this is going well enough for the Republicans to vote him in.
At this point, we're going to have to consider the increasingly real possibility that the only chance any sane human being has of moving forward in this country is to just fucking leave.
The Republicans got their dog and pony show and they won't change their tune at all. If Kavanaugh gets confirmed, there's no point in even pretending justice still exists.
I thought Kavanaugh's display as an orator was actually very Trumpesque. Rambling and incoherent with a bit of rage and contempt thrown in for good measure, Trump would love that.

And this is why people that think Trump is the root of the problem or suddenly why Republicans are deplorable are ignorant of what the GOP has been for years. It's not just Trump voters that are deplorable.
Yeah, if all the GOP Senators fell for it too, then he gets confirmed next week. But if some combination of Collins/Murkowski/Flake/Corker aren't impressed, then Trump being sold is best case scenario for the Dems. Means that Trump refuses to withdraw, but the wavering Senators get to demand more delays to investigate, pushing things closer to the midterms.
If that whiny, ranting performance plays well with fellow rape apologists, Trump, etc. it's because deep down that absolutely pathetic display of cognitive dissonance, indignance and all-around white male grievance is a raw expression of what's playing in all of their heads 24 hours a day.
Trump approves because this isn't "real" weakness. It's an angry white man throwing a tantrum because WYMN dare challenge his supremacy. It's what Trump has probably wanted to do ever since the Stormy Daniels situation began.

We're dismissive of him, but have no doubt everything he did and said played very well with the right and those that support him. It also exposed one thing, he's about party before country.
The media is currently eating up the both side stuff; unless the Democrats come in swinging with some hard hitting stuff it seems like he will be confirmed. Flakes, Collins, etc aren't enough of renegades to deny GOP a right-leaning SC.
And for the majority of them getting voted the fuck out in the midterms a month from now.
