Not quite sure what to expect here as I can't really conceive of an update that would provide a very compelling reason for me personally to want to upgrade.

Extra storage: I don't care about more internal storage space as external storage is quite cheap and i already have a large sd card.

Better battery: Longer battery charge is nice but my Switch doesn't leave the house much anyway so it's not really an issue.

More power: In terms of graphical power, I don't want (nor expect) Nintendo to make a revised system that fragments the current Switch user base by having loads more power, and so the gains here are always going to be minimal. At best you could hope for a resolution bump or parity between handheld and docked mode.

Ergonomics: I find the switch kind of uncomfortable in handheld mode, but i don't think that they would change the design of the joycons, and so it's pretty unlikely that this issue will be addressed.

Machine size: Once again, they are limited by the joycons. Unless they detach the machine from the joycon concept entirely, you can't make the device much smaller than it currently is.

Better screen: Sure, why not. Switch screen already looks great to me though, and I spend the majority of time playing it in docked mode anyway.

What else is there that people are expecting?

In fact no i checked this DF video : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBS80HA07pM they say that the X2 has twice the memory bandwith of the X1 better more CPU power and slighlty better GPU if i understand it right.
Oh, I see then.

If I were Nintendo though, I would launch a Switch Pro AND the equivalent to PS4's PS4 slim. The latter would be intended to supplant the OG model as the mass market option and maybe have shrunk down X1s for better battery life. "Switch Model E" or something.

Expected, for me the #1 priority is to remove the damn bezel and, besides that, I don't think they can do too much with the form factor, they have to keep the same size for the joycon rails (they are not going to make actual accesories incompatible) so I guess this is more a screen upgrade/internal revision (more battery?) and nothing more.

Oh snap, New Nintendo Switch XL Mini HDR VR. Let's go!

All kidding aside, we all expect some form of revision at some point, 2.5 years later seems like a logical timeline, but I doubt we'll get any such revision as some are expecting here. Non-removable Joy-Con? Which are required to play certain games? What? A Switch with the screensize of 3DS? What? This thread is going places.

If that makes the switch cheaper why not? Also you can always buy Joy-cons separately. but yeah Switch isn't going to a screen size smaller than Vita no less a 3dsxl.

The hell with Tegra X2.

Nvidia, hurry up and refresh Xavier to 7nm, cut out the automotive & AI stuff.

We need those 8 ARM cores and 512 Volta GPU cores in the new Switch!

As long as they don't do any garbage cheap ass move like they always like to do with revisions and improve on the many design flaws the original one has, especially joy cons, I'll be ready to jump back.

It's Nintendo, we should be glad to get a better display.

Anybody hoping for a spec bump will be sorely disappointed.

I usually don't mind waits in gaming anymore but when I think of Summer or later 2019 I think to myself

...damn.

I'd have been down for one this holiday personally!

I'd be pissed if I were Nintendo, WSJ stating this as if it's fact when nothing has been confirmed. Nintendo still has a hill to climb in reaching their 20m shipment goal, I'm sure they wouldn't want consumers 2nd guessing ther decision to purchase the "old" model.

Nvidia is done with the X1 and have no interest in shrinking it. The X2 is the natural move for them.

I'm not clear why they would have an issue shrinking X1 if Nintendo asked them to. Its tens of millions of orders. With fewer cores and no Denvers it would be a smaller and cheaper to manufacture chip, so it's not like it has zero advantages over conventional X2. They will likely be custom either way.

Man why the hell did I even buy a Switch? I should have just waited. Fuck being an early adopter, it's never a good idea in the games industry.

Don't feel bad, bro. I own a base PS4 and PS4 Pro doesn't have enough pull.

I own a Switch too. If a Switch Pro comes with some cool stuff... maybe I'll get it.

I have fond memories of my Switch lol

X1 is based on maxell and X2 is based on pascal and the majority of the performance gains between the two is the die shrink allowing higher clocks.

This is how the Pacal based GTX 10 series was so kick ass, it was basically the maxwell 9 series with more cuda cores AND running at much higher clocks due to the new process.

The 20 series RTX is the generational leap 9 and 10 is basically the same tech.

Was contemplating getting the switch this Xmas, but definitely holding off now. I'll wait to see what this revision is.

imagine buying a console because of the size of the freaking chip

Haha, there is always some guy doing stupid posts like this. Go fanboy somewhere else.

Size of the chip? Number one I basically said new chip, new design, and more power. That is what 7nm should get you in this day and age. The Switch has shit image quality, and the console portion of it is ridiculously dated.

While it's a great handheld, it's time for Nintendo to invest their expertise in something new. I'm sorry this hurts your feelings.

Some people actually want Nintendo to make a console with decent tech.

It makes a pretty noticable difference in mobile devices, where the power savings amd efficiency gains are amplified by the thermal constraints and limited battery. Even if Nintendo were just to put in a die shrunk X1, at that size it would likely be passive cooled with several more hours of battery life.

what is happening to gaming is disgusting, you cant barely buy a game at release because almost 80% of the cases is the cut version and if you want the complete edition you have to wait for the goty or "whatever complete edition", but now that is happening to the consoles too, I cant buy a console on release, because a couple years later, they will release a more powerful console at same price... and I don't talking about slims versions.
This is happening because you "customers" allowed it, if you want to buy a new hardware or new product every 6 month or every year, this is nor your market, go to the pc or mobile...

Unless I'm missing something, I'm not sure why others' purchasing habits bother you so much. Am I missing something?

Hopefully they go PS4-Pro aka N3DS on this one right out of the gate. Imagine a Switch that outputs all games at native res in handheld with better framerates. That's really all I want. 1080p would be slick too, but let's not overdo it :S

Oh my god I'm out. You're acting like a child. Get over it dude. Next you'll be reporting me because I said something naughty about the Switch.

I'm so sorry you cannot handle that people want Nintendo to make a new system on the newest tech out there. DEAL WITH IT.

I had being reading up on a mod for the Switch that allows you to play pirated material, I guess this is Nintendos reaction to it as from what I understand they can't patch it out via a F/W update.
