Fox, how you gonna announce a release date for Dark Phoenix and then delay it two days later? And a PG13 Deadpool re-release? What fucking clowns are running Fox?

So what exactly happened with Dark Phoenix to put it through such production hell? I mean, there's the Bryan Singer thing, but for the longest time I heard how it was a stand-alone/spin off. Surprised to see the same cast on it when I saw the trailer!

I would laugh if for the kid friendly cut they altered or downplayed the LGBT themes. Book it, they are incompetent enough to do it.

The Disney/Fox deal is almost certain to be complete by the time Dark Phoenix comes out. A literal lame duck movie.

Oh shit, Dark Phoenix is releasing the same weekend as Secret Life of Pets 2?

And does this mean New Mutants is going to be pushed back yet again as well?

I fully expect New Mutants to be a Hulu original at this point.

More realistically, Alita is closer to Jupiter Ascending which also released in February. But I'm just pointing out Alita is not going to die because it released in February. February is not some 'dead month.' It's going to likely bomb wherever you put it at.
You're not wrong...

Honestly, I kind of adjusted to the eyes. I feel like if most people watched the movie, they would get used to it.
Once I got past the eyes, I realized the rest of it was awful, too.

While I appreciate and support the success of R rated superhero movies (and more R rated movies in general), personally I find the humor in Deadpool to be overly reliant on cheap shock value. Isn't it funny the superhero said a naughty thing?! Yawn. The parts with situational humor and offbeat interactions with other characters are way funnier to me than the fact that omg ryan said that sex thing I read on urbandictionary.
So a cut with less cheap tricks might actually appeal to me more. Or it might just undermine the whole package and feel real awkward. I guess I'll find out.

Good for Alita. Although that won't change anything.
Aquaman is the one that would benefit from moving away from that date.

That Deadpool 2 thing looks like a dead man's bet. Like some Fox exec is trying to get himself a golden parachute before the great Disney exile.

Dark Phoenix? Eh, why not. Trailer looks okay, it could end up doing well. Apocalypse did 500 mil, if they sell this one right, it could easily top that.
Deadpool 2 post release marketing has been weird like they still push the DVD commercials. Like they trying to make sure DP has a mcu spot

They should just drop all of these and release them directly to a 3AM TV premire on FXX like the pilot for that aborted Wheel of Time TV series.

So this is what the death spiral of a classic, big Hollywood studio like Fox looks like.

Rereleasing an R rated film that's already on home video (and has been torrented ten billion times by the kids they're targeting this PG-13 cut at) is nothing short of a humiliation.

Moving Alita to Valentine's next year is a solid move even if it's not a date film. Dark Phoenix will struggle to cross $100m domestic IMO whenever it opens so it's academic whether it's next Feb or next summer.

It's a real shame.

Sadly I have a feeling that this may not be the last 'big 6' (or big 5 now) studio to circle the drain in the next five years.

A PG-13 Deadpool film could work if they got the cast back to reshoot certain scenes and make jokes about the film being cut to a PG-13 rating.

If all they're doing is editing parts out of the existing film then I don't see the point.
Yeah, definitely going to wait for some reactions before I buy tickets to that.
