I'd go XB1X specifically for RDR2, PS4P as a platform because there are three worthwhile exclusives compared to the Xbox's none.

PS4 Pro has more stuff you'll never see on PC, but if you're specifically after RDR2 and nothing else, it'll run and look better on the Xbonx.

Tricky situation. One platform has more exclusive games you won't get on PC, the other has the best console hardware and some exclusives.

Personally, as a PC first gamer I got the PS4P because it has more exclusive games that I will never get to play on PC. Some of my favorite games of this gen are PS4 exclusives so I would recommend the PS4P.

If you're interested in Sony exclusives (which have had a good run this generation IMO), pick the PS4.

If not, pick the Xbox One X, since you seem to have more pros for that.

Get an Xbox One X alongside gamepass. You'll have a few games to mess around with and be able to play what's supposed to be the best looking/running version of RD2.

I got a One X just for RD2 and Forza alongside a 4K TV.

It's fantastic.

Makes the most sense to go with PS4. Ultimately if you feel forced to get a console you might as well get the most out of it, and you do that with games. I'm not sure what Xbox One exclusives you can't currently play on PC, but it seems like the list is pretty small.

OP if you are in just for gaming go with the Pro. I have a high end PC and a Pro and I never have to suffer a gaming drought due to both getting good and different games throughout the year.

It seems extremely likely that they will bring the game to PC, so I wouldn't reward them for their shitty behavior - nor do I think that one game is worth buying a system for.

Unless you absolutely must have the best experience, and I do understand wanting that as a PC gamer, I see very little reason to buy an Xbox One X if you already have a good gaming PC.
Even with the fastest hardware, it's still going to be a "console" experience.
Is Red Dead Redemption 2 really worth $560 to you?

I think it is unlikely considering that Rockstar have the opportunity to take as much time as they need to make the game, but it may end up not even being that good.
Blizzard are in the same position as Rockstar, and while their games are certainly very polished, everything they've done in recent years has been utterly boring to me.

So if I was going to buy a system for it, I'd pick the one which has more games that I don't have access to.
The list of games which are actually exclusive to the PlayStation 4/Pro is very small and not worth buying a console for though, in my opinion.

You could just wait for the port instead of rewarding their shitty behavior?

If you absolutely must, go with the X I guess. Most powerful, supports M/Kb. Yada yada. Plus Microsoft has the better network, services, and policies. (Hello refunds.)

I play primarily on PC and have gotten very little use out of my PS4 every year since Bloodborne and Persona 5. So I say just wait.

Just wait for PC. But if you cant wait just get a PS4 Pro you have access to all Xbox exclusives on PC.

It depends on if you want to play any sony exclusives.

If you only plan to play RDR than get the xbox1 because it'll most likely look better than the pro.

Im 99% a PC gamer these days and I have a PS4 Pro for the exclusives. I feel the xbox has too much overlap with PC and makes it kind of redundant outside of a handful of titles.

If you want the best version of Red Dead Redemption, the Xbox One X would be the go to platform, specially since you aren't a fan of the DS4. Also its the only place to play Red Dead Redemption 1 in 4k if you want to revisit the game before 2 drops. You also have access to all Halo's (except Reach) at 4k/60fps in case you're into those and a lot of other X enhanced titles from the 360/OG era.

However, PS4 Pro is a nice system with an amazing library. So if you're looking to play a few more games besides RDR2, it would be the better choice.

I own both and love what they offer. My only nitpick is that I wish the PS4 Pro didn't sound like a damn jet engine sometimes :(

Since you have a good PC it would be a mistake to buy an Xbox IMO. All of the good games are also on PC.

If you are going to own a console you might as well own the one that's going to give you the most original games not available anywhere else. And trust me, you are not going to notice the power difference.

If you already own a high end PC then Xbox is big NO as all exclusive are on PC. Pro better choice even though it's weaker than X but still better choice coz more and better exclusives atm.

I would never pick up a console just to play a game earlier. I already have an X and still plan on waiting for the PC version simply because I don't want to pay RS twice like I did with GTAV (3x actually, wtf was I thinking).

If you think you'll be getting a lot of use out of a consol aside from RDR2 then I don't think you can go wrong with either one. The biggest factors for me would be Sony exclusives vs 4k Blu Ray player/play anywhere.

Get the Pro if you are interested in more then just RDR2. One X won't give you access to a new library and your PC is more powerful anyway.
If you are just interested in RDR2; don't be silly and wait. It's coming.

Sorry OP but I don't get it. Do you actually care about current PS4 exclusives? (yeah, I know you said so, but I don't think you are at all convinced). Because if not, I don't know how this is even a question... Xbox One X, of course.

My preference would be if you're in the US/UK/Aus, get the Xbox. elsewhere (EMEA, AsiaPac), the PS4. Mainly for better regional support from the manufacturers.

Worst-case scenario would be getting an Xbox in Japan, I imagine the online store and hardware support would be lacking.

You're 100% going to get a biased opinion on this forum lol

Seriously, lol. I always find it wierd when people ask these questions on Era, knowing how lopsided the fanbase is here. Majority of these familiar avatar posts are literally ignoring the OP, while you have others that seem upset because of his pros/cons layout. Cant even make this up.

If you're really only getting a console for rdr, then just wait until it hits pc. Once you get past the two week release window people will be on about the next big release, just let the hype pass.

But if you're more interested in a console than you're letting on, then get a Pro

Since you already own a PC and have access to the MS play anywhere exclusives, a PS4 Pro will get more use with its exclusives. I own a PS4 Pro and a PC and I've been really interested in the Xb1X, but I just can't justify it even though I think it's a very nice console.

If you already have a PC then the pro is a no brainer. It will cost you U$160 less if you manage to get the red dead bundle and it also has exclusives that you won't be able to play on PC.

Also, game pass is not exclusive to xbox owners, I'm not sure about third party stuff but all MS first party games can be played on PC through gamepass as well.

Either suck it up or get the X based on your pros/cons. I don't think the Pro would be worth it if you're not going to dive deep into the system's library.

Seriously, there's no question. You buy a PS4. Why would you buy an XB1 when you can get all the games it has on PC? Plus you get the added bonus of being able to play some great exclusives.

So if you like story-driven games, you should go with PlayStation 4 Pro. Sony has a lot of very strong exclusives, which diversify your gaming library.

Xbox One X has a neat thing with backward compatibility, so you can play a lot of exclusives from original Xbox and Xbox 360 days, or even some of multiplatform titles that never received any ports / remasters to a current generation. This library is seriously massive. If you are more interested in a current exclusives though, you can play most of them on your PC as they're UWP and available on Windows Store.

I would go with Pro if I were you.

I have a PS4 Pro, no Xbox One X...

but if I were buying one right now I'd get the Xbox tbh. Even watching DigitalFoundry comparisons on my TVs app, it's a pretty big difference in quality for games that support both systems. PS4 Pro is probably a better PC companion but I'm a sucker for graphics.

It really isn't, having previously owned both I sold the X as it really didn't add much to games apart from a higher resolution. The only game that really impressed me was Forza Horizon 3. The X is a superb machine but it isn't utilised as much as it should be.

And OP, go for the Pro. Loads of great exclusives to play, and you can pick up an adapter to use an Xbox controller on the Pro.

PS4, you can play MS games on your PC, but you can't play God of War, Uncharted, Horizon: ZD etc.

Pretty much this. I feel Sony currently has more varied and interesting exclusives but that doesn't matter if you don't intend to get them.

The X is a great machine and i do feel that you are looking at cross platform games it would be the better choice.

I would get the Pro, OP, since you can get a whole bunch of exclusives compared to Xbone, especially if you don't like playing shooters on a controller.

- Uncharted Collection and 4
- Bloodborne
- TLOU with 2 next year
- God of War
- Spider-Man
- Gravity Rush 1&2

And a bunch more I am too lazy to list out. If you are getting one console, IMO, PS4 is the one to get.

That said, Xbox is attractive with GamePass and EA Pass as you can play a ton of games including fairly recent Sports games without buying them outright. I actually did that myself recently.

This is also a weird question. Of course he cares. An exclusive game is still a game at the end of the day, it just happens to be an exclusive. Unless of course if those games do not interest you, but that is another story

Edit: on second thought, maybe you just paraphrased it badly

You mentioned g-sync, are you going to play on a 1440p panel?

If so, One X will do 1440p but PS4 will only do 1080. If you're playing on the TV, go with your heart.

I'm personally waiting for the PC version. Learned my lesson on GTAV.

I'd go for the PS4 mainly for the exclusives. However if you want the best fidelity for solely RDR2 than probs best to go for the XBX.

Not only Sony exclusives.

There are many Japan titles not hitting Xbox platform or PC.

For example: Judge Eyes, Persona 5...

Voted Xbox because that is what you seem to really want.

If it were me, I'd go Pro if I already had a kick ass gaming PC I could play MS games on. Gotta have my Forza.

RDR2 will most likely have noticably better graphics on the One X if you have a kick ass TV.

If you already have a PC an Xbox One X seems redundant. A PS4 Pro is the real move for the exclusives.

  • Not a fan in general of some of Sony's business decisions/practices.
mmm Sony's recent years had been great/ok i really dont know why you didnt put the same con on Xbox, well it seems you like that brand more? if not go with ps4 pro the exclusives worth it.
