spider-Man's not leaving the MCU. Worst thing about this is Venom ain't gonna be an MCU character for a long time, if ever.

But renewing the deal is still the best play going forward, for both parties.

If Sony can't really mix the Spider-Man with the Venomverse they should just put live action Miles and Spider-Gwen in it.

Most of Venom's US audience was not exactly the Trump demo. Plus 60% of the weekend gross was overseas.

It would be funny if after Far From Home, Sony delays extending the deal with Marvel long enough to put Tom Holland Spider-Man in Venom 2.

"80% were going because they were Tom Hardy fans"

Even though the movie's quality is questionable, glad to see Tom Hardy is a big draw.

Hello, did someone want international numbers for international smash hit Venom?
South Korea led all markets on $16.4m in a five-day haul that has already surpassed the lifetime totals of Captain America: The First Avenger, Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman.
Clearly this is Trump's South Korea.
In Mexico the Tom Hardy tentpole produced Sony's best opening weekend and the best debut by a stand-alone superhero film on $10.2m
Mexico who also this weekend confirmed Kavanaugh and in no way am I being a shit when (even ironically) I use this as a comparison to a non MCU film doing well.
Tracking approximately 38% ahead of Wonder Woman, 32% ahead of Ant-Man And The Wasp, 29% ahead of Logan, and 20% ahead of Doctor Strange based on to SPRI data from the same group of markets at current exchange rates, the release delivered one of the biggest launches for a stand-alone superhero film, according to the studio.
Oh my, I think this is 100% proof that Amy Pascal needs to resign and Sony will sell the Spidey-rights to Paramount.

Sorry bud, I'm taken.

I'll make it easy for you since you can't walk away from a conversation when you say are. I'm done. Enjoy your non factual optimistic and wishful view of the situation.

We're not doing this. I stopped arguing with you because you put words in my mouth and you are not arguing in good faith. You are acting very childish over an argument about Spider-Man movie rights and I have no reason to go back and forth with someone who has the type of attitude you have.

Enough.

Would you show up to Venom 2 where Sable shows up to hunt Venom and Carnage, leading to Venom and Sable teaming up?

Introduce a character in the sequel, then give them their own movie.

Yeah, we're done here. You're being disingenuous and putting words in my mouth.

I knew you had no valid argument. Thanks for validating my assumption. You could've said money btw. That's always the right answer.

This is honestly embarrassing.

Yes. I almost feel bad for you.

... How old are you?

The great thing about Venom is that I was able to sell my Venom pop for quadruple the original price. Idk if I should have hold onto it and sold it when the hit sequel was out.

Goddamnit. I had to see it, but I was hoping nobody else would with how bad it was. I can't understand how everyone's standards are so low for what is acceptable.
