Yes I know, no matter what happens somehow Republicans are going to take a win a Dems the loss. He gets confirmed, win for GOP, Doesn't, win for GOP. GOP wins just for deciding to go left or right anymore it seems.

Things are going to be fine. Just wait until he actually does get confirmed and watch the Democrat enthusiasm soar to new heights. Elections are so close now.

Fuck that purple column

The enlightened Independents still can't find a reason to vote even after all this shit. Why am I not surprised? Politics for them is only a way to feel superior to others that pick a side or let politics effect them on an emotional level, that's it. "Oh politics? Well let me tell you why I am so awesome because I don't pick either party like you". They don't actually care.

Looking at the Huffington post poll...

His level of support has remained unchanged.

More Americans believe her.

He still has low approval.

I'm really not seeing this grand effect he'll be having on GOP turnout.
I've worked 2 midterms with very positive polling and lost. I disagree. I would also cut any Dem Polling about in half for that reason. GOP shows up in midterms. We tend not to.
2010 and 2014 were GOP wave years

I quoted Konka but it's not showing up?

Anyway

Can't blame him for having that attitude after 2010 and 2014. I do think Dems will do very good (at least) in this midterm, but again, I get why one would feel differently.

True, but red state Ds don't need to confirm him either. Why would they? The 2020 vulnerable Ds could always say it's inappropriate to confirm a SC justice during the lame duck
He would be confirmed by the GOP.

And ramming a SC justice through the lame duck just gives Dems another reason to stack the court (hopefully) in 2021

Are there any D's vulnerable in 2020? Jean Shaheen on a bad night.

Fair points. I'm just used to being heart broken in midterms despite the polling.
2016 broke a lot of us, but people need to remember, GOP hasn't just had all of congress for the last 5 decades. Obama and the Dems dominated not even 10 years ago. It always swings back and this is an unprecedented president and GOP in terms of overall shittiness. When you lose Alabama, when you win AZ-08 specia election by 5 fracking points, you're in trouble, and that was months ago.

It is true that Blumenthal has made a handful of recorded statements that were false or misleading about his own military service during the Vietnam War and admitted as much after the publication of the New York Times' investigation in 2010. However, Blumenthal insisted that these falsehoods were "totally unintentional" and claimed that he had "misspoken" rather than being deliberately or knowingly untruthful.

Blumenthal did not always describe his military service in false or misleading terms. At times he spoke more accurately and modestly about his time in the Marine Reserves, and in a 2010 campaign speech (given before the New York Times report was published), he stipulated that "I did not serve in Vietnam."

Donald must be pissed if he's even bothering with this. Good. Also, I doubt many vets view this as anything other than an attack so, yeah good luck with that. He was still in the military.

Imagine getting riled up to help elect a guy you'd hate in real life, who looks down on the MIDDLE class let alone the working poor - and who you're pretty sure is an alcoholic racist.

There's plenty of Nimrods who think he's innocent and telling the truth but the majority of Kavanagh supporters just don't care. He's their guy. That's it.

I've been on the Warren train for a long time. I understand people's criticism of her, but I don't share most of them. I think she is inspiring, and a policy nerd.

I feel like its a good time for her to run now. As long as we're building the bench up behind her as she moves on, she's a key role in Congress right now.

Also I'm totally for everyone who is a Dem who wants a shot at it to have it, we need a long range of possible candidates instead of the 5 we had coming in this last round. That was pitiful.

(Swetnick is Avenatti's client.)

Instead of investigating Swetnick's claims, the White House counsel's office has given the FBI a list of witnesses they are permitted to interview, according to several people who discussed the parameters on the condition of anonymity. They characterized the White House instructions as a significant constraint on the FBI investigation and caution that such a limited scope, while not unusual in normal circumstances, may make it difficult to pursue additional leads in a case in which a Supreme Court nominee has been accused of sexual assault.
A White House official did not specifically dispute limitations on the scope of the FBI's investigation but denied the White House was "micromanaging" the inquiry.
Oh, I'm sure.

The White House council gave the FBI a list of people they are permitted to interview? How is that not obstruction?

I like Warren a lot but I don't think she's strong enough to win. Maybe I'm in the minority on that. I'd prefer Harris over Warren even though I like Warren and her positions a hell of a lot more.
