Oh I thought we had to too - sure it was one of the boxes on the questionnaire. Maybe it was just to scare away bad people. :)

I got my TT. Gotta do some sleuthing for additional info including on the other forum. I have a few ideas that come to mind but nothing set in stone.

To my SS, here's some additional info that I didn't provide in the doc. I'll separate it by two categories in spoiler tags. I may or may not end up updating my Amazon wishilist for ideas soon and provide additional updates as to what I purchased throughout today and Black Friday. That being said:

Games I recently bought (from most recent to early in the month):

Rhythm Heaven: Megamix
The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons
Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia
Metroid: Samus Returns
Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions

Additional personal info/facts:
-I'm a freelance writer/event worker (read: still figuring out what I would to love to do for a living) who's worked all at all kinds of events. The longest event that I've done being New York Comic Con for 7 straight years back to back. I've done loads of other events between that time frame and met some of my closest friends through it
-I'm a happily single late 20s Hispanic who's a serial dater. I'm turning 30 next year and it's a bit scary to think about because I've been going through something of an existential/quarter-life crisis.
-I used to run the meet ups in my city at that other forum for quite a while before I hung it up and let some new people take over
-I'm an urban sketcher for fun. What this means is that I sketch people in public places including in my commute in the subway. There's a whole global society and Facebook groups for it. I have several sketchbooks full of stuff over the years.
-Most recent famous people I met include Koji Igarashi and Vic Mignona (the voice of Edward Elric in Full Metal Alchemist) at New York Comic Con. I also saw Eric Clapton last week at Doc NYC, the largest Documentary film festival in the US. I also met Goichi Suda on the night that PAX East ended last year and have a video of my encounter meeting him as a memory.
-I'm a huge podcast addict. Some of my favorite podcasts that I've been listening to include The Adventure Zone, The Giant Beastcast, The Polygon Show, Why Oh Why, TV Avalanche, and Latino USA among others.
-I listen to gaming music (mostly been Anarchy Reigns and the Mad World OST lately) as well as jazz including John Coltrane and hip hop. I'm a sucker for jazzy music in games/anime.
-I have a Bachelors of Arts in Studio Art and Media Studies as well as AA in Writing and Literature so I come from an arts background.
-I like necklaces/rings/bracelets and all kinds of wearable trinkets like that. I had a necklace that I bought in the Dominican Republic over 10 years ago before I lost it.
-I've met a good chunk of past and current Giant Bomb guys including Dan Ryckert, Jeff Gerstmann, Drew Scanlon, Austin Walker, and Alex Navarro. I wouldn't call myself a die GB hard fan (I don't have a premium sub) but I do like a lot of their work even though I disagree with a lot their taste in games.
-My favorite author is Junot Diaz but I already have every book that he's written including The Best Short Stories of 2016 Edited by Junot Diaz. I have the first volume of Monstress written and signed by Marjorie Liu, Diaz's girlfriend and read the second volume.
-Random fact: The piano version of Fisherman's Horizon makes me tear up every time I listen to it. I don't know why but it's a very powerful song for me. Life Is Beautiful from Deadly Premonition is the inverse of that as it makes me smile and reminds me of simple, lazy days hanging out in the sun.

Dear Secret Santa,

PLEASE DO NOT buy me Nier Automata!

I just splurged on it for myself, so I was guaranteed to get it. So if you wanted to get a game for me, go with Wolfenstein II, Rainbow Six Siege or Battlefield 1.

Regardless, I'm looking forward to whatever you come up with :)

Nier Automata is a good choice! My boyfriend splurged on it himself so I'll actually be able to play my copy when his arrives XD

I really hope that I'm not too difficult for my Secret Santa, however, I did a wish list on Amazon:

And here is my Steam profile:

Hopefully, these will help if you're a little stuck, though, as I mentioned on my sheet, don't stress yourself too much and don't take my Amazon as the be-all and end-all of what I want, and will be expecting, it's literally just a list of things I'd love to have but will understand if none of those show up.

I'm also going to steal the additional personal info/facts from Jo-awn (Please, forgive me, Jo-awn), just for some further help.

  • 26 years old, turning 27 this Christmas, BritEra chap
  • Dabbled with more form of creative arts, however, writing is my real love, though, I would really love to become a more proficient artist and that's something I'm trying to get better at.
  • Huge fan of the McElroy brothers! Seriously, they're my personal anti-depressants. If you could ship Griffin to me to be my sweet baby brother - even though he's my elder - that'll swell. However, any other MBMBAM, Adventure Zone, McElroy stuff would be neat too.
  • I'm a fan of professional wrestling and Kenny Omega is my #1 guy!
  • I have been, for almost my entire gaming life, been a PC gamer. I've only had one console and that was an XBOX 360 to play with my cousin, however, I sometimes flirt with the idea of the PS4. I've been on a gaming hiatus since last year - my mac just can't cut it when I've tried to play -but I'm saving up to build a new gaming PC at the start of next year. But once I've got my PC set up, let's be Steam friends!
  • Despite being artistically minded, I'd actually really wish I was a lot more logical and analytical. I love space and would have loved being an astronomer or astrophysicist but I'm just not up to scratch with my maths. Still, I really enjoy doing little science readings and would like to do some more projects.
  • Bethesda fanboy. Forgive me.
  • Always a fan of unique treats from other cultures. Hit me up with those strange international candies we can't get in the UK please!
  • I love learning about the history and cultures that aren't my own. For a good while now, I've been very interested in Arab history and culture. Ismail al-Jazari is my favourite inventor and deserves as much attention as Da Vinci. Dude came up with the earliest concepts of robots!

If you have any questions or concerns, send a message to an intermediary and I'll try and help out as best as I can but don't sweat it! :)

To whoever my SS is, do not buy me Wolfenstein 2 as I've just picked it up for a ludicrously good price in the black Friday sales.

I know I listed it as a suggested idea, so if you have already bought it, first of all I completely apologise, and secondly, please pm an intermediary on here to tell me and then what I'll do is I'll send the copy I've ordered straight back.

If you haven't ordered it, well then just ignore my rambling :)

Since I'm participating together with my girlfriend, we basically get two TTs at once. Double the fun!

Sorry, just to clarify PMs are still being sent? Haven't hard one yet; I'm not moaning at all, just want to make sure I'm not out of the loop here.

So I'm guessing by the recent messages that I should have recieved my TT by now? Come to think of it, I've received nothing since I filled out the original form to take part.

I think you guys might have missed the second form, or something bugged out perhaps? At the least you weren't on the list posted of participants here

Finished ordering bits for my TT today. Also going to make something for them as well. It was a lot of fun picking bits for them, I must say.

Conscious that they made life a bit easier for me than I probably did for my SS, so if they're reading this and they're struggling, they're welcome to ask more questions anonymously. Not that I mind though; I genuinely get more out of the giving!

Finished ordering for my TT. I had to resort to using online retailer as the shipping cost is prohibitively expensive.
I hope he/she likes it nevertheless. Also expect a card coming nearer to christmas, so don't open your gift early TT.

To those who missed out this year:

It was probably my fault. I made the mistake of doing a "straw poll" that gave people a false impression of having signed up. That will never happen again, I promise.

I apologize and hope that this doesn't sour you from wanting to participate next year.

Ordered my SS gift today! It should get there...long before Christmas, hah, but, it was a low-stock item. I'm going to side-eye it until I get the shipping notice...

Is this thread an AIO or will there be a separate 'post what you received' one?

Also, if anyone has links to the threads from previous years (PM, don't post public links to what's left behind) I'd like to take a look.

My TT was tough, but I just bought some presents that I hope he'll like. One may arrive until after Christmas, but he'll get something else in the meantime.

To my SS: I should probably try to give some more details about myself. I'm really into Canadian politics, reading (mainly YA with fantastical elements, ranging from Harry Potter to Artemis Fowl to Lemony Snicket to everything by Jonathan Stroud, and also superhero comics), biking (not hardcore, but I love cycling as long as there's no snow on the ground), veganism, and, of course, video games.

Hopefully that helps a little!

Do you still have access to the original poll? If enough people didn't make the jump from that to the final poll maybe it would be feasible to create a second gift exchange with the people left out?

Spent the last 3 days mulling whether it was the right gift for my TT, but finally bit the bullet and set the order today!

To my Secret Santa, Im ok with anything, but to make easier for you why not something about games? I have a PS4 that my wife has used as her primary netflix player, and really in love with the Switch. :D

I've got my TT quite a few things. S/he seems pretty easy to buy for thanks to the form s/he filled in, plus I've stalked posts a bit.

Just gotta find a box big enough to fit them all in now.

I do. I can do a quick cross reference to see. Watching a movie with the wife, but I will once we are done.

Some notes, ideas for my secret.

I live in a very small apartment in LA. So size constraints are an issue. I like movies and TV and podcasts and video games of course. Bob's Burgers, BSG, Buffy, Board Games The Babadook, Barry Lyndon, can't think of any more Bs, Spontaneanation, All Fantasy Everything, The Dollop. Biggest game I play is Overwatch. Sunk a couple hundred hours into that while I was listening to Podcasts and exercising. Zarya main for life. Also, I have an awesome cat named Wesley Wyndam Pryce.
