Follow-up on my question about firewall the other day (week?): is it worth getting the bundle with the Aim controller, or are there farpoint bundles going decently cheap so that I could just buy firewall separately? I think I wanna get into this but it's a bit of an investment so I'd like to be smart about it

Been playing some Racket Fury: Table Tennis VR for PSVR this week. It's pretty fun and the game tracks your movements well.

Thought I would ask in here, I'm pretty excited for Astro Bot and will be the first time I played with my headset since RE:7, main reason being is cable management. Too many cables to deal with and HDMI ports to unplug. That said, if anyone has the newer, updated version of PSVR, how is it? I know it has HDR pass-through and ergonomic fixes alongside built-in earphones, but is the cable management less of a hassle? Is it worth selling my current one and partially funding the updated version?

It's on my radar so this is good to hear! I always have a craving for ping pong but nobody to play with/no room for a table so this will have to do lol.
Yeah, it feels pretty close to real ping pong. Whenever I tried to slam it hard or serve with extra oomph I'd hit it off the table. Gentle taps and such work best. Took a bit to adjust to, but it works well and the computer AI is pretty challenging even early on. Captured some gameplay of it:

Regarding Moss Book 2 from their AMA:

While we don't currently intend to move away from platforming (it is an important pillar of the game), we DO want to offer more opportunities to explore. Moss was, admittedly, quite linear -- so we're excited to experiment with non-linearity and what that might mean for Quill and the future of Moss.

Good to hear that. I would love an open world Quill game but hopefully giving us more ability to explore will be good. Hell, maybe really dig into the Metroidvania style of game that would be a natural fit for it.

What a great end of year. Firewall, Astrobot and Tetris Effect are probably must buys. Creed and Rocket Fury seem interesting - and good to be played in a colder weather. And some nice games from earlier the year will be getting discounts... and I already have quite a backlog.

Not even including Dreams VR beta that is still scheduled for later this year.

But hey, every week there is a "VR isn't ready yet" thread lol

Awesome this looks great. Definitely going to grab it this weekend.

Life is good in PSVR land right now.

Stay away from Smash Hit Plunder. It's the most boring game I've played this year. All you do is throw stuff around.

New DLC dropped for Knockout League. It only costs a couple of bucks. I am going to pick it up and give it a try tomorrow.

Just thought I'd post this for those interested in how much difference a PS4 Pro makes - in the video below the left is a standard PS4 playing GT sport and the right is a PS4 Pro on the same track in VR - the Pro has a lot more trackside detail despite being in VR.

http://www.youtubemultiplier.com/5bb5ccfab58d9-2d-og-ps4-vs-vr-ps4-pro.php

Edit: Actually this might be just a settings mix up, the standard time trial mode *might* not have the advertising hoardings, people camping etc that a race weekend would have - looks like they forgot to change that setting for the VR time trial mode and it's using the race version of the track.

Very surprised no one has talked about Horus station, me and friend just completed act 1 in co-op. A fantastic game, Atmospheric, Audio is so good. Floating also feels so natural and fun to do, Something surreal when you see your co-op buddy floating next to you while your both passing virtual objects to each other.

A must have for those who enjoy sci-fi, Co-op and campaigns. Also has MP for those who want it.

And is only £11, We feel bad not paying more, And that's only the first act we did, Lasted about 1:20 mins.

Defo scratched that missing Farpoint itch sci fi adventure. Recommend it bigtime, Especially those who love VR co-op

Checking back in after mentioning above I'd grab Racket Fury this weekend, well I got it now instead and that feels so friggin good to play, I'm very impressed. That's as good as it's going to get for me being able to play ping pong in my house, and the physics (IMO) are pretty dang well done.

I didn't know it had released! When you say vr coop, you mean with two headsets?

Yeah it's full co-op campaign, It's also playable flat incase both of you don't have the VR. Recommended tho as no way is it the same experience. Really worth checking out.

The issue is it's not visible on the PSVR store, The game is buried in the new games released so unless you search for it, theres a good chance you'd miss it.

The first act alone is worth £11 let alone the whole game. Something fantastic about you and a buddy in zero G floating around on a space station.

What kind of game is Horus Station? When I saw the trailers, I liked the setting and the art design, but then it looked like it was just a shooter and I stopped paying attention.

It's a space station abandoned, So it involves exploration, Combat, Puzzles. The story unfolds as you go, No hand holding, Just pure isolation and figuring it out. It's really good to float about, So different. You can also play it without combat if that isnt your thing.

Thanks! I hadn't picked that up from coverage - I'll add that to my wish list.

Is there any difference between the PS Move controller they sold in the PS3 era and the one they sell now? I'm pretty sure the PS3 one works for VR, but is the one they sell now better? Considering the PSVR move and I do have a move controller in a drawer somewhere. I think I even have a gun peripheral from Socom 4 that I'd be able to use with Farpoint, I think?

Old ones require USB mini to charge, new ones are micro. New ones have better battery life I hear.

So I just got the astrobot bundle but I haven't played the game yet. I've been trying out the be demo disc and this shit is legit. Graphics may not be the best but the sense of presence is unparalleled. It makes regular 2d experiences seem like a joke in comparison. I was just trying the moss demo from the demo disc to decide if I should keep the game or, sell it to reduce the cost of my purchase. The demo was amazing. 100% keeping it. I'm just trying to take it slow at the moment and I try to keep the sessions under 30 minutes. I can see why some people get motion sickness but in games like moss, I don't think it should be an issue. Like, it's kinda like you're sitting at a table so it's pretty cool.

Welcome aboard :-) Like you say, Moss will not give you any issues as its flip screen / no scrolling. Astro Boy has very gentle scrolling so won't be a problem for most people. Driveclub VR is the litmus test for a lot of people but it really is hard to say for certain whether a game is going to affect you or not and tolerance varies massively between people.

I'm considering pre-ordering Evasion, due out on Tuesday. It's discounted for plus members, £26 on the UK store.

It's an Aim compatible FPS bullet hell game, campaign and survival modes, solo or 2 player co-op.

I'll check for reviews on Monday, but so far impressions seem positive.

Hopefully we some reviews tomorrow.

Download the demo for WipEout VR. It's got a super clean image, I haven't seen anyone mention they get motion sick from it, and it's an actual full game if you like it. Plus usually very cheap. Such a good deal.

Still enjoying Horus Station in co-op, But hoping Evasion can fill the gap that Farpoint left. Looks like it can, But will depend on how it all feels and how engaging the gameplay is. Good times for PSVR in all truth lately!

I've noticed that there are a lot of region exclusive PSVR games. Are there any highlights that are only available in the Japanese and Hong Kong stores?

Beat Astro Bot and then played Skyrim for a while.

I'm one of those weird people who likes to stand for nearly all games and wow, I played for so long that my legs actually hurt to move. Had fun tho.

Overall I played so much VR today.

I never want to go to the Soul Cain again in Skyrim. Fuck that place.

Wipeout is actually the only PSVR game that has induced motion sickness for me of the ones I've played so far. It's not severe, but I have to keep my sessions to an hour or less.

Totally worth it.
