Finished the game. It was fun but so easy that might as well remove all puzzles and just let you go on with the story.
It's alright that you don't really enjoy branching narratives, but I'd hardly count the feature as a concession. Dave Gilbert had to do a bunch of extra writing in order to create a game that felt reactive to your decisions as a character and the people that you took along in your party. I appreciated it, but I can understand those who pine for a more classic PnC protagonist. It sucks that with the popularity of streaming, more adventure games are going to have to take the multiple paths requirement so people won't be able to see everything in one playthrough. I'm worried now about Lamplight City. I have a bad feeling I'm not going to enjoy it either, because it will have to make similar sacrifices.
It's okay, I'm glad I'm in the minority and I can see why lots of people are saying that this is their favorite Wadjet Eye game. I do think that Dave is pushing the genre forward, and I hope that this game shows up on some best of the year lists on more mainstream sites. It's alright that you don't really enjoy branching narratives, but I'd hardly count the feature as a concession. Well after the
That intro is kinda... one of the best in video games? I'm really floored by how well it sets the game up. There's probably gonna be some YouTube breakdown on its genius a few years down the road.
Yeah.If its the one im thinking off...
Number of legs . Its a spin on the classic sphinx ridle
I thought this puzzle was aboutYeah. It is diabolically straightforward once you realise how it works, though.I asked about it last page.
You find the list of forms, and then go to the keypad and see "LEGS" scrawled on it as a reminder of how it works. An old man has 3 legs, a man has 2, a dog has 4, etc.
The Sphinx's riddle is something like, "what creature has four legs in the morning, two in the afternoon, and three in the evening?" the answer is, "a man". If you aren't thinking that way I don't think you can ever solve it logically.
I went down all kind of wrong assumptions myself, trying to solve it before I gave up and asked here.I thought this puzzle was aboutremoving the letters L E G S and then seeing how many letters remain from a word, or that the letter order of LEGS determines what number to enter
Ivellios sorry forgot to tag you for my post above. It has an explanation for that puzzle.

I think I spent like an hour combing the level for more clues or some explanation, and failing the puzzle. I really wanted to figure it out myself, but from the beginning I was immensely overanalysing how it worked.I was like, "IT IS LEET SPEAK! I'll type L3G5 and that's the... oh, let's try 7365. Hmm it doesn't work, let me reverse it! Ok let's try the first one again to make sure I typed it right....
And it just went downhill from there.

A common complaint about this game that I keep hear people bring up is that its too easy , and while I absolutely agree I dont know how it can be solved - because the reason it feels that way is that the puzzles are all logical and make sense, and no random obtuse moon logic ever impeded my progress .
I'm really glad to see Unavowed getting some deep dives on how good it is.
The rest of Wadjet Eye's catalogue is an easy rec, too. Technobabylon and Gemini Rue are the next two I'd recommend.
To change your avatar:Hello all! Developer of the game here. Just thought I'd register to say "Hi" and "thank you" for all the lovely things you are saying about Unavowed. It was a blast to make and I'm super glad you all are enjoying it. Also, there doesn't seem to be a way to change my profile avatar? I feel like a moron. Anyway, thanks again!

Get VERAfied, good sir!Avatar changed!
And what is this "Widget Eye" of which you speak?
So your role in Nighthawks is more hands off? I'm excited for it regardless, the artstyle is lovely and I've been hungry for more good vampiric fiction after playing Vampyr and Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines earlier this year. Thanks! It's been a ride. :) Still mulling over what I'm personally going to work on next, although I'm working with two other developers on something new. Will announce when I've got something to share.
