So I was thinking of this when browsing the Forza Horizon 4 Photography Thread here on ERA. Some amazing captures in there, some are even hard to tell if they're real or not. But its not just FH4, but the God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn photo threads have some serious breathtaking moments in there.

I was thinking that as a developer of those games, or any game for that matter, it must be an amazing feeling to see what the community gets out of your games. Like stuff you wouldn't even think about that makes you feel so proud or amazed that you thought it was even possible. I see God of War's Cory Balrog still retweet captures from the community on his Twitter almost daily. And also the gifs from SunhiLegend, and all the various mods people create, fan art etc etc. It must be one of the reasons that drive a developer to keep going and working in the industry.

I'd love to see devs here on ERA to share some of these moments if they can relate!

The gaming community has the ability to do some really great things. When you look at the screenshots people are creating, the cinematic videos they are producing and just the all round enjoyment, it makes everything worth while.

I remember back when NFS 2015 was released, just sat watching all the insanely good screenshots flow in from Twitter and elsewhere, was a good moment. It's got to the point where some of the stuff our community has made, is now on our TVs in the reception at Ghost.

Might make the games, but as soon as they are released they become the communities.

Passion from the community is infectious.

On a very much smaller scale, I've made a card game that I've sold some copies of. It's a rush when people start using the names of the characters and assigning actions and properties to them (especially when they're actually accurate to what I intended).

On a scale of awesomeness as a creator, I guess it goes:

Enjoyment < engaging < fan creations < merchandise < movie adaptation

Tolkien once wrote something about how he wanted to create a mythos that could be built upon by others. Even if he wouldn't have approved of everything (cough Shadow of Mordor), I think overall he would have liked seeing how his idea lives on.
