FIFA sales are spread on numerous different editions. Normal, champions edition, deluxe etc. Forza have currently only Deluxe edition.

I don't really believe Forza is going to sell more than FIFA. Fifa sells like crazy, but FIFA 18 sales over 70% were PS4, but I still don't believe it. Atleast not in UK
Oh yeah thats true. Missed those special editions. They were quite low so i didnt see them.

Tomorrow we can say that X0 is next month guys! My top 3 wants are

1. Playful acquisition
2. JD playable in Gears 5 story with some segments focusing on his character
3. Something new with either Killer Instinct, Blue Dragon (4k BC update?), or Conker

If Del and Kait will have the skiff, it would make Sense if they give a Horse-like to JD, that would be mindblowing
JD is like 10 times more interesting now than he was un Gears 4.

also cause JD will def be the villian by gears 6.

Gears should be there imo and it would make sense because Gears is huge in Mexico.

I think we might get a gears 5 multiplayer beta and feedback thing announcement.

I could see a feb or march 1~ month beta. then the game launches either holiday 2019 or spring 2020

Lol, its funny how I thought Kait was the only interesting character in Gears 4 (JD and Del couldn´t be anymore generic), but then they give us a JD that actually looks like a new age Marcus and he doesnt even go with Kait on her journey? Like he my not even be playable?

We cant have that, please give us playable JD and maybe some new gameplay mechanics with his arm

Gears Pro Circuit in Mexico City takes place sometime in the Fall/Winter if I remember correctly so maybe we might get some multiplayer news or a trailer.

A Scarlet Minecraft 2 exclusive would do wonders for Microsoft's market share.

I feel like that's exactly the wrong way to look at it. You'll never reach 90+ million players if you stay exclusive to a high end gaming platform, no matter how great your game is. Minecraft is this successful cause it's a great game that's available on everything. If the industry wants to grow, the answer isn't to bank on exclusives. It's a bad saddening to see how hot people are for exclusives in general - Why is it great that some people miss out on great games cause they can't afford to buy platform X?

I see Playful being mentioned often as an acquisition but I differ on this. I would like to see MS buy studios with Caliber, immense potential and Playful don't fit that in my opinion. They put out decent games but nothing that stood out like Moon's Ori. I see IO Interactive being a better fit TBH.

Killer Instinct is a big one, I think they will go for E3 2019 or 2020 if its a launch title.

Its a definite lock I think. I trust Coalition with the SP, what they have shown so far is promising.

Gears 5 MP on the other hand needs a big overhaul/rethink, Horde 3.0 started to show its age. Not that Gears 4 MP is bad, its very good but felt like an evolution and very good isn't enough anymore, it needs to be great and bring new fans to the franchise.

I'm 21 (1997), from Poland but I live in the UK (London) for 4 years
7j9eScA.png

lggR26R.gif

37, UK. Owned the OG Xbox, Xbox 360, but didn't get a XBO this generation until X launched.

I'm another one of those US fans. I'm a 25 y/o living in Ohio (come here for allergies), and have been with Xbox since 2002 when I got it the original by a Christmas present. I played A LOT of Morrowind and Knights of the Old Republic. I've own every console, and have since the Xbox. The only console that wasn't mine was the PS2, Gamecube and Wii, as those were my brothers, though the original PS3 and 360 were his too, but I bought the PS3 Slim and Xbox 360 Elite. I get every system so I'm not locked out of exclusives.

However, while I do own every console, and including an incredibly nice PC, I prefer to play on the Xbox One because of the ecosystem and controller (plus I grew up with Xbox the most primarily because of BGS games, Halo, and FFXI). Achievements and my addiction (of sorts) to them helps a lot. I use my PC primarily for modding BGS games and maxing out games that have FPS issues on consoles.

Even though I have a PC, I'll still get a Scarlett so my library carries forward. Only if Microsoft gives the PC the ability to play anything, including BW/C titles will I keep exclusively with my PC.

33 here, from UK. Like a lot of the folks here have been playing on Xbox since the OG Xbox.

Yeh man! Very, very similar gaming background to my own. I sunk many hours into KOTOR and Morrowind on the original box, as well as the other major platforms.

Male, 40, American Italian, U.S.

Have owned the original Xbox (at least twice), Xbox 360 (several times) and currently own Xbox One X. Have purchased Xbox One twice, the Slim twice and X once which is what I currently own and will be "owned" as in past tense once the next gen console comes out as I stopped collecting consoles and games over a decade ago and once I move on from the previous gen consoles, those consoles simply aren't coming back.

32/M from Boise, Idaho USA

Was too poor to be much of a gamer growing up. Mostly stuck to Mario/Sonic/licensed games on rented consoles and short gaming sessions on friends consoles. Rediscovered gaming with 360 and have stuck with Xbox as my main console ever since.

20 yr old Belgian guy. I know several people who do have a Xbox console but like the huge majority of them have a PS console which isn't a complete surprise since Belgium has always been Playstationland for quite some gens.

Male, 50 years young, Hamburg, Germany.

30, Michigan. Started as a Sega guy before moving to OG Xbox because power and graphics has always kept my attention. These days characters and lore are most important so hopefully alot more of that happens on the MS side of things.

American, 20 YO. Grew up with the Nintendo 64 and a Gameboy Advance before getting the OG Xbox.

26, male, Australia.

Xbox is still pretty popular here. MS is also doing well with marketing here, saw ads for Forza Horizon 4 during the AFL Grand Final, possibly the biggest sporting event of the year in the country.

I am 30 yr old male, from australia

24, Male from Arizona. I love Xbox, and their vision. While I've felt stronger connections with some PS franchises, I want to see Phil and crew succeed at making Xbox a creative powerhouse that offers formidable hardware and software. I currently don't own an Xbox right now, but look forward to jumping back into the ecosystem as soon as possible.

Gamepass is one of my largest draws as someone on a restricted budget for gaming.

Glad you found some clarification as to what I meant earlier. It really is a bit confusing depending on where you get your information from for XO18. I'm sure they'll put something out between now and the event to clear things up though.

I'm Brazilian, but I live in germany since 2006 now.

Male, 34 years old from Spain ( yep, this is called Sonyland so I'm one of those " special" people). Owned the Original Xbox, 3 Xbox 360 ( two of them died from RROD), one Xbox One and, now, a Xbox One X. Certainly I was about to jump ship to Playstation after the disaster of the presentation of the XO, but looking at exclusive things like Titanfall or Dead Rising 3 ( and enjoying that Final Fantasy XV and Kingdom Hearts 3 were also appearing) I decided to stay.

Male, 31 from Barcelona (Spain) but living in Marseille (France) since 4 years ago.
On console I've been a mainly Sega gamer (MSII and MD) then PS (1 and 2) and then Xbox (360, OG One then X) + Nintendo (Wii, Wii U and Switch), but as a Strategy/Management lover PC has always had a place in my heart too
I think so too, and that's how they'll "justify" paying for Gold once MP becomes free, wich I'm sure it will.
Because as of now, Xbox is the only platform where you need to pay to play Fortnite, and I don't think that's a situation they want to be in as now with CP enabled by Sony they risk people turning to them and attacking them for this.
But if you allow free MP for Fortnite, how you justify making the rest of people pay? Not only for the rest of F2P games but specially, how you justify to someone who bought a 60+ game that they must pay but someone who paid 0 no?

This is fun! I'm a 23 year old male from the Basque country, Spain. Around 2007 my dad got me an Xbox 360 with Halo 3 because he probably read somewhere that it was the next big thing. At first it was a very different thing than what I was used to (PS2 and Nintendo handheld mostly), and I didn't exactly fall in love with it. Sometime later he decided to also get a used copy of Gears of War and that's the first time I felt like I was playing an "adult" videogame. It looked different from anything I'd ever seen, and the action was brutal. After being horrified by the first hour, it was ON. I could rant on and on about that phase of my life but let's leave it there for now.
Anyway fast forward to 2013. I was messing with PC gaming and some late PS3 exclusives a bit back then but my interest in consoles winded down. I missed E3 2013 and I almost didn't watch 2014. However by 2015 I heard that there would be Gears news at E3 and I kind of hyped myself for it. So I tuned in and when the BC news rolled in, I had decided which console I wanted to buy. But when Gears UE and 4 closed I decided I wanted to buy it soon.

39, from Germany, own an Xbox One and an Xbox One S, will buy an Xbox One X next year when I get a 4k TV, imported a Zune HD from the US in 2009 and a Band 2 from the UK in 2016 (because the latter two weren't offered in Germany).

I'm 26 (27 late next month), male, Portuguese(sonyland). I know a few people with xbox's over here, during 360 days it even had a solid fan base, these days it's really small, ms doesn't even try tbf, no advertising at all.

Pretty much a Sega guy, got the 360 to play sonic 06 as it came out sooner over here, and the 360 was cheaper. Stayed for the great JP games hitting the system, like Lost Odyssey and the likes, also became a big gears of war fan around gears 2 release. Been a suffering gen with so many great jp games skipping xbox, to the point of being forced to buy all systems.. but it's looking slightly better theses days, will see how it goes.

38, male, Croatia. Xbox owners are a rarity in these parts, while PC is probably the most popular platform, followed by PlayStation.

I started playing games on various consoles and computers, and loved spending my time in the arcades (SEGA ♡). Being a PC gamer at the time, I became interested in Xbox 360 and Microsoft's vision for gaming in 2006, although I only got the console in 2012. Since then I bought all the Xbox consoles, two PlayStations, and I'm getting a 3DS soon, but I feel most at home on Xbox.

Agreed, it's not up there with the genre's greats, but it's a fun, competent platformer. Playful are already a talented team, and they could grow into something special.

I have to say it crossed my mind, and I'd be so happy if it happened, but I don't want to get my hopes up just yet. I don't think that it would necessarily be developed by Armature, though. Asobo might also be a potential candidate, since they helped with the first game.

I'm from Galicia, Spain, 30 yo, although I live in BC, Canada at the moment since my wife is Canadian (I speak English, she doesn't speak Spanish, we'll probably move back to Spain eventually). Anyways, I got into Xbox after the love of my life (aside from my wife) passed away (SEGA, that is). After Dreamcast, I got a Gamecube. It was fine, but I wanted something else. Next gen I went with 360 and fell in love with its games, to the point I recently wrote a 10.000 words article about Halo's mechanics because that's what I do, I write about games for a printed magazine. I also have a more adult job, sociologist, but it's much more boring lol.

39 yo, from London, England, but now living in Madrid, Spain. Always get Xbox as my main console each gen, then pick up the others once they reach a decent price and have a good selection of exclusives available.

Thanks for sharing guys! This is fun indeed! So yeah, as expected majority of people are from the usa but there are quite a lot of people from europe, it really seems like quite the international crowd, also most people seem to be from 20 to 30 years old, so my age group.

Interesting take and while I agree with you on this one franchise (MC) I think Xbox needs to have a constant inflow of strong new IPs outside the ones we already have and i believe this is one of the reasons they are picking up new studios. Back during the 360 era we had so many amazing titles from the get go most of them exclusive to the the system from both 1st and 3rd party i.e mass effect, lost odyssey, gears, kameo , alan wake, dead rising, lost planet, condemned, rockstars table tennis..etc. With all the moves they have been making I believe they are trying to get back there.

Ps - going by your comment above.. I'm guessing your brand new project after Ori2 is multiplatform?

I agree with all of that. However, it's also worth remembering that MS seems intent to make their games available on a wide variety of devices via streaming, if not natively. "Xbox exclusive" means one thing now (and even now it includes PC), but it may mean something entirely different in the future.

33 from Massachusetts. Grew up a Sega kid, then N64, then Xbox ever since (I own and have owned anPS4 and PS3 for exclusives but I'm basically balls deep in xbox's Ecosystem). In college EVERYONE had a 360, rarely would you see a PS3. I think that had a lot to do with Halo/Gears and Xbox Live and the more social nature of multiplayer titles.

Most of my friends no longer play games (or play nearly as much) due to family and having kids, but the ones that do mostly play on the PS4. Seemed to be due almost exclusively due to the poor marketing and messaging behind the XB1 launch. That and the $100 price difference dug a hole that MS never had a chance to climb out of.

I'm very confident MS won't make that mistake again and will either 1) launch the new Xbox 6-12 months before PS5, or 2) launch in the same window (PS4 and XB1 were a week apart I think) at a cheaper or similar price- but with a HEAVY emphasis on GamePass/BC to really showcase the value and qty of games one would get for $10/month at launch. The stream box rumors could also be true, and they launch a new Xbox SKU at a $99-$199 which would also allow for a huge advantage at a new gen console launch.

Also- this thread is by far the best place to talk Xbox on the inter webs. I've been lurking since the first OT and want to thank you guys for the insightful discussions, HOT STOVE RUMORS (thanks, Klobrille), and for keeping my excitement in the Xbox brand even during a couple of relatively slow years.

locust virus has infected jd's arm and is slowly overwriting JD. his arm sheild is meant to slow/stop the infection. once that is off, JD is gone and he'll be a new Raam esqe figure

Nah, Kait has more potential to be an interesting villain. JD turning into some ¨super locus¨ would seem like bad fanfiction lol. I hope it happens to neither of them and a new villain presents itself

Xbox exclusive means Xbox Live. Much like Apple has multiple devices that can access iTunes, Xbox Live is Microsoft's platform and can be accessed by multiple devices.

When Phil Spencer took over as head of the Xbox team, he said he wanted games to be to Microsoft what music is to Apple.

Well... I'm specting both of them to become villains, in some point Kait will realize that the Swarm transformation Is necesary to survive in Sera (remember her first dialogue in Gears 4? The thing about the butterfly), JD will turn in some form of locust and Marcus will have to kill him, then Marcus will take the lead for a last journey in Gears 6, and will have to kill Kait and find a way to scape from Sera.
Del and Fauz Chutani would be dead at the end of the two games, well, maybe Fauz will survive.

Then the Infinity will find Marcus's ship and we will see the most badass handshake in history of videogames between the Masterchief and Marcus Fénix...
the last part is a joke

Exclusives sell consoles, and if a console is successful more games start to arrive to the platform, it's as simple as that. A Minecraft 2 as a console exclusive could help to sell consoles.

I think the deal with JD's arm is just severe burns.

If JD does somehow turn, I'd like to play as Marcus in the 3rd game. On a mission to bring his son in.

Wild Gears speculation time:

The Swarm will fail to get Kait as their new queen in 5, and instead will capture/turn Jinn. Final shot will be queen Jinn with an army of swarm and swarm slugged Deebees

Most of these studios MS is buying are not going to be working on huge games except for Playground. Playful would actually be an amazing gain since MS is severely lacking in a family friendly studio. Rare doesn´t seem to fit that bill anymore if Sea of Thieves is any indication, their next project will probably continue the online path.

So I'm curious what kind of demographics xbox fans ITT are, myself I'm a guy, 23, from Brazil, I know there are quite a few people from Brazil here but if I had to guess the majority would be from Usa, followed by the Uk, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Brazil (not surprisingly places xbox is popular), I know there are some people from Europe too, maybe not too many people from Asia, if you guys reading this don't mind telling us this stuff it would be nice.

30 years, from Spain. I started playing arcade games, then Gameboy, PS2 and being sticked to Microsoft since Xbox 360 :)

While I think all 3rd party games should be multi on everything when possible, I'm completely in favor of exclusives on 1st party stuff(made or not made by 1st party teams), they should be the system sellers, what makes the console worth getting.

29 and from Ireland. Started out gaming with the NES, then switched to the Megadrive, then back to the N64 and then over to the Dreamcast. Was always a bigger Sonic fan though. I wasn't a huge gamer until i picked up the Xbox at launch with Halo (which blew my mind), and I've stuck with Xbox ever since.

I think the reason we're hearing mixed messages is the current generation of Xbox is going to serve as "cloud devices" for next gen. You'll be able to play next gen games on the current gen consoles, but it will have to be through Xbox's new streaming client and you won't be playing them natively or offline.

I don't think there's really any mixed messages. Just mixed rumors.

Microsoft's consoles will all be backward/forward compatible from now on. That does not guarantee all games going forward will run on current gen. Many next gen games that can be scaled down will.

I think Jezz's comments were taken out of context. I don't think he ever specifically said Halo wouldn't run on current gen. He believes Fable will run on both. He's just saying there will be true next gen games with a cut-off. Microsoft is leaving this up to developers and publishers. I'd be shocked if Halo Infinite isn't playable on current gen. The studio and investment for that game is massive and they need to cast the widest net possible. I think Infinite will test low ends of scalability on PC.

As great as it would be (to a degree) if every exclusive could be on every platform, it's just an unfortunate (to a degree fortunate, as it drives higher quality games) side of business. Microsoft putting all of their games on all platforms would be the death of their gaming business (they really couldn't do that anyways), especially when Sony and Nintendo would never do that. Microsoft has been criticized for not having any exclusives just because the games are also on PC (people fail to realize that a lot just want a convenient console) and people tell others to just get a PS4 and PC. A LOT less people would get an Xbox One if the games were on other consoles.

As I said, it's just an unfortunate side of business, and it will never change. Microsoft being what you might call pro-consumer, and allowing their games on other platforms will not change what the other platform holders are doing and just hasten their destruction in gaming. Only if you decide to enter in as a software only business will this work. Xbox Live simply won't be on the other systems so Microsoft still needs hardware no matter how big and diverse their ecosystem is. If you have a hardware system (s), you invest in it, not other hardware. Mobile goes beyond consoles and does more with the cloud, so it's not the same. These devices will still allow for Xbox Live unlike Sony or Nintendo consoles (though Nintendo might to a degree) so it still works for Microsoft.

What's the point in the streaming console if the current gen can do the same thing? By the time the streaming console is out, the Xbox One will be cheap enough that a streaming only console isn't worth it. Doesn't the streaming console have dedicated hardware specifically for streaming though that's supposed to help with latency?

The studio and investment for that game is massive and they need to cast the widest net possible. I think Infinite will test low ends of scalability on PC.
He was reiterating saying it has less to do with hardware, but more with the OS, and how Microsoft would want to move beyond that piece of hardware. I just hope Microsoft doesn't push their developers to always scale down (to this gen), because if there's a game that is heavy on AI, Physics or any other CPU-centric process, it would cripple it. Crackdown 3, for example, could have that destruction that we want with a better CPU. If there's a game that is heavy on destruction too, but can only be Scarlett and beyond, I hope Microsoft would allow it to be like that.

GPU processes are easy to scale, but that's not the case with CPU processes. And there are a lot more CPU processes than people think. I only listed a few.

How do u know ? Do u get data from Singapore, Malaysia and Australia nd all. In Singapore doing quite good

It has crossed 40m. It 40 around April according IHS Markit, pretty sure it's more now.

Compared to PS4 it's obviously low but on its own numbers not bad at all considering all XboxOne games are released on PC as well, giving no reason for people to buy XboxOne.

If tomm PS4 games are on PC day nd date, you will see sharp decline on PS4 sales as majority of people will play exclusive on PC.
No, I don't get data from those countries. That doesn't mean I can infer from everything the past few years that Xbox One is not selling much outside select regions.

Your original post only mentioned one retailer, and absolutely no reference point for what is "healthy". Healthy can mean that it sells well enough to not worry about stock just sitting there but that doesn't mean it sells in high numbers.

That IHS report is a little out there compared to what estimates were at the end of 2017, which was ~35M. Hitting 39M in one quarter is simply impossible and is probably an extreme outlier, especially in the context of XB1 sales being up only 15% during the same-ish period from last year.

There also isn't any indication that XB1 sales are falling because of games now being on Win10.

Outside of major territories XB1 is not selling much. If it were sales would be much better, and the US would no longer be hovering around ~60% of total WW sales. It is the only console where that is the case, with PS4 US sales being ~30% and Switch around the same. Like, US sales just being 50% would be great for Xbox, it would be ~44M right now and Microsoft would probably be more willing to talk sales, but neither of those are the case.

I'm sorry that my English is not very good. This paragraph is also translated with translation software.

Born and living in China, where mobile games and PC games dominate, PS4 and Switch users are plentiful, compared to a small number of Xbox players. However, after the release of the Xbox One X, the number of Xbox players in China has increased significantly.

The reason for xbox's poor development in China is that many games don't have Chinese language support, and even first-party games like SOD2 don't have Chinese language.

Developers do not know China's policy, Chinese players will switch to Hong Kong to buy games, of course, China's IP can switch to any country to buy games without the need to use a VPN.

In several BBS's in China, the FH4 seems to have tens of thousands of players, and many people have bought the Xbox One X.
In China, where Japanese games are so popular, SONY adopted a Chinese language monopoly and lockdown policy in greater China to prevent the development of the Xbox in China, such as Monster Hunters and Warriors Orochi 3.

Chinese Xbox players are eager to get their Xbox One titles in Chinese, including Japanese games. This is good for the development of Chinese Xbox, but it looks like Microsoft has given up on Asia due to SONY's strength and the rise of nintendo Switch. There is no Fanfest on the Xbox in ChinaJoy(Shanghai) this year, Which Aaron Greenberg arrived in Shanghai last year.

Thanks for the insight into the China situation, I believe part of the problem was the lack of budget xbox team had in the latest years, they had to cut corners and most countries ended up suffering from that (mine included), Sony saw the opportunity to turn it into a monopoly for cheap, as xbox install base was small enough to have the publishers skip it for cheap.

Here's hoping they try and invest more into the Asia territory with the next xbox from the get go, they need to go all out. Important to note, winning over more jp games means be more competitive in the west as well.

42 from US. Michigan. Manage a technology team.

This is cool. Worthy of its own thread to talk about console history that led you here. Sorry to hear about your loss.

My console history with primary consoles from each gen in bold.

Atari 5200, Atari 7800 - Dad picked up an Atari 5200 that came with Pac-Man from a Kmart Blue Light special. Im oldest of 4 kids and my parents were poor at this time so it was a miracle that we became gamers.

NES, Sega Master System

Arcades - NBA Jam shit talking and Street Fighter arcade machines ruled the day for awhile.

Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Sega CD, Sega 32x

PlayStation, PC Master Race, N64 - PlayStation was primary console but PC took over halfway through the gen.

OG Xbox, Game Cube, PC Master Race - I didn't see myself coming back to consoles after my PC experience which is why I skipped the PS2. Then Halo and Xbox happened. Then Xbox Live. GC was bought purely for Metroid because I'm a Metroid whore. I upgraded my PC again for Half Life 2 but my stay on PC was short this time.

Xbox 360, Wii - I barely played the Wii as it was for my kids. Halfway through the gen I took a break from gaming as I had personal struggles, was impacted by mortgage and banking crashes and went through a divorce. Thanks to backwards compatibility, I've been getting caught up on the best of last gen.

Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X, PlayStation Pro, Switch - Halo, backwards compatibility and the Elite controller are the biggest reasons Xbox stayed my primary console despite an uneven gen from the brand. The Pro is my first PlayStation since the original so lots of Remastered PlayStation games from previous gens to get caught up on. I generally only play Switch on business trips.
