The FBI will interview the four (?) people who are supposed witnesses of what happened between Kavanaugh and Ford. Those people probably won't move away much from their written testimony since it would mean they lied the first time so they'd be fucked. Other than that I don't expect much from this. Maybe more women come forward with allegations. Avenatti will certainly play the media for the entire week. We'll see.

Doesn't the GOP need to convince like 9 democrats to vote in favor of confirmation even if nothing is found? I can't see him being confirmed anytime soon.

I'm wondering what they can do beyond interviewing the alleged witnesses, there surely can't be any tangible evidence of this left can there?

Right, but what are the witnesses going to say besides what they've already said in written statements? Mark Judge could deny deny deny and there's really no way of proving him wrong at this point.

If those time cards still exist, which I sincerely doubt, all that proves is that she was right about running into him working there. The PJ thing, I'm not sure what that would prove.

Honestly, the only thing the FBI has to do is establish that Kavanaugh was lying yesterday. If they can make it clear he lied, openly and knowingly, in front of the Senate, then his entire testimony is invalid.

Trump could pull the plug on the nomination this weekend and the media would automatically go on "that's so presidential!" mode, ignoring the fact that he was cheerleading for the guy during his trainwreck of a testimony yesterday. If would also help regain the support of many republican women who are just waiting for a tiny opening to jump back on the bandwagon.

That'd be a good move if not for his future legal troubles. He'd have to find another yes man to put on the bench.

We haven't heard from every witness. And an investigation conducted to find evidence is different from people randomly releasing statements.

It might provide cover, it might not. The important part in understanding the position of the R's right now is that this is now a bet they feel they need to take where before they were content letting Kavanaugh sail through unhindered. It shows that they are openly questioning the integrity of their own nominee and are willing to accede to demands for further inquiry.

And the assertion that this is a play by Flake is ridiculous because we're only here with such open questions about Kavanaugh's honesty BECAUSE people have been calling for as thorough an investigation as possible. None of these assertions of an incomplete or dishonest account would mean anything if those questioning him weren't willing to back up their assertions by involving the highest investigative body they have at their disposal. That's just conservative damage control for this late stage second guessing.

FBI proves Bart O lied about his habits and drinking games, enough doubt to make shoving him thru distasteful. And the Reps will say "Dems are shameful!"

I still think Flake is showboating, faking due dilligence until they vote Kav in, and then able to say "hey, im the one that tried, so different than Trump." Followed by presidental bid from him.

Yes. That's the part everyone seems to be forgetting. He's not going to let them try and take apart the testimony yesterday, or grill suspects. It's all going to be mundane bullshit. A real investigation would take longer than a week, and this one will not take a week to begin with.

So after the limited FBI investigation (see one week) that everyone agreed to, I'm looking forward to a bipartisan agreement to move forward with a confirmation vote in a week.

I'm absolutely certain that Democrats will stick to the agreement without further demands.

He just gave a statement saying he's ready to talk to the FBI, but only confidentially.

Not exactly a statement from someone who's just gonna say "I don't remember" over and over.

The White House are the only ones who can order the FBI to investigate this, and they just announced that they were doing just that.

with the fbi determining the scope. the dripping pessism on this forum is clouding some of you guys terribly and is frankly unbecoming

the fbi is also very large and can easily get to the details in a full week

I've ordered the FBI to conduct a supplemental investigation to update Judge Kavanaugh's file. As the Senate has requested, this update must be limited in scope and completed in less than one week.

I still think Brett gets in. I've thought he'll get in this whole time because I have no reason to believe Republicans wouldn't confirm a rapist. However, the delay is only a good thing. If the vote was today he would have been confirmed. Anything that pushes it back gives more time for something to come out that is too egregious for even the Republicans to ignore, although I sometimes wonder if such a thing even exists.

Limited scope should only mean theyre not going to rehash financials or some other topic. If it means just Dr. Ford's accusation, theyre kneecapping the other accusations
