FOX moves Alita: Battle Angel and Dark Phoenix dates and adds PG13 Deadpool for this Christmas

Fox just made a slew of release date changes. Instead of opening Alita: Battle Angel on Dec. 21, she now goes on Feb. 14, 2019. Instead, Fox is releasing, what we hear, is a PG-13 version of Deadpool 2 on Dec. 21. They've listed it as untitled Deadpool movie.

Also, the next X-Men Dark Phoenix won't open on Feb. 14 anymore, rather next summer in the June 7 slot. The trailer launched this week earning close to 8M YouTube views on Fox's channel. Summer is not only a better date, but again, it gives the film a better shot to have a bigger opening in China.

Fox moving Anita is the smart move but Dark Phoenix is now in between Avengers 4 and Godzilla

How could they delay Phoenix when they actually put a date out THIS WEEK for it.
The idea of a re-releasing an R-rated movie with a PG-13 rating isn't unprecidented- it happened for The King's Speach- but makes zero sense here

Moving Alita was a GOOD choice. 2 other big movies come out that December date. This would've been lost to the others.

A kid-friendly DP movie where they actually go through and have alternate cuts where all the swearing is replaced with goofy shit and all the violence is equally modified would be kind of hilarious and clever.

I don't really think they'd have the foresight to do that though.

Don't get me wrong, I can't see Dark Phoenix doing well, but:
Dark Phoenix isn't opening Memorial Day weekend, Memorial Day isn't a "death weekend", and Disney isn't setting Fox's release dates yet

Dark Phoenix being moved to June wouldn't really seem all that weird (this is the First Class date slot) if it weren't for the fact they literally released a trailer yesterday with the February information. What a bizarre turn of events.
