On a other note, this is a big win for reps. Trump played a weak hand and won. The idiot did it again, makes me question his intelligence lol

I really, really hope so. But nothing seems to have worked out recently so I'm become more and more anxious and nervous as next month's vote gets closer.
Doug Jones is sat in Jeff Session's old seat right now. Things can work out right when the Democrats are energized.

Does that mean Roe vs. Wade gets overturned in the next two years?

Republicans are in a bit of a dilemma here surely. It's like the carrot on the stick for Republican voters but what happens when they get the carrot?

If they don't try the Republicans have been playing them all along, obviously and if they do try then the backlash would be huge and you might see a massive drop in Republican voters because they won already on their big issue so why bother voting for them.

Has an revolution ever somehow worked against a nuclear power? Or I'm going guess there has not been one...for obvious reasons.

all i could have said has been said. nothing i can say now will change a thing. All I can do is wait to cast this vote of mine in november and cross my fingers that the voting system is real

pessimism says no, it's all an illusion. Optimism believes in this blue wave.

and no matter which of those feelings matter, i can still change nothing.

so im just going to defend those that need defending, help those i can help and ride this planet into the fucking ditch in the mean time! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Very sorry to see that this asshole got through. Make sure to make these monsters pay the price in every election from now on, regardless of how big or small it is, the US Republican Party abandoned and dishonoured Lincoln's legacy and needs to be tossed aside for the good of not just your country, but for the rest of humanity as well.

Also this effectively makes universal healthcare impossible in the USA. There is absolutely no way that these brainwashed conservative judges don't vote against it once republican states inevitably sue over it, if it ever became law.

I think this is a bad move for the GoP ultimately. If they had selected some right-wing, but even-tempered, boring and ostensibly "non-partisan" justice, they could reverse Roe V. Wade and people would simply say "elections have consequences" and "vote in November," but if it happens under Kavanaugh people will say the court is illegitimate.

What does elections matter when the SC can rule anything unconstitutional. Also this means that the SC will allow trump to pardon even state crimes very soon. If that happens trumps reign will start.

How likely is Trump to get to nominate another judge before the end of his term(s)?
Thomas could retire soon as rumored, and the two oldest justices are Democrat-appointed justices in their 80s. It's pretty unthinkable that at least one won't leave the court in the next six years. It could easily happen in the next two. So Democrats better fucking take back the Senate and they better fucking do it this November.

Another key swing vote, Sen. Susan Collins, stood on the floor for nearly an hour on Friday and defended her decision to stab women in the back by voting for an accused sexual predator who is hostile to abortion rights and reproductive rights in general.

Kavanaugh started this process as the most unpopular Supreme Court nominee in modern history. He ended it with even lower ratings — and for good reason. But Republican don't care about that. They wanted Kavanaugh on the court and nothing was going to stop them.

Republicans never cared about the sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh, just like they never cared about the sexual assault allegations against Trump. They never cared about Kavanaugh's accusers, just like they never cared about Trump's accusers.

With Saturday's vote, the GOP simply confirmed what we've known along — that sexual predators will always have a safe space in today's Republican Party.
Rename the Republican Party to The Sexual Predators club.

Don't kid yourself. Nothing substantial is going to happen. Y'all got an elected sexual assault admitter and nothing changed. America needs a good old fashion revolution and reconstruction of the constitution. Y'all getting played and are losing hardcore.
Nothing changes until this place goes full French Revolution. Chopping blocks, heads, spikes - the works.

Although I'm usually cynical, even I have a hard time believing the US government would turn nukes against its populace, mostly because it'd be a Pyrrhic victory that's both geopolitically and socially impossible to come back from.

I don't know enough about Thomas but I feel like his seat would most likely be the next Trump pick.

RBG not retiring during Obama's tenure still has to be one of the more irritating things in Dem politics of the last 10 years or more. If she dies in her sleep tomorrow the country is pretty much boned for the next 50 years.

GOP = Group of Predators

Mueller investigation looks bleek. Repubs just hiding evidence, SC that sides with the Prez.

They go after another one - gay rights, minority rights, religious discrimination, etc, etc.

And they'd probably push for extremely harsh penalties for women who terminate pregnancies while unplanned pregnancies will become a serious financial and legal burden for mothers unable to care for a child.

I mean, it can go far beyond just being overturned.
