**If you're going to drive by post about how toxic the Dota community/playerbase is, please move along**
This year's International broke the prize pool again with $25,532,177, the grand finals and OG's run was amazing. Anything can work, new heroes and quality of life updates are still coming, balance patches every 2 weeks (lul). There are problems with scripters occasionally and people ruining games aren't punished hard enough, but Dota 2 is in a good place right now.
Honestly can't think of any other game that has the same depth and freedom as Dota 2. Dota is truly unique in it's mechanics and gameplay. With so many developers/publishers trying to cater to the lowest common denominator and chase trends, it isn't a game that would ever be made today and can't ever be replicated. The weird interactions that can happen or "unfair" things are just a part of life in Dota. The quicker you learn to accept them, the calmer you will be.
But on to the list:
TF2 higher than Overwatch. CS:GO is 16. There are some not so popular ones in between which might warrant checking out.

Dota is stupendously silly. I mean that both in the sense that it's ostensibly about wizards trying to knock over rock-gardens that form fragments of a sentient moon, and in a mechanical sense. I could have learnt a language (or several) in the time I've spent playing Dota, but almost every match still includes unexpected moments that make me gasp and giggle.
An example: last weekend, I was in a game where an enemy's spell went travelling across the map after I teleported myself out of danger. Ten seconds later, while I recuperated in my base, the stun landed and bounced to a nearby teammate in the middle of his attempt to teleport to the front lines. We lost an important fight because of it, in a way that seems maddeningly unfair while epitomising Dota's 'anything goes' philosophy.
It's exactly the sort of thing a game designer might just as easily look at and go 'well, we'll have to stop that', and exactly the sort of thing that makes me keep playing.
