Man.. is that the official poster on RT? Looks fucking terrible. I will eventually watch this when it's out on video but dang at those reviews.

From the prediction thread

This is probably the hardest game to predict yet. I agree with some others that Boxoffice.com is seriously underpredicting Venom though. They did the same thing with IT last year. Their initial long range prediction was $40M. The film opened to $125M. Signs of a huge opening were there over 6 months from release.

Still terrible reviews, and some of those trailer views being reflective of memes rather than true interest could lead to a huge swing. But, for now I am thinking closer to Suicide Squad than Fant4stic.

VENOM DOMESTIC OW:
$126.0M
FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 DOMESTIC OW: $68.0M
AQUAMAN DOMESTIC OW: $85.0M
and because why not

VENOM DOMESTIC OW: $110.5M
FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 DOMESTIC OW: $65.0M
AQUAMAN DOMESTIC OW: $85.0M

Notice how every non marvel film get dumped on. Something's fishy....maybe marvel is laying these critics to lower audience perception of competitors films

Why can't Sony Corp hire competent studio heads for their pictures division, I don't get it. They should of let Andrew house run it. I mean they have some successful division but the picture always had bad leaders. Is there any particular reason as to why? I think the new ceo should really shake things up over there

We don't really need to take The Last Jedi bait every time it comes up, folks.

Thanks, interesting stuff. I'd imagine this thing is gunna crash and burn pretty hard after the review reveal/general WOM.

I remember people in the BO threads trying to convince me that Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams would NEVER pick a bad script.

I also remember those same folks telling me that Solo would beat Rogue One's opening weekend.

Honestly after seeing the first trailer I was trying to figure out why everybody still insisted that Venom was going to do well. I mean.. is there even a chance this thing can actually do well now? Trailers have been bad to so so and reviews are tanking. I can't imagine a decent WOM.
How about we just take all the Star Wars talk,

And push it somewhere else!
Agreed

"It's the first installment of the Sony Universe of Marvel characters."

No it isn't. But I sure as hell hope it's the last.
What sucks about this is that I think we may now never see a venom adaptation in the MCU.

That's why I hoped this movie would be good

i'm popping in to say about that convo a few pages back, I tend think people get really hyperbolic i'm some of these "bad" superhero/blockbuster movies; but Fant4stic is, really bad, it's really fuckin bad man. I think it seriously is probably the worst big budget studio pics in recent years, how did that get released that way. It's straight up hatched together, absolutely about nothing, there's no conflict at all really (Doom popping up like 20 minutes from the end felt like more of an obligation like oh shit we need a villian lol) no real character development, it's just whew. It was so lifeless and boring. Thankfully, Venom here doesn't sound boring at least, this shit sounds awesome. I gotta see Tom Hardy and his alien friend fooling around in a lobster tank and eating tater tots and getting called a "pussy" by said alien friend
