ERA excuse this rant but I have a question to ask.

Anyone here ever takeout the 5W adapter from the box or does that thing just stay in the box forever.

Why can't a $1100-$1499 phone include a decent fucking charger?

I just saw I have like over 10 of these 5W chargers.

Bullshit

Me, I have multi-port hubs and whatnot that deliver more than 5 watts, so my iPhone and iPad wall warts sit in their boxes.

This is literally just cheaping out by Apple I guess. I know slower charging over faster charging is better for battery health but everything I've seen on that makes it seem really negligable. And it's not like the phone doesn't support faster charging.

Nope, I always grab 'em. You can never really have enough, especially when you own multiple devices (iPad, iPhone, Apple Watch). They also get lost or misplaced pretty frequently so it is good to have spares.

I presume they don't include the heavy-duty chargers because most people just don't care that much, and those that do will buy aftermarket equipment to suit their needs.

I use my iPad charger for my iPhone as well so I have a few of them, also I hate the headphones so they never get used either.

What's the issue here?
The phones come with 5w chargers which charges the phone rather slowly but they support faster charging via higher W adapters like the iPad 12w or 30w ones.

People are annoyed at apple for included the 5w in the box instead of one capable of charging the phone faster.

I tend to keep mine, but they go into sockets around the house that I use less often.

I have so many charges, cables, and headphones that I only open them if my old stuff breaks. Honestly a problem with modern electronics

Also, if you want fast charging, it's 80 bucks to get the required charger and cord.

I never did. I'm using the power adapter from the ipad. It just bullshit that Apple cheap it out for a 1 grand phone.

I left everything except the phone in the box.

I've got plenty of lightning cables and I prefer wireless charging anyway, and who needs earpods?

Nope I leave all the accessories in the box unopened. I have multiple 12W adapters that I use and have been handed down to me that work just fine and charge very quickly.

The last phone I bought was an iPhone 7+ which I still have, and I used the 5W charger for a few months after because I didn't know about faster charging (even using a 12W charger cuts the time in half). If I ever end up getting an Xs Max I will toss the 5W charger right in the garbage. I thought they were including USB-C and 30W chargers with that, though?

Whatever you do, do not get rid of them. Experts predict that by 2035, usb cables and chargers will be the new currency in America. VGA and coax less so.

I have an iPhone X and it's ridiculous that these phones don't come with a fast charger

I bought a 12W USB power adapter at Apple for $25.

Thankfully I was able to score one of the official Apple 29 W chargers at Wal Mart for only $11. The USB C -> lightning cable was another $20. Worth checking on Brickseek to see if they carry any by you. But yeah, I wish they'd come with a fast charger as standard.

I bought a anker 30w charger and lightning to usb-c off amazon for $30.

Not even necessary tho because a 12w charger which is almost as fast as the 30w is just $10 for a good one.
What brand is that cable? There's a bunch of no names I saw at amazon.ca. I might get the 30w anker pd but might resort getting the cable at Apple store.

Seriously. The 12W chargers are like $20 and charge the + size phones so fast. Why they can't include one with at least the bigger models is silly. I got myself a 12W last year and I'm much happier than with the 5W. So fast. I won't even bother taking the one out of the box when I get my XS.

Good to know! I just read a bunch when the x launched that it was required but didn't know there were 3rd party options
It's so worth it and the anker branded charger is super sturdy too. Fast charging is such a game changer it makes me mad they don't include it, I think because the 30w is so big they don't include it.

Its an official cable I think, the box was dingy looking when I got it but I've been using the same charger for like a year now. I'd go with the official cable I've tried a 3rd party branded one and it didn't fast charge.

The 12w charger costs the same and is only 10% less efficient than the 61w when it comes to charging iPhones. Just put it in the box.

Yup - I've hoarded 12W chargers over the years. No interest in the fast charger, it's not thaaaaat much of a difference and super pricy

I usually charge my phone over night, so for that it's good enough. The "headphones", stickers, etc stay in the box though.

If they did include more powerful chargers, you'd still probably leave them in a box and had several of those.

Things I never take out of the box every year

Headphones
Adapter cable
Charger
USB to lightening cable
Any of the paperwork except the SIM ejector tool

Use wireless pad in the office and 29W fast charge at home. Used to use 12W iPad chargers before USB-C / wireless support.

I always thought the higher wattage chargers were detrimental to battery health. I always charge it overnight using the 5W charger so the charge speed differences mean zero to me.
