Almost every cutscene in the David Cage games I've seen makes me feel like dying, but shout outs to Heavy Rain's sex scenes. Ugh.

Alright, which one of you hentai lovin' horny bastards submitted the design for Dahlia?

Seriously, it amazes me that her 3D model got through so many stages - from conception to animated model and then into a game that is not a explicit dating sim or straight up 3D porn game, without any concept of restraint.

The Quiet one for sure. I actually thought she was the best character in the game but you wouldn't know it thanks to that cutscene.

Quiet scene for me is the worst thing I've seen in a game I've played.
lmao I couldn't help but burst out laughing at that character design. How the fuck did Nintendo approve that?

That game is proof that you can make the cringiest most poorly animated shit ever and people will still fall over themselves for it because it has underage-looking girls with huge tits acting all kawaii

Jesus, an unironic use of "make yourself a sandwhich" and a hot springs scene?! Whoever wrote this should be fired... out of a canon.

It's kind of a shame because I really like the demo I played, but holy moly is it wrapped up in a lot of generic anime tropes. A shame but oh well.

It's no FFXV but I don't think it's bad either. I much rather prefer a game with cut scenes like this than a game that takes ages to come out only because of the need to include high quality graphics.

With the amount of staff, money and time available I think the people behind X2 did a fantastic job.

Guys, you can cringe as much as you want at that scene of the bed in XC2, but to say it is the CRIGIEST scene you ever saw in a video game?

You can find it distasteful, unfunny, cliche, cringe... But it's a exaggeration to say it's the cringiest scene you ever seen. Or this isn't he first game you ever played.

Dude it's bad. Watching that one video inspired me to check out other videos of gameplay and.....fuck me. I don't understand how anyone doesn't die of embarrassment when playing. Even alone. It's just so bad.

Exactly. Apparently budget makes them put the designs on those characters with giant anime titties. Also, clearly it's the budget that makes them create that terrible bed cutscene or other badly acted/directed and generally poorly thought out designs, dialogues, etc...

The answer is no, folks at Monolyth clearly thought that taking a good game like Xenoblade 1 and pumping up "@the anime" to 11 with giant tits and cringing conversations will sell better. Apparently they were not wrong.

Having finished the SE version recently, I can only say OP is on point. Dante's portion of DMC4 is really bad, be it the repeating levels and bosses or the filler cutscenes.

My nomination would be the sex scene in Heavy Rain. Funny enough, even if I think Heavy Rain is a better game overall than Beyond Two Souls, Beyond has a much less cringy depiction of a sexual encounter.

This thread basicaly became "lol, japan". Ok, guys, people in another culture think different of you, big surprise. I'm sure that make fun of that will surely make them really welcome in bringing their games for this side. And people wonder why so many localizations efforts choose to simple cut content.

Lol, now this a good one. Specially around the 32:20 mark.
Almost like Japan has a widely problematic issue with how women are portrayed on media.

Skulface's monologue while you're just staring was already pretty awkward but this part...

Also, a lot of poorly animated bioware cutscenes would qualify, but this fight scene actually made me laugh for minutes:

Why does the supposed exotic and elegant woman have a Southern accent?

Why does the entire cast of 7-8 people stop for an extended period to listen to a child fawn over some lady? Feels like the kind of thing that might have played well in a text-only SNES RPG, but is awkward as hell in a fully-voiced cinematic game.

Why does the kid repeat the same line of dialogue twice at two separate times in the same conversation? "You talk really good.....not like that guy you're standing next to!" Why did they feel the need to pad out the length of the scene with such repetition?

The only thing here that made me laugh out loud is when the kid says "Goodbye", and then promptly tears through the square at cheetah-like speed. (S)he was so happy to meet this woman, but absurdly rips out of the scene like she's trying to win the 50M dash at the Olympics.

Jeeze. Don't make a judgement on Japanese media based on Japanese games esp. anime games. Anime culture, specifically late night anime culture is regarded as a pest of the society in Japan. Japanese fans themselves are very much self-aware that they are quarantined from the main stream media.

Why is everybody so uptight about sex here?

I wish there was this much concern about all of the gore and violence in video games.

Pick any scene from any Kingdom Hearts and pretend it has any emotional resonance whatsoever. One in particular with a Boulder is especially laughable.

Also, those absurd Noppon jokes from Xenoblade X about cooking Tatsu. Or any Noppon moment from any Xenoblade.

There are definitely more I'm forgetting.

I mean, it's brought up every time someone uses this whataboutism, but in real life everyone knows murder is bad, so video games depictingmurder doesn't really contribute too much to a negative culture. Whereas it's extremely clear that people in real life don't understand how bad sexism/objectification is, and video games depicting it actually normalizes it further.

Additionally, in games it's generally understood that murder is bad and the people you're killing need to be killed for some sort of reason along the lines of "they're the enemy", whereas the extreme objectification found in certain Japanese games is usually played for laughs or glorified.

You are still ignoring the extreme amounts of violence in video games and the fact human beings are sexual creatures by design.

Objectification? I have never once played a video game and thought to myself, "Wow,that game taught me it's ok to objectify woman"

These are ideas we get from society as a whole, and from our families and communities and other forms of media as well. Video games are far from the greastest form of media that contributes to sexual objectification. Especially when Hollywood and advertising does it so much better.

Runner up:

SHE DIES FOR 10 FUCKING MINUTES. It doesn't stop. She even stands up inbetween dying.

Urgh, I don't regret getting rid of Eternal Sonata. I was staring at the screen in disbelief when this cutscene happened. You only have her as an active party member for, like, an hour before she bites it too. There's no emotional investment at all.

Nearly every MGS4 cutscene that devolves into melodramatic nonsense (which is about half of them) is unbearable.

I'd love to hear about the ad or movie that taught you "wow, it's ok to objectify women."

I think these are the worst character designs I've ever seen in a major release. Everything about them is awful; culminating in the ridiculous oversized titties.
I think the chick to the right in the hat looks okay, although I'm not sure what all the metal crap around her waist it supposed to be for.

Everyone else looks like run of the mill JRPG garbage though, yeah.
