Yes.
That entire fight (and tournament) was Goku at his best. He actually had a very clever strategy all along and it was a great call-back to his earlier fight with King Piccolo.

Runner-up:

That song was so dope and the lyrics are a hilarious recap of the entire tournament.

Was going to post something but the correct answers have already been covered. Might seem a bit weird now but i remember losing my shit when Goku and Piccolo team up for the first time to fight Raditz. It's one moment that i don't think gets enough love, considering what a big deal it was back then.

I don't know if this is the most epic moment overall (I'd give that to Gohan's SSJ2 transformation, it works so well in every sub and dub version because the moment just hits all the right notes regardless of language.)

But I absolutely love when Vegeta beats up Goku Black in Super. It got 26 year old me to jump off from my couch, clap, and cheer. It felt so epic and uplifting.

Man watching Goku achieve Ultra Instinct (Kushida's lyrics...so epic) for the first time was so hype. Like was legit jumping and screaming. Only thing that might surpass it was the first Super Saiyan transformation.

I'm disgusted at the mere suggestion Super or the movies preceding it have any place amongst Dragon Ball's best moments. Dragon Ball Super is trash.

Also, it's clearly Kid Goku killing King Piccolo, Goku's Kamehameha versus Vegeta's Galick Gun, Goku turning Super Saiyan for the first time, Gohan turning SSJ2 or the arrival of SSJ3 Goku, "Mystic Gohan" or Vegito.

Any one of these is a reasonable pick.

Recency bias. People have forgotten what good DB looks like.

I know my picks are great because they're iconic, timeless moments in the franchise's history that are so deeply ingrained in the conscious that they can be used almost as a timeline in one's memory. Everybody remembers the where and when the first time they saw these moments transpire.

Super is the most cynical, hackish, unimaginative artificial extension of a franchise ever. It is deserving of every bit of cynicism I have for it and Toriyama in return.
Yeah you could just get over yourself bud.

On Topic: When Goku straight up Kemehameha Kefla in the face was freaking hype.

I've been continuously disappointed since BoTG.

I don't expect that to change any time soon.

It's a cynical, creatively bankrupt cash grab.

It. Is. Trash.

And deserving of little more than my derision and utter contempt for that hack Toriyama.

It's OK to have garbage opinions, don't worry.

On topic, pretty much every moment that uses Vegeta's SSJ theme music, that track creates hype just by itself.

Came to post this. When vegeta went super saiyan, aling with his theme and the thought of nobody else being able to defeat the androids, vegeta steps up

' Tell me, do androids experience fear ? '

As someone who's jaded on DBZ, that Ultra Instinct Kamehameha made me feel like a kid again.

There's nothing wrong with this opinion. Unless you're a Vegeta fan. Then you gotta turn your card in. The last arc does right by Vegeta in a way Toriyama never did.

That'd be my second answer. All the Vegeta stuff during the Tournament of Power is so hype.

But what about it is cynical and creatively bankrupt?

How much time you got?

The short version is that it's Dragon Ball's Greatest Hits designed to mimic and replicate with little innovation or emotional stake. Everything Toriyama has done with Super has felt like a blatantly desperate and lazy attempt to remain relevant over being creative. I don't respect it.

Yeah you could just get over yourself bud.

You could also have some standards, but no judgment.

It's OK to have garbage opinions, don't worry.

Clearly, you're very adept at sharing them.

I liked Vegeta's arc.

I am not a Vegeta fan, and Toriyama insisting on a rivalry Goku grew out of by DBZ's end is emblematic of what I hate about Super.

It's not an uncommon opinion to have or the Buu saga, but Cell? Nah.

Also, I'll draw he distinction that at worst those arcs drug on the series beyond necessary.

Super is rival and much more cynical because Toriyama tried different things and failed at every one of them and that's why he went back to Dragon Ball.

...uh...Toriyama has stated he never wanted to do another long running series for a long time.

Sand Land, Cowa, Neko Majin, and Jaco were all loved by fans and the SJ auidence. But he demanded he could end them in a single volume.

The reason he was willing to go back to Super was he saw the American movie as a huge dissapointment to DB fans and wanted to do better for them, so he stated interest in the BoG movie and spurred that to being made. I think he said in a later interview the fun he had on that lead him to wanting to help a new series.

Plus he never fully left DB. Hes given his ideas multiple times for different products, but always as a backseat producer people can ask feedback on.

I don't know where narrative he fell back onto DB comes from.

Goku, battered and injured, propelling himself with a Kamehameha, punching right through Demon King Piccolo and finally ending his reign of terror.

Everything about Gohan in Cell would be golden for me.
From the story of Trunks mini story to the end part with Gohan destroying Cell.

The DB Super manga is pretty everything I despise about Dragon Ball, over-reliance on a very limited cast to the point of most of the cast being entirely pointless, untelegraphed asspull after untelegraphed asspull, uninteresting world building and boring villains.
On top of that it's also a very boring manga to read with recycled art and boring panneling.
And it seems like the anime is really much better so I'm not gonna shit on that but I can't say I understand anyone putting a part of Super in that thread but again I really despise manga Super so...
Also 1 thing I can't deal with the animation of super is how it feels like fights are not really well integrated in the background and the spatial movement seems wrong to me for some reason. I can't pinpoint why it feels that way to me but it just does.

In my youth, Gohan finally destroying Cell caused me to stand up in front of the TV in awe.
This Jiren segment fully recaptured that feeling for me. That doesn't really happen anymore. My girlfriend said my excitement was so infectious, she even cheered - and she's never really watched any Dragon Ball.

I watched all of Super with my brother, caught up with the broadcast 3 or 4 episodes before the end, and that last episode had us standing up and hollering. It's perfect. I'm 33 and he's 29 haha.

I've been rewatching some videos of DBZ thanks to this thread, and it's incredible how high the high points of DBZ were.
This fight for example is incredible on all points :

Incredible animation, fight choregraphy has 1 good idea every 5 seconds, impact is felt, you just hold your breath for 2/3 minutes. It still is quirky with some light funny moments, some strange attacks, some more serious ones.
Really impressive.

The Frieze arc escalating, especially from Krillin's death onwards. Goku turning SSJ, the entire battle sequence, the planet rapidly getting destroyed, Goku initially sparing Frieza who then is a dick for the final time, the planet exploding as Goku tries to desperately save himself... I don't think anything was that epic before or after that sequence to be honest, especially considering death seemed to still have some sort of consequence (despite the Dragon Balls' power), and certain decisions and situations seemed rather final. Of course, that wasn't the case later, but if you didn't know where Dragon Ball Z was headed after that and was deeply invested in the story and lore, what happened on Namek has been absolutely epic and devastating.

I don't like Super but the last half is definitely better than the Buu Saga.

The Buu arc is great. It was a bit out there for sure but that'as what makes DB great. It was filled with new concepts and ideas and they all generally worked. I don't think anything in Super touches any arc from DB/DBZ. Mostly because it's content with rehasing old ideas and executing them in a much worse way. Top was just a terrible slog to sit through, with only a few highlights. Not really worth sitting down and watching ever again.
