So at the very least it's the best Mario Party game in well over a decade. That's good enough for me.

Now hopefully retailers haven't colluded to end the B2G1 sales they normally run in October and we get one of those soon.

Rebranding it was a good idea, I admit I liked 8/9/10 but I started to miss the more classic gameplay.

We got a family mario party party set up on release date. It's been forever and a day since the last classic mario party game.

So what happens if, out of the 4 boards in this game, only 2 of them are good? Like simply having less boards isn't a guarantee they're all going to be good.
Well, I made that post under the assumption that all the boards actually are good, based off of the post I quoted.
The low number of boards was a concern of mine as soon as they showed the Star Rush-type boards. They're fun enough, but I wish they had gone all in on the classic boards. Nevertheless, it's a huge step in the right direction for the series, and I hope they continue to build on this.
Honestly, I think Star Rush should be a main feature going forward. Before Super Mario Party (tentatively-speaking), the 3DS game that focused on it was the only good game ND Cube had released for the series. It's actually pretty cool having a board where you have free movement like that, and it's a nice change-up to regular board play, unlike a certain abandoned car mechanic.

I'm resubbing to GB Premium the second this gets announced. By far my favorite series on the site and I really want to experience some of that live.

Agreed, it was so damn good. I think 2 and 5 were my favorites. That fire jump rope scene where Jason kept cutting back and forth between them was unforgettable. And of course, the live show, with that Drew comeback....my god. You couldn't script it any better.

Alright I think I finally got the majority of reviews in the OP. Thanks to the two people who decided to call out my shameful 7/5 typo for the world to see.

Glad this is good, it's been too long since a decent Mario Party.

Haven't read the reviews yet, but do they mention to 2x2 Boards/Unique Mode? That seemed to be the most interesting part of the game, is it any good?

So to be clear, to play this game with 3 people I need 3 joy-cons right?

I only have the original 2. Just want to know if I need to buy another set.

That's all good enough for me. Will be grabbing it Friday. Sounds like a shortage of boards and minigames are the only thing holding it back. Dlc hopefully.

there's absolutely not a shortage of minigames, board yes but this thing is carrying the biggest amount of original minigames since...the original ?

So, has the game the classic board mode (Mario Party mode) available for single player (with 3 CPUs)? If so, instant buy for me.

I can't see this doing that well in terms of sales. I just don't see a lot of people putting down so much money for extra joycons.

I should clarify, several of the reviews point out that the side modes that restrict the minigames to certain configurations (partner mode for instance) lead to games recycling quicker.

I'm honestly pumped for the game though.

My friend is buying this game, I'm definitely visiting her this weekend before going to a common friend's party. It's been a while since I last played Mario Party.

Wrestling between getting this or not... I'm glad about the good reviews, but I only own two joy cons at the moment and don't feel like shelling out another $80 on top of the game.

Maybe get the game now then run out for that second pair around the holidays when family comes over.

Oh the minigames themselves are great but I can't see myself just playing them on their own over and over. It's good that the game actually has an online component but they really need to have the board game in there.

Its weird considering they already did arguably the hardest part, making the minigames function online.

Seems pretty half assed to leave the board game part out.
