I sank many hours into this years ago. But I think I got it for $1 or $2. What are they going to charge for the Switch version? I'm guessing it'll be too much

First glimpse of the UI. Apparently Dungeon Village is coming as well, all three of them next week.

MegaMall Story was my personal favorite. But Game Dev Story was the gateway drug. Hoping there is new content to justify a re-buy.

Cool to see Kairosoft branching out from Mobile. Switch is the perfect platform for them to move to.

Hell yeah!!

I'm buying whatever they put on the eShop.
I have fond memories of at least 7 of their games.

It's a great game, but a little over-simplistic. Once you get your groove after you've got about half a million in the bank provided you don't over-extend yourself it's plain sailing until you're making hundreds of millions and then billions. The only real way they complicate it is through cheap ideas like blackouts. Been replaying it recently on my phone and it's very addictive in the short term but can't keep me engaged over longer periods.
This was pretty much how it worked for me. Game Dev Tycoon did a much better job of smoothing out the difficulty, although I still don't know how reviews work in that game.

That being said, I'm too much of a sucker for game dev games, and if there's any new content it's almost gonna be a guaranteed buy for me given it's appropriately priced.

Updated thread title per OP's request. Had to do a little fiddling to get it all in under the character limit.

Game Dev Story is <3

I remember the moment I made FFVII for a 3rd-gen system and sold fucking gangbusters and didn't have another megahit of that magnitude until I made Monster Hunter. Good times.

A little disappointed that Hot Springs story is the third game but we'll probably be inundated with them soon.

I think my favorite is still MegaMall Story, so good. It's like Tiny Tower if it didn't suck.

Slight correction, it was the other way around.

Game Dev Story and Hot Springs Story were first announced. And then today, Dungeon Village was announced. But all doesn't matter in the end, because all 3 games are coming out simultaneously on October 11, in all regions.

Oh man. I had to force myself to uninstall Game Dev Story on my phone because it was sucking up so much time. Cannot wait for this on Switch. Hope they eventually release the sequel here.

This is pretty damn awesome, in a way. Those are some damn good games, and people who hadn't played them yet are sure to have fun.

I really hope they polished the UI/UX and did something about the battery drain of these games. I loved Dungeon Village in particular, but the menu-laden game loop and lack of (polished) touch controls really annoyed me. Plus, my phone would always start to melt down when I played e.g. GDS for more than ten minutes at a time, for reasons unknown. I refuse to believe that their (Game studio/Hot Springs/Village) simulation is so high grade that they need to slurp all the juice out of the switch within twenty minutes of launch.

Also unsure whether I really want to buy these games again. I've already played the everloving bejeezus out of them. I guess I could splurge on Dungeon Village once more, for old times' sake.

I mean how did y'all know about it then?
At the time when the app, Game Dev Story, was released, there was no eye-catching title than this. There was no games anywhere with the title "Game Dev" on Android Market (at the time it was called). The moment I see that it's listed as a game, it's a simulation genre, and it has "Game Dev" in the title, I thought, why not, just play the demo version. The demo version is free for up to 5 minutes in-game, enough to experience what it was like to start a company, hire an employee, and publish a game.

And that's when I saw the premise of the game, and went to town with the app.

That's how I know about the game.

Will buy if it has new content.

Like, real new. I gotta check, might e bought the majority of the kairosoft games, but haven't really bothered over the past few.
I think their recent ones was the car game, and the town one with some awful pay mechanic or timers. Can't remember, but I dropped it fairly quick.

Dungeon Village or Hot Springs Story should be up your alley then. I don't expect much to be really honest.

These have popped up in the coming soon section of the Australian eShop. Game Dev Story is shitloads more expensive than the mobile version ($15 AUD compared to $3.50). No mention of any new content.
Oh, so it came out, with the price tags and et. al? Updating OP, but if anyone else is able to tell me the MSRP in your respective regions, hit me up.
