I have to agree that the menus and the whole online thing is confusing and also too much. Two different types of wheelspins, tons of online modes with no real explanation and lots of meta games and stats popping up every second. PG got the core game so perfect this time that I can overlook those issues but I would love to see a more streamlined experience with a more thorough and wholehearted presentation - the super clean party-whoop-whoop pseudo-hipster style is outdated and overdone. It all just feels a bit "over-engineered" to me and thus missing some soul.

Don't get me wrong - I still think this is the best racing game I ever played.

So I did the first 'Cars of Video Games' event, but I still don't see any more? I understand there are 10 of these, are they all level gated? I'm 41 currently.

I've completed 68/70 exhibition events thus far. As I understand, I have the Goliath left which unlocks at Level 20. What is the other event I'm missing as I've done all the dirt, cross country, drag and road races I can unlock.

I´ve played and own all the games in this saga and, while this entry does not reinvent the wheel, I´m finding it extremely funny and even better than the previous ones. Props to Horizon XS in this one, as I think it´s the best rock station in the four games. Foo Fighters, Killers and QOTSA are some heavy hitters but all in all it´s just too good.

How to continue with the other Horizon stories? I did the first one (about the movie) but the others didn't appear

Oh is this for all the other races too? I mean for street races etc? And for the stunt races ?

Just the races that have replaced the bucket list and have 10 chapters.

On the map it's listed as Stories and Businesses if you use RB to filter out the map.

LARacer
World's Fastest Rentals
Drift Club
The Stunt Club

How to continue with the other Horizon stories? I did the first one (about the movie) but the others didn't appear

The others will appear as you level, for instance LARacer will only unlock when hit player level 40. You can continue the stunt club by revisiting it.

I haven't played a racing game that I wanted to put a to on time into in forever. This game is changing that. It's just so much fun!

I have only just finished the tutorial section but I could see myself putting a ton of time into this game.

I just want to play through the campaign and missions with my brother in a co op like state where the game pretends the other doesnt exist. For example, we played through the stunt driver mission and loved it, its also a perfect example of what im talking about as well and if all the mission in the game could/can be played like the stunt driver missions id have 0 complaints. We could rewind and drive through eachother etc. Nobody else was in the match but us.... but the next missions we did together and selected co op (not sure which race it was) i didnt even have a car that i could compete with despite having played longer than my brother, i had to borrow my brothers car. We were in a "convoy" together so i assumed co-op would be together but from what ive heard from other friends who play, co-op is just a non pvp type race with othe players in your current session vs drivatars with no rewinding and some point system i didnt understand at the time. My brother and i were smashed off the road and out of a checkpoint early in the race and the rest of the race was spent in dead last with no hope of catching up...we lost to a guy named tasteynutjuice91 or something like that (im not sure what number he was but he was deff tasteynutjuice). It just seems overly complicated to play the way we want to play. I wanted to play through everything once with my brother and move on but it feels like you have to play through everything first by yourself if you dont want to have a compromised experience, and following that you revist the missions for multiplayer, which is fine but disappointing. Im sure we are doing something wrong and you can play the way we want to play, but after having put 10-15 hrs into the game i would have assumed i would understand how the multiplayer works but i still only have a small understanding. Like i said, it can all be summed up as overly complicated.

That is weird because it seems to give the option for either you and your party or everyone. Odd that it doesnt work for you I am sorry.

Guys, I need some general racing help. I've never seriously worked at getting substantially better in racing games but I genuinely want to do so now.

I'm participating in the Ambleside Village Circuit seasonal championship and having a hell of a time trying to compete with drivatar difficulty set to "highly skilled" or "expert".

I'm using the Alfa Giulia '17 at its default tuning settings, and I feel like I'm getting completely and hopelessly outclassed.

My other difficulty settings are pretty modest:
-ABS On
-Normal steering
-Traction control on
-Stability control off
-Shifting automatic
-Braking-only driving line
-Cosmetic damage
-Rewind on

I guess I just don't know how to drive properly for tight circuit races like this. I try following the driving line guidance and other cars zoom passed me around corners. I try optimizing faster than the driving line and I skid out. On straightaways everyone passes me. At the beginning of the race everyone passes me. I end up stuck in 6th place or worse and just don't know how to get any better on this. Even if I liberally use rewind after every little mistake it just doesn't help enough.

I figure that the default tuning settings for one of the recommended cars for this circuit should be enough for it to be possible to compete, right? Especially since all other cars automatically match the same class? Or could it simply be my car selection and its tuning screwing me over? (which itself would seem strange...)

I think what I really need are some beginner tips here or something because otherwise I'm just at a loss. Anyone have any good pointers?

I'm so angry right now. Trying to buy a Aventador FE to drive in, some ahole keeps spam buying every one of them. Totally ruins it for people like me who just want 1 to drive. There should be a daily bid limit or something. No matter how fast I am I simply cannot buy this car. And only get garbage cosmetics in wheelspins from my 150 wheelspins.

That sucks. So frustrating . Good luck I hope you get one soon.

Edit... Also the AM Vulcan FE... Holy shit it's like driving on rails. So fun to just fly around the world.

Thanks. I just gave up after an hour :).
Apparently if you are a legendary painter/tuner aka if your design has been liked, used etc for 50.000 times you can sell the car for like 20.000.000 instead of the normal cap at say 650.000. So these people just buy EVERY car and resell them for 5+ m. Aka abusing a system. Apparently it's the same in previous Forzas. Talk about a horrible idea. Legendary painters should get plenty of credits for their work. Not allow them to abuse the system. HeliosT10

For what it's worth, I generally consider myself good at racing games, and found myself struggling with the Alfa in that race on a difficulty level I normally don't find too bad.

Yep I forgot about that .but yeah I rememmbr from last versions them snapping up every reasonably priced auction as soon as it hits the bottom of the list.

I would refresh my search and would see a car pop up at a reasonable price at bottom and literally was gone in seconds by a legendary painter marking it up .

I just tried it with the car you mentioned and it's quite hard. Try with an AWD car like the Porsche Panamera or the Infiniti Q50 (upgrading your car to AWD will make it go to S1 class). Not only they are easier to handle, they are better at accelerating which is crucial in a tight circuit like this one. Don't be ashamed to do some dirty overtakes, there isn't enough space or time to race clean.

Also, this is the hardest race of the championship, so you can try the others first and calculate your position in this one in order to win the superwheel.

I have to say the AI is really making this not fun. I've completed too many races to not have seen one crash on their end. Racing in the snow or rain or any slick surface is no different than racing on a dry surface for them. I hate playing a racing that makes the user take more chances than necessary.

I can't seem to play this game for long sessions like I did for Horizon 3. I'll do two or three races and then I'll put it down and do something else.

Is it just me or is a week too long for seasons. The seasonal championships are best part but I think there are like 5 in a autumn and I finished them in a day. Now I'm back to doing exhibitions but I like the championships much better. I think it should rotate every three days maybe.

I've been totally out of it, but they changed the levelling system so that perks are per car now instead of universal like the previous games?

Same settings as you, but TCS and ABS off.

Then I thought it was too dirty and decided to try again, this time using the Infiniti

Still dirty but whatever, I wanted to win. You can see the rubberband in Forza pretty clear in these videos. Even though I was 5s faster with the Porsche, in both cases my gap was only 2s.

And as a bonus, the first race of the co-op championship.

After a series of mistakes (my teammate pushing me off at the start, the crazy drivatar and missing a checkpoint later) I said fuck it and played to win.

The other races were pretty clean after the start, so not really interesting to watch.

Does anyone like FH3 more than this game? If so what are your main reasons? Just curious as I'm gonna take a break from Autumn and replay some bits of all the previous games.

I do.

Things I liked more in FH3:
- The map/track design
- Soundtrack
- Car selection (Toyota and Mitsubishi are a big plus for rally and JDM)
- Forza edition cars, not only the bonus were better, the cars were cooler. I didn't even bother driving them here, except for the GT-R LM to reduce the grind
- No grind needed to unlock the last race
- Campaign progression (it was bad, but they made it even worse now)
- Bucket list challenges

Some minor things:
- Universal perks (at first I was hesitant to change cars in FH4 and start again)
- Skill song unlocked from the start and not capped at x10.0

The new additions (houses, animations, clothes, seasons, forzathon live) did nothing for me.

Impressed some of you are plowing through these achievements. I have no idea how the heck or if I'll ever 3 star every story race.
Some story events have more than one route to complete. It was kinda silly to see the director say "hey, I wanna film this route" and then you just drive directly to the destination regardless of the route and 3-star the event.

IMO, the hardest thing in the game are the drift zones (the drift club story is pretty simple since the roads are large and you can just drift on straights).

Picked this up from GamePass. Just rocking the 2010 Maserati GT so far; downloaded a custom tune-up and it destroys everything on fairly high difficulty (whatever the one after "highly skilled" is). Just got to spring; so glad winter snow-hell is over for now.

I like most of the mechanics and game systems of FH4 more but I much prefer the setting/map of FH3 and forzathon I thought was better in FH3, it feels kinda meaningless in FH4.

I really enjoy both games but if I could ONLY play one honestly I'd probably pick FH3. I also liked the radio station songs in FH3 a little more.

I really enjoyed the map/views in FH2 as well, Italy was just beautiful to tool around in a Lamborghini

i

FH3 forzathons were most of the time just simple XP and cash rewards.
FH4 forzathons award you points that you can spend in the shop that has new inventory every week, with several exclusive items.

Don't see how FH4 is more meaningless.

Huh, thanks all. I guess car selection and upgrades matter a whole lot more than I thought they would.

I had understood that your opponents will always be of a similar car class and upgrade tier as you, so maybe that's not truly the case?

I don't think you need to 3 star every story race (might be mistaken)? You just need a certain amount from the story (yellow) races for one achievement and then all danger signs, drift zones and so on.

Thanks. I just gave up after an hour :).

Really? Geez, what is wrong with PG? Some design decisions in this game are completely baffling, like if they never ever played any of their previous games themselves outside of some synthetic playtest sessions.

This has happened before and will always happen if they allow it ...

I think Horizon 4 is going to end up being one of those games where the visuals and core mechanics are amazing but then the actual game built around it is just okay.

I'm a little bit disappointed because Horizon 3 was an incredible foundation already and I was expecting them to just fix up the flaws and polish the experience all round. Instead they have sort of changed the structure of the game again and added a lot of extraneous stuff that didn't actually add to the driving aspect.

Forza Horizon 4 gives me what Forza Horizon 3 didn't...choice and ignore.

I can ignore street races or drift races or anything else and focus what i like, not being forced to do something i don't like.

This game feels and plays fantastic, when you turn certain things of the racing even gets better.

Finally finished that damned championship in 1st place Expert. Just took enough tries and perfection I guess! Used the Infinity Q50 fully upgraded to A-800 to do it.

Are you feathering the throttle round corners and only using brake when you need to?
Yeah definitely. I think the biggest issue was that the Q50 has a pretty shit turning radius. I tried some other cars and especially saw the Volve V60 able to take much tighter turns.

Is this Windows Store? Never pause downloads of that store front, it has a very high chance of failing if you do that.

Every time it's about to change seasons, I wonder if the next one will be as good as the one I'm in, and without fail, I'm impressed when it does. The same courses/circuits feel so different depending on the conditions and time of day. It's great!

Can't wait until winter is here, time to drive big trucks and lots of heavy things on ice racing.
