Not sure what's causing your problem TeenageFBI . Typically killing the user folder is the silver bullet for that sort of stuff. There should be a game.log file in the LIVE folder which might give more clues to what's going on.

I guess I'll post the parts where stuff breaks down. I can provide the whole file to a dev if they're in the thread.

Knowing 3.0 is literally downloaded onto my computer and not being able to play is pure suffering.

Would someone be interested in live stream? I'm currently downloading PTU so it should be ready in 2 hours. I'll gladly take any requests before and during the stream. I would stream to Mixer as I prefer it because of better latency and interface.

EDIT: Here's stream if someone wants to watch https://mixer.com/RAZORzdenko

Hey, so, is this going the way of No Man's Sky but with a multiplayer component? 'Cause NMS is great now, but I'd like to see other people with character models.

I managed to play some yesterday. Took me a while to get used to the changes but so far I`m loving it.
My favorite thing to do in game is watching the night day cycles on the planet and from space, love seeing the darkness and light move around.
Can`t wait to get home tonight to play some more! I`m gonna go exploring for some ship wrecks :D

Far more then NMS in terms of future prospects (if things stay the course) and no-where near the same level of "flexibility' with words. Despite NMS's "turnaround". You'll be far more informed, about present and future content then you may be ready for or really comprehend. But they'll shown never the less.

On a more reasonable/thought-out scale in regards to the environment, game-play, interaction, sociability, visuals and they have the resources/man-power to see it through. An yes, you can see other players, get on the ship of other players, take from other players, combat other players and AI. But mind you it's still early in regards to the implementation of some of the more meaty mechanics and features, an development overall in more then a few ways.

But 3.0 ( the brass tax phrase) is the least big round up of a new foundation being laid down. That will allow CIG to flesh out the different builds they put out, without having to wait for something specific to be finished. So patches will be releasing semi-annually; big or small doesn't matter, as long as stuff gets tested. All leading up to the next big patch. It's all a process and we get to test it all.

Overall 3.0 is a big stepping stone but it's still small in comparison to what comes after. Which is saying a lot.

First time flying the Aquila, using the new mobiglass, flying to yelin, landing and exploring a research base. Gave me the chills the entire way. So excited for what is to come. Those crazy loons did it.

I can log in, but can't get to Crusader. Can get to the hangers, but can't use lifts in 3 of the 4 I have access to. Still got vanishing light reflections, has awful flickering of computer displays unless you are standing right beside them.

So much seemingly added, so much still broken. *sigh*

Watching somebody play this yesterday I realised: this game reminds me so much of the golden age of PC gaming (mid/late 90's): it is a PC game on such a high technical level and scale that it feels like it could never run on ANY other hardware for years to come..
Like seeing Unreal for the first time or playing Jedi Knight: Dark Forces 2, or Wing Commander.
This game really makes me want to build a another windows gaming pc!
I hope they continue to make great progress because the way the light interacts with everything.. it just feels next level.

I really cannot imagine how this game is going to work as an MMORPG from a technical perspective. When I look at other online games and how limited they are in their interactions and yet how much trouble they have on a technical level how is this supposed to work on this scale? Imagine dozens of ships in some orbit around a planet with multiple players per ship, flying, shooting, another bunch of them in the bay, all kind of stuff going on, people on the ground, vehicles and so on. No matter how much server power they have, no matter what your computer is, the network bandwith (and speed) is still way too limited for this being feasable it seems...

This isn't the limiting factor. The limiting factor, if any, is the CPU scalability on the servers. Bandwidth is cheap, games don't actually use a lot of bandwidth, they're latency sensitive first and foremost.

This is what I mean by speed. Imagine Counter-Strike and WoW merged into one. Plus the servers are basically forced to compute everything that is gameplay relevant to prevent cheating. I have no idea how they are going to solve this.

Would not mind you writing out your issues that you have seen. This is a forum to discuss the good and bad about a game. Can't really watch the video, but it probably highlights some bugs? Most likely, I've experienced them. Hell, I could not even speak with anyone because my chat box kept disappearing when I first crawl out of bed.

It's funny how you can look up a two hour video to find things wrong and yet couldn't find the video aptly named "Star Citizen: Subscriber's Town Hall - Cargo & Shopping" to answer many of the questions you linked to. I guess it would be hard to find except it is on the RSI website, on Star Citizen official Youtube channel, and was posted in our OT thread on Tuesday.

Does this answer some of those burning questions for you?

Of course many of those questions are answered by simply looking at any 3.0 video that includes cargo, but that is to be expected as that thread seems to be about seven months old.

Might there be a sale happen anytime soon because of Christmas? I am interested in the game and played some free periods plus having recently binged Star Trek: Discovery made me want to get a space fix, I just don't want to buy it if it gets on sale 1-2 weeks later, Christmas is a expensive time as it is :P

You know what sucks, knowing that I could potentially try out 3.0 right now, only that the VRM on my mobo went up in flames recently and there's no warranty on it anymore. And I don't have the cash for a replacement or an upgrade. So keep posting the stuff you can do in the game, I'll enjoy it vicariously through all of you and hopefully I can get a new (better) system in a couple of months. :)

Thank you, ResetERA. Once again proving that this is not the other place; it's better in every way, to my eyes. Now, back to 3.0...

Can't wait. I'm just going to sit and watch the sun rise and set on every moon. Should keep me busy until 3.1, right?

The only thing shit about it that I can see is that people are flying Cutlasses.

What does it feel like hearing the bolts rattling out and rolling around while you fly?

Did you take the breach alarms out after the first time the cheap scrap metal you call your hull started flaking away, or did you wait for the second or third time?

I don't know why anyone would want to fly anything but an Anvil© craft. You're basically signing your own death certificate in anything else.

Paid for by Anvil Aerospace LLC. Strike while the iron is hot.

Just as a point in general, I think the terms "Alpha" and "Beta" have kinda been washed away in the current persons head with the advent of early access games. Star Citizen isn't "alpha" in the sense of PUBG where they're going to add vaulting and a map and call it done, it's an Alpha in the traditional game development sense. This game has a FAR way to go, everything that we seen now WILL be improved in future releases, this is literally an Alpha and it shouldn't be hailed as anything other than an internal milestone passed to get more functionality into what will eventually be a finished product. Nothing is final, things are broken because they're still iterating on these aspects or they're still in full development. We're going to see tons of bugs for the years that this game has left to be finished. The fact they got it polished enough to play a good chunk of a game while they're still in full, heavy development is something that should be appreciated, finding bugs is good so they can fix them, harping on them for pushing a buggy Alpha is kinda weird, since that's what you'd expect out of an Alpha. This isn't what they're shipping as a final product, we have a long way to go and so far other than a really buggy mobiglass and lack of functionality so far I've had a good bit of fun playing 3.0 and I'm looking forward to the future.

Of course many of those questions are answered by simply looking at any 3.0 video that includes cargo, but that is to be expected as that thread seems to be about seven months old.

It's not about these specific things that people like you should be concerned with, but it is the combination of ALL the possible questions that could be asked regarding everything that has been promised by CIG for years, because such questions are essentially technical debts CIG need to pay back to backers by delivering them all, but even that's still not the whole picture either...

The whole picture is when you combine those questions and technical debts with the reality of what has been achieved after 6 years and 160 million usd...

And that is including the very fact, that this pathetic 3.0 PTU version is already NOT EVEN A FRACTION of what was initially promised to the backers in 2016 that was supposedly delivered to the backers before the end of 2016...

AND EVEN THEN, even that, lol, THAT WAS, just yet also anything but a fraction of what SC supposed to be, according to the virtual carrots that were being waived in front of backers for years and made us (some of us), paid ridiculous amount of money (FOR SURE AT THIS TIME, is way more than EA's delayed SWBF2 micro transaction shenanigan that apparently SC backers would be against).

In case anyone don't understand, the original 3.0 didn't have things like star systems jumping, or say, mining or passenger gameplay and the likes, heck AFAIK CIG never even said things like the ETA for Vanduul/UEE (major faction) AI system... Or to elaborate, what I mean just now is the AI system that govern the way the Vanduul or UEE would 'behave' in the game, this is basically like the AI in 4x games and such (stellaris, civ. eu etc).

And yes they need to be that complex or otherwise sc wouldn't work, this is not like in open world rpg like witcher 3 or skyrim or the likes where generally the AI would only govern individual npc with their very limited daily routine...

But wait, surprise...! Actually sc would also need such AI which is why CIG has been trying to demonstrate their subsumption AI doing things like eating or mopping the floor.

But that's still half the AI, the other half of the AI is indeed need to be at 4x games scale and scope of an AI....

And no that isn't exactly never been done before like the faithful would try to label it, because games like the X series have done it.

However, guess what, even CIG just admitted recently that they are having problem with npc that are the likes of miles eackhart and the static npc t-shirt shopkeeper that are completely static!

Nevermind revealing that they are having some trouble with miles eackhart that is busy living his virtual life running around the entire stanton system, CIG is having problem with the miles eackhart that is locked into his chair in a bar!

That is a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the AI that is absolutely needed to be in sc and even that, is not working correctly!

Remember the promise? Living breathing dynamic world where the all persistent npc outnumber players 10:1.

Does that inspire confidence for anyone who want to play this game?

Oh, my wall of text you read above? That is also still a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the wrongs and the concerning things that I can talk about for this game.

Exploration, for example, how do we suppose to find new things in sc? Are we going to have scanners? Is it going to be spaceship scanner or personal scanner or both? How does it look like? How does the scanning mechanism work? What are the things that can be scanned? How do we get the data? What kind of data are we going to get? How do we keep the data? How do we differentiate between the kind of things that we can scan? How do we verify data? How do we submit the data to whoever? How do we transfer the data? Is data trading even a thing? How does data collection race work (because you are not alone)? Can you manipulate the data? Can you even get errors/corruption for the data? How does data/info running even work (hello Herald)? And etc and etc...

Bonus, still remember about the AI thing we talked above? Here is a surprise for those who don't know, in sc, the npc AI is supposedly indistinguishable from players, and that also mean that the npc is supposedly playing the same game as players do, no hand waiving space magic is allowed, if we the players are supposedly exploring in a 5 men manned constellation (ship) in which every single of the crew have different and specific job to do to make the exploration successful, then so does the npc, imagine yourself how ridiculously complex that would be, and oh don't forget to ask whether or not your pc and the servers (hello mmo) can run that with acceptable performance.

And don't forget about the food, and the digestive system of your avatar, because you know, pooping is a thing in sc, as is getting drunk from alcohol... And don't forget that the npc must be able to eat, get drunk and take a poop too... (yea this is a thing because passenger mission would have you serve food and beverages to npc!)

Because of FIDELITY.......!

Do I still need to go on?

Yeah I know, I've been through most threads on GAF because I'm really interested in the tech behind the games and I always saw this bullshit. Sad to see it followed here.

That crap is gonna be there even after beta. Which is annoying and kind of sad to realize that. Despite the many, many hours of game-play and sheer of amount of information that would have been produced by CIG at that point.

There will still be a group out there ready to piss on the parade. Regardless if their out of date, positions make any sense or not.

Remember the promise? Living breathing dynamic world where the all persistent npc outnumber players 10:1.

I should point out that this was not promised. There are 10:1 agents in the simulation. They aren't all actual physicalized NPCs.

The agents are there to keep the world simulation stable, and prevent undue influence of players on things like the economy.

Also of note, they said that the crowd simulations aren't necessarily tied to the agents.

There is a massive amount of other misinformation in your post, but I'll leave it up to somebody else to tackle the rest of it. I don't have much interest in determining if the inaccuracies are genuine or whether we're being gish galloped.

No, please don't. Ever.
Because your dreaming is much better than the reality, and you couldn't cope with the reality?

If CIG is allowed to sell virtual jpegs with ridiculous prices based on dreams and theory crafting then I'm allowed to question every single thing of them.

And so should you and everyone else.

Though a nice chunk of that ratio will be visible and intractable. When you go to populated areas. But yeah outside of that. We aren't gonna see millions of npcs in one sitting. Just a good amount to give the exploratory spaces, we'll see/visit some legit life and movement.

The two are only connected at a high level. For example agents will determine the degree of economic activity, which then will be reflected in specific NPCs but only loosely connected to more background crowd simulations.

There isn't much point in such granularity for NPCs which you cannot really interact with directly

I've been waiting for this patch for, what, a year now? I really wish my copy would launch rather than immediately crash. I'm not having trouble in other graphically intensive games so I don't know what else to try.

edit: It's weird. The game freaks out as soon as it automatically tries to go from a window to fullscreen. If I alt-tab at that point, I see the old Windows XP style task switcher, not the Windows 10 switcher. Once the program finally crashes or I kill it, the task manager goes back to normal.

It's also pretty strange that the new launcher eats up 16% of my CPU and 5% of my GPU just sitting idle.

Pretty much and it's unnesscary. Especially at a certain point you'll start getting the clone effect.

Lol. I'm not an alt, I just used to do trolly marketing posts on 4chan threads before I stopped going. I own an M50 and the Colonel pack with the Sabre, both LTI, though.
It was more of an in-joke than anything lol. Rephin is our org's resident Anvil addict, so your comment just fit too perfectly. Already been busting him today on when he's going to pick up the upcoming Hawk.
