I didnt have high hopes for the Cubs in the playoffs because they were hurt and tired with the bullpen in shambles but this was the worst thing about getting knocked out. They let two road teams celebrate at Wrigley two consecutive days.

Well whatever still have a 2016 World Series chip so it's no the worst thing in the world.

As a Brewer fan, seeing the Brewers end the year celebrating in St Louis and then Wrigley has been my personal nirvana after being on the wrong end of that so many times

I went to bed after the Rockies scored a run in extra. Waking up to the Cubs losing is nice. The meltdown circle has been completed!

Actually the Yankees need to get bounced in the first round for it to be totally completed, but I am biased so meh. CLOSE ENOUGH.

The Cubs came at them first, can't blame the Brewers. I wish I could experience this feeling of revenge served cold.

Heyward ain't going anywhere.... I mean where would he go for that contract?

Russell is gone, the rest are replaceable. They may keep Cole. They are stuck with Chatwood!

Curious to see where Harper ends up?
Heyward can opt out
Russell ruling hasn't happened yet, so I'm not assuming he's gone
I don't know if Theo is willing to pay Hamels 20mil a year, which is his club option. I'd love for him to stay tho, and the baseball gods know the Ricketts could afford him.

The Cubs can afford Harper, but I don't know if I want him for 500mil dollars after the meh year he had this year. I could see him going to the Mets, Angels, Texas tho.

Some of y'all are delusional. Heyward has $120m+ coming to him over the next 5 years and over the past three years has delivered a total 5.1 WAR. There's more likelihood of the planet being sucked into a black hole today by 3PM than there is of Heyward opting out. The more the option is even uttered the dumber we all get for having to read it.

Heyward to opt out to make less money? He's not opting out unless he's An idiot.

Harp ain't making 4-500M.

All you ousted Cubs fans need to root for the Tribe now. It's our turn to finally win one <3
Love Tito, loved your ballpark and that neat area from the main street of bars into the fan area between stadiums, when I went for the WS. I'm betting Red Sox end up in the WS if everyone is healthy, but wouldn't be upset if the Indians went to the WS and beat up the Doyers or Brewers

Cubs basically need Heyward to opt out and remove the overrated manager Maddon..............he got carried to that WS win in 2016, almost lost you folks the one chance in 108 years.

Managers don't affect winning a ton of games.........but they sure as hell lose them.

Have we moved from Denial into Bargainning in regards to Heyward skipping the Anger stage of grief entirely?

Heywards speech in the 10th inning of the rain delay from the 2016 world series win makes his contract worth it.

Is what I say to make myself feel better as he will never opt out

All year I was hoping Heyward was going to play well and maybe tear thru the playoffs just so he might opt out. He did have a decent year but yeah, he is not going anywhere.

I can't root for the Brewers strickly because of Braun. My teams are Indians, As and Rockies.

Its going to be Dodgers and Yankees tho because thats the last thing I want.

About 10 years ago I started following baseball. Some American acquaintances told me whatever I did not to follow the Cubs, so obviously that's what I ended up doing. Endured like 6 years of them being absolute bottom tier baseball team, and that was fine. I got into them and into baseball. Obviously I still felt like a bit of an outsider when they won, I didn't fully deserve it as a self-inflicted rookie fan.

This year's probably been the most fun I've had watching a baseball season. So many good stories, interesting profiles. So many tight races. Great start to the playoffs. And all the fun has been because of other teams than the Cubs. Just baseball fun for the whole family.

Speaking of Braun, I hope Counsell does the smart thing and keeps Braun out of the 3 hole spot in the playoffs. He was way more effective behind Aguilar and Shaw

Sending all my energy to the A's. I think I would rather have the Red Sox face the Yankees matchup-wise, but having the Yankees dropped in the wild card would be pretty cathartic too.

It's easily Joe's finest year as manager with the Cubs. I don't want anyone else.

That's awesome. Yeah, baseball was fantastic this year. Sport has been happily dying for over 100 years now.

Nashville
I'll be honest I don't hate the cubs team itself. What I said about Baez being a jerk was just my interpretation of his comment he made a few hours before the game. I'm sure he's a good person overall. However, I lived in Nashville and there is a lot of Cubs fans. A few of them were just very egotistical about the recent success. I mean hell, I wanted the Cubs to win the World Series a few years ago. It's just some of the fans I know in nashville tarnish my view of the fanbase overall so it made me wish their team would lose to get payback.
Don't get me wrong I like Rizzo, KS, KB, kinda like Baez since he elevated his game this year, hell I like Bote. Just one some fans I know made me wish them too lose, and two I want a different NLCS.

I adored the Cubs back when it was Jody Davis and Ryno and all that... but then they worked over Andre Dawson at the height of collusion, and now the ownership are certainly not my cup of tea. Hating the Cubs is perhaps a bit strong, but preferring some other team gets a shot given some of the.... personalities.... like Baez and Murphy on the Cubs? Seems cool to me.

Current Cubs ownership didn't have a hand with Dawson though. In fact they brought him back as an ambassador for the team. Outside of this, curious what Tom Ricketts have done wrong. He hired arguably the best executive in the game and then sat back and let Theo do his job without any interference. If you are talking politics I try not to let that stuff interfere in sports and really has nothing to do with the team on the field.

It's better as a Cubs fan to be another evil empire than the lovable losers. It's great that national sentiment has turned on the Cubs somewhat. This means the team is doing something right in terms of becoming a winner year after year. Bring the hate, that means the Cubs are making yearly post season runs.

Love Ricketts! Best owner we've ever had. It's not saying much but he's been incredible!

Laura Ricketts is the only openly gay MLB owner so that's cool, makes it slightly more baffling how they handled the Murphy thing, but at least she went out to the stands and talked to fans about it.
