Did you stop during the first Capaldi season, or was it after that? I love Capaldi's take on the Doctor, but I saw that many people didn't like his first season. If that's your case as well, try to watch more, because even those who hated him on the first grew to love him afterwards.
I think the last Capaldi one I watched was the about the moon being an egg for a space butterfly. That was peak stupidity for me. Looking it up, yeah, that was the his first season. The reason I'm more optimistic about this series is that Moffat has finally stepped down from being head writer. Guy was so over his head in that job.

In more PC Gaming related things:
I started playing N++, and that game is really quite amazing. Really perfect controls, and beautifully simplistic level design.

I stopped after Clara was in a Dalek.

Capaldi is great but man I've just grown really tired of Daleks and Cybermen.
This was Matt's Who, though? But even this isn't even the worst of Doctor Who. Season 10 is absolutely unwatchable, it's so bad it made me gave up on the entire show.

Capaldi's Doctor is GREAT, it's just that the far overwhelming majority of his episodes are badly written and he has the worst companions in the series by a long shot. Mummy on Orient Express, Zygon Invasion/Inversion, Flatline and Heaven Sent are some of my favorite Who episodes, though. Must watch and can be watch independently, Heaven Sent less so, but it's still recommended.

Did they fix the ranking/bonuses being only dependant on speed? That (and mid mission enemy reinforcements) really sucked in the 1st game.
Ranking (but not all bonuses) is still dependent on speed, but there are three significant differences:
  • There is more often variety in mission objectives, not just "capture the enemy base camp", and those different objectives require different approaches.
  • The new features (grenadiers and their interception fire, 1 CP tank activation and tank interception, direct command mode which allows you to move more than 1 unit/CP, ...) all encourage using more units and different classes even when you are going for speed. I'm surprised how well all of those work together to make for a more varied tactical game, even the ones I was really skeptical of when I initially heard of them (like the 1CP tanks).
  • The layout of the missions is mostly effective in preventing pure cheese strategies (I assume those will still work when you reach late-/post-game power levels, but that's a fact of life in SRPGs).
As for mid-mission reinforcements, those still exist when they make sense story/mission wise. I never had a big problem with those even in VC1, so I'm probably the wrong person to ask, but I feel like people aren't complaining as much about it as back then. (Of course, that might just be because those who hated it with a passion aren't playing VC4)

I just started Shadow Warrior 2.

Why did they make it a Borderlands like? Why do I have loot? Why do enemies have elements? Why do weapons have elements?

The gunplay feels good, but I dont really like the Borderlands feeling in a series actually known to be like Doom.

Because loot is awesome and creates slightly different play experiences.

You forgot procedurally generated levels that generate every time you going on a mission with few exceptions, with little to no variety and expectadly horrible level design. This is way worse than just having loot

Hmm, it seems like Life is Strange 2 was going to have a bonus wallpaper as a preorder bonus but they removed it from the package a day before launch. I wonder if SE is going to move away from wallpapers as a preorder bonus as a lot of people seemed upset that they either misunderstood or there was a translation error some places that the Shadow of the Tomb Raider preorder bonus was just a PC wallpaper and not a Steam background.

Shadow warrior 2 is really good i played it on release but i know patches came that tweaked things for better but i didnt get to jump back in.

I preferred it to borderlands but that could be because i prefer playing alone most time and borderlands seemed more suited to co op where as shadow warrior i didnt get that vibe as much as its possible.

Finished Little Nightmares.

This was very neat. Love the setting and atmosphere.
There was 1 platforming section at the beginning that was frustrating. The checkpoint/autosave system is weird - whenever you fail you usually restart really close to that spot, but not every checkpoint actually saves? (Or does only lighting a lantern save? But never restart from a lantern...) Like, the game is short enough that this doesn't matter and it clearly saves when you finish a chapter, but this is such a puzzling design decision.
Have to grab the expansion pass when it's on sale.

They also said "Steam exclusive" wallpaper and gave us cover art that we had since the reveal!

Valkyira Chronicles 4's last few chapters. ;_;7

The game was really good, while it is mostly more of the same, the few new additions it's got are really cool, and the mission design is pretty great.
Even the story is a lot better imho.

Very, very much recommended.

Biggest issue is, that scouts are still the strongest class in the game.
I don't get why that hasn't been changed.

Huh. it seems like humble unpaused my sub for some reason? I specifically paused at the end of August because I didn't want Overwatch, and the pause email said that okay, no new games until November for you, but now they unpaused me before this monthly is even over.
I was still able to pause again for October, but I really shouldn't have to pause twice for the same month.

Subs were charged yesterday. If you pause now, you're actually pausing for November.

I haven't been charged though, just checked. And the note I got when pausing was still about October.

Maybe it was a bug and I wasn't really unpaused, it just looked like it. I didn't even get a new pause email.

Who knows.

You didn't get charged because you had paused, youhadn't paused, you would've been charged for month yesterday.
Unless, you manually unlock October, next charge date is last Friday of October, which is for November.

Should show you skipping like:

Still, their "Welcome to Humble Monthly" email congratulated me for getting Overwatch, which is not accurate.

Also got a congratulations on getting Overwatch email despite delaying my sub for this month.
This.

So do you guys turn on Bitlocker on Windows 10? I was just checking some things with my MS account and it mentions I do not have it on. I am curious if the encryption would slow stuff down and if you used it.

Yeah, both of those are from his first season. He didn't get a lot of good material, but the following seasons got a lot better (there's one specific episode where he's alone that is just amazing).
(I am also giving advice I wasn't able to follow when I was in a similar situation, since I hated Smith and could never watch all of his stuff after dropping Who on his second season)

Had the same issue with Humble Bundle. Got an email congratulating me on getting Overwatch when I had explicitly paused earlier in the month. Paused again to (hopefully) not get charged. Something's screwy though.

I use only for externals.

It seems to be too much of hassle for internals at least for me and not that many benefits.

If you have proper hardware, encryption will be handled by drive itself and should be without loss of performance.

Software mode will have penalty depending on CPU speed. (Minimal on CPUs with AES-NI).

Zook, the PR/Secretary/information gathering/background guy talsk about what working for Totalbiscuit was like for 7 years

Some tidbits:

- he criticised TB for tweeting Anti-Trump stuff and telling him that he lost so-and-so many followers because of this tweet and that.
- they never developed a friendship, Zook wanted to talk about bro-stuff like "tits and ass" but TB only talked about work stuff
- the BIGGEST PR DISASTER and the BIGGEST MISTAKE Totalbiscuit ever made, according to Zook? Throwing a homophobe person out of a Convention he was attending.

Only going from the tidbits here, but this guy sounds like a bit of a prick

watched this video some days ago. Zook sounds like the type of PR person that only cares about numbers, not context or exactly being a decent guy(as in, the person one represents). to say this video was shocking is an understatement. really glad TB didn't listen to him on those examples.

Well, I mean, that's a somewhat normal employee/boss relationship. I mean yes, it's entirely possible to be friendly with your employees, but not all bosses are going to be into that.

I also wonder if there was an element of work/life separation going on there.

Yup, I was prepared for a little deconstruction of the TB myth and he talks about this, but then he goes on about the so-called PR-Disasters and all I'm getting is, that Zook is an alt-right asshole that worked for a liberal Youtuber.
He also didn't get into specifics on what kind of messages he refused to post when he was responsible for TB's Twitter account.

Not sure why TB worked with this asshole. I guess at least he didn't listen to him on key decisions, at which point you have to wonder why even keep this fool around?

Biggest complaint I have on Shadow of the Tomb Raider is the action is hella taking a seat back.
I've had game time of like an two hours or a bit more where I didn't have anything to fight or kill.
Which I can see being a welcome addition for older fans of the series. However, I much preferred Rise's amount of combat.

I like how despite these things he still doesn't seem seem to be thought of well around here in virtually all times I've seen him brought up in discussion. Couldn't be perfect like other users here I suppose.

The dlc not being on sale for Shadow of War makes the 16 dollar sale price rather sneaky. Is any of the dlc necessary? Figured I'd give it a go now that the micro transactions have been patched out for the nemesis stuff

It's a very pretty game with a lot of detail put into the environments. I can't believe people convinced themselves it was PS3 level in the leaked shots thread we had pre-release.

I want to take and share some shots too, but all my 4K screens end up being 20+ MB.

Valkyira Chronicles 4's last few chapters. ;_;7

I already pre-ordered VC4 and have it downloaded but wanna replay VC1 first to get back in the groove and remember some story beats.

Scouts are still strong... I thought they fixed Scout rushing?

If I had to pin a negative on SotTR I guess it would be less combat so far, like you say. It's a fun distraction, and sometimes you could fast-travel around Rise to respawn enemies for loot or slaughter.

Still, can't say I mind too much. The puzzles are better in Shadow, and I know many people complain about the amount of collectibles, but I like piecing together the mini-stories.
