Bought a VR headset today, and tried GT Sport.

All the tracks are available in VR (I'd heard otherwise) but some times of day are removed. And you can use any car in your garage. There's only one opponent and laps are set to 1/2/3 depending on the length of the track. But I drove round Nurburgring, Suzuka and Interlagos and it's amazing!! Pretty blurry but after your eyes get used to it, it's a great experience.

Also the races in VR count to your daily total, so you can grab your vehicle bonus by backing out and entering normal mode.

Showroom mode, where you walk around the car, uses the edited liveries of your cars too, looks really good.

Can anybody with a Logitech G29 and this game share their experience?

I've got a t300RS at the moment but having set it up for the first time in 3 weeks it seems like it's shitting the bed :(

G29s are currently cheap enough where I live to justify a quick replacement.

I know this game is super in to its "proper driving" with tutorials you have to do before playing online, but am I going to get shit for nudging during online races? Im not a psycho on the road but I have absolutely no problem with nudging someone off course in Driveclub if it means I secure the win.

DC has safeguards in place to stop you going mad and straight up crashing in to your opponents or cutting corners, does GT Sport have the same?
Yes and no - you will be penalised and then drive with the other knobs.

Also, time penalties reduce when you slow down.

VR has been amazing in this game tbh. and i think most of it has been down to the pro support. IQ in the headset is so much better than driveclub or dirt rally. i wish those games got patched to take advantage of the super sampling. it's really the only thing holding them back.

i'm really hoping we see some VR additions too down the line. at the bare minimum that would just be time trial mode (which seems incredibly simple to achieve). if they can allow us to tweak the AI difficulty and lap amounts in the 1v1 race that would be great too. ideal world they'd add more opponents (like they demo'd a few months back) and/or let us play online against someone in VR. becasue my current complaints with VR are entirely down to how short lived the experience is. 2 lap race against an easy AI opponent :/ i want to be in that world for hours, not minutes.

I'm using a G27 but as I understand it, it's basically the same thing. No complaints from me with the wheel itself, but the brake pedal doesn't feel anything like a real car. However, I've never used a Thrustmaster wheel so I can't really compare, sorry.

I really enjoy mine, but it's the first wheel I really spent out on. I've used thrustmaster but can't really remember it too much as it was a long time ago. The price drop on the G29 right now is crazy though and if you need a quick replacement I recommend it.

Hi all!
Right, so I'm a big fan of Forza. Hear me out. I love Forza Horizon 2 and 3 specifically.

When moving to PlayStation I tried GT4, 5, and 6, and disliked them all in comparison. Before I throw money down.. is this going to be very similar to the other GT games?

It's a Gran Turismo, so yeah lol

If you like The Horizon side of the Forza franchise then you should seek out other more arcade racing games. Have you tried the Forza Motorsport series? GT will be closer to that ie simulation driving on real tracks. Very different than a horizon game.

This is a great way to show and share liveries, sine the search option limits only to 24 h.

Nice! It'd be nice if people would share more of their designs in this thread, this has always been one of my favourite areas of Forza. I feel like I've waited forever for GT to add something like this, and wanted to see how it compared. It seems fairly good.

I'll be sharing mine when I get the chance.

Well, first thanks for the compliment... and second, define "better"? If you're talking about complex liveries with anime shit on them, GTS is flooded with that.
I personally like my liveries realistic and not too overly complex. There are also a lot of real life replicas and they look exactly like their original counterparts.

If you don't just want to troll, how about showing some of those 10 times better looking liveries.

You're damn right

The way I see it, the the current VR mode is a Time Trial mode basically. The companion car is there only to justify the invalidation of the times. I mean, when you approach to the AI to surpass it, it even light the indicator on to ease the pass as much as possible, so it doesn't really weight on the lap times. I hope PD will reconsider/revise the way times are calculated if it needs to be, and get rid of the dead weight.

Ok, I need some help. I just bought a Pro and 4K TV. When I start up GTS the resolution switches to 1080p automatically. I've ran display assistant multiple times in game and it still switches to 1080p after registering 4k for a brief second. Destiny 2 and Netflix display in 4K. Am I doing something wrong?

Both those games already have Pro enhancement patches for VR.

She's dead Jim. No power, nothing. Either I've been struck with the dreaded thurstmaster reliability bug or my wife killed it when I was sleeping (wouldn't shock me lol). I'm out of warranty and thurstmaster have been no help since I live in Dubai. They are saying I need to return it to the place I bought it but the warranty from them is over.

I'm using a G27 but as I understand it, it's basically the same thing. No complaints from me with the wheel itself, but the brake pedal doesn't feel anything like a real car. However, I've never used a Thrustmaster wheel so I can't really compare, sorry.

Thanks for the impressions guys.

I'll have a think about it but I'm swaying towards taking the plunge, especially given the price at the moment. Owned a g27 for 4 years before and it never let me down.

I mean, I don't mind Forza Motorsport.. I just couldn't get into GT 4/5/6. The controls just don't feel as good or something is missing. Was hoping GT Sport might have evolved(apart from graphically)

Mmm, thanks I sort of got it to work. But after compressing the file size, the decal uploader now gives me an invalid format error.
(I'm trying to upload the bottom text of this svg. There are so few anchor points I have no idea why it weights that much)
The decal uploader does not support compressed SVG or svgz. You can try to optimise the uncompressed SVG to reduce the size.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/user-decals-a-tutorial-on-how-to-make-svg.361630/ is a good resource about SVGs.

I'll try to take a look at your SVG when I get the chance. Nice logo btw :)

Update: Here is the optimized SVG containing just the bottom text of the original SVG, at 9.3kb. Is this what you were after?

Just got it, played a couple hours.

For all the criticism, it's a fantastic driving experience, absolutely top class. For 30 euros it was a ridiculous steal.

I want to start driving manual (how I drive in real life) but it affects my performance. When is the best time to shift up - when the revs have maxed out or just beforehand?

Another thing I don't like much is that the cars you have in your garage don't seem to mean much. In 'Arcade Mode' you always have a selection of other cars, whereas if you were limited to your garage cars then getting a new car would feel like it means something. I basically haven't use one of my own cars yet at all.

The online racing is absolutely superb.

Well, to be honest, I can't stand these anime liveries, so I'm a bit annoyed of how many there are.
I admire the skill involved, but I wish they would use it on other styles. Especially since most of these liveries practically have the same theme,
some underage anime chick in a "sexy" pose with some graphics around.

QFT.

Have to warn you about the Project Cars 2 demo that popped out today. I tried it and got a hang of it and now I'm struggling to get back to GTS. It has really different feel to it.
Too bad the framerate seemed bad and weird, I want to buy it. I don't want to drag my wheel in front of PC to play one game.

Evolved probably isn't the best word to use. GTS is a simulation of driving in real life, it's not going to be easy to drive around a 200+ HP car with just you're thumbs on a DualShock, you have to practice and get better, and many cars have a different feel to them. Even with the Arcade update and tons of races added with more cars, that won't chsnge. GT will be GT, and I think it's the best controller experience of any racer atm.

The game has evolved though, it's an even better sim now.

What is the norm for playing on pad when it comes to automatic vs. manual shift? Okay to go with automatic or does manual give an edge?

Okay, I have never really played GT games. The most I have played of a GT game was GT2 back on the PSX well over a decade ago. I remember it being pretty fun back then - but I have mostly stuck with the Forza franchise for my racing fix. With the recent... decline of the franchise in my personal opinion (in regards to the mainline entries - I feel the horizon offshoot are as strong as ever), I was thinking of jumping into this franchise with GT Sport.

Is it worth it? Is there anything I should particularly note when coming into it that I may not fully appreciate having played mostly Forza titles? I have heard it is far more of a sim game. This worries me as I know about as little of cars as you can. I just like driving pretty cars that go fast. Will not knowing the core customization of traction/engine/brake lines cause issues?

Thanks!

So I picked up forza 7 yesterday after enjoying GT sport and what a shit show online it is compared to sport everyone just runs each other off the track and drive like shit. GT sport does such a good job making sure everyone is racing clean.

Got to level twenty so I could run Nurburg, so so good. I'm really loving the game, and have yet to tackle the online at all.

Also, PD need to do the UI for the PS5 OS. Sony did a shitty job every single time, and they have a team that consistently produces the most functional and beautiful UI work around. It's crazy.

I cleaned my headset's lenses with a lens cleaner before trying finally trying out the VR mode in GTS (I've had the PSVR since its launch, just never got around to trying GTS). As I was playing, the odor of the solution being present gave off that 'new car' smell. It was pretty amusing and kind of awesome.

Starts w/ kart and then Renault Megane around 5.50

Despite what's been said abt. the VR (even by Kaz himself), I think what's there is sooo good. Really wish they do more with VR.

UI is pretty pleasing but I question some design choices like having no shortcut to top menu (the current fastest way is going takes two button presses plus cursor scrolling, it should be touch pad button like Driveclub), and hiding away the garage from the top menu.
But overall it's pretty good!

Not underage, it's a thousand year old demon!!!!!

I love how all custom liveries look in GT:S more so than in any other game ever; because of the lighting it often really feels as if you are watching that car IRL

Regardless of how good the G29 might be, I'd steer clear of Logitech's wheels.

I bought a G27 for GT5, and Logitech decided not to offer updated drivers for it on the PS4, and now it won't work on any PS4 games.

Meanwhile, Thrustmaster's wheels made for PS3 received PS4 support.

With the helmet cam effect and the lower resolution that smears out artifacts, it actually does look more real.

Yeah, and what you can't derive from the video is the 3D sound which, coupled with that helmet cam effect, really intensifies situations like screeching, driving along a trackside curb, or off course. Like, you feel really bad abt. what you're doing to the car's suspension ;)

I was thinking a few days back why I'm so fascinated by custom liveries in GTS and I'm 100% sure that's because of how the game looks . PD just nails lighting, shaders and colors. It just makes the liveries look stunning, specially when you got different finishes like chrome and matte on the same livery.

Just tried VR in this and for the first time ever I was bummed that the hardware doesn't yet allow cleaner graphics it's just so nicely done and as such immersive it's a shame really. While Driveclub made me nauseous and Farpoint had to be split into 30m sessions I had absolutely no problems with this. As I said if the graphics were just a little bit cleaner I would play exclusively in VR, this is the future of facing games.

Also how do you get the cart?
