One of the many things that's incredible about this to me is that Republicans are so transparent throughout this process. Like, all of this is due to their lack of due dilligence and their completely bowing to Trump. If they vetted the nominee properly, if they actually gave any sort of FBI investigation, if they properly gave the hearing the proper time that it deserved, if they just withdrew the nominee and found another one... So many ways to have avoided this all together, but they're keeping on keeping on.

It's ghastly. All of this is ghastly. All of them deserve to be removed from power.

Is paid soldiering a protected class now? Seem like pretty rational positions to me.

Completely irrelevant to the current situation, in addition to being a fucking stupid 'position'.

Question: What is the approval rating for Kavanaugh among Republicans? I bet they don't change very much after today.

Kav's interview will be interesting. We know he's lied quite a bit. About his virginity, drinking etc. Dems will have to hammer him on that and bring up Mark Judge as well. Or at least quote Judge's book. It's hard to believe Judge was this crazy drinker and party goer while Kav was some innocent schoolboy.

Trump Jr's twitter feed is some of the most vile shit I have ever seen. What the fuck is wrong with these people?

Absolutely do not derail this thread any further over your feelings about military service. This thread is not about that and that conversation needs to stop here. Thank you.

If you were CNN and wanted a token Repub to embarrass himself, who better than Santorum?

If we ignore the troops comments, we can move on.

Trump has to be on the phone right now screaming at someone.

I'm sure "Bart O'Kavanaugh" was the good angel on Judge's shoulder

My wife, who is a therapist for sexual assault victims, is telling me this anxiety angle is a usual tactic used because of studies tying anxiety attacks to memory loss or a fogged recollection. So they are trying to line a case of "if she was having an anxiety attack during this time, how can she be sure it was Kavanaugh?"

Kavanaugh is a hill not worth dying over. But, it may be hard to find a judge willing to use his power to personally protect Russian conspirators. They NEED him, and specifically him. This much is clear to me.

what makes the troops brave? because i can tell you what makes Christine Ford brave. She might literally save Roe v Wade singlehandedly, because she had the fortitude to stand up to the entirety of the elite power structure of this country.
You do realize that real life combat is not like Call of Duty where you respawn when you die right? Troops aren't brave? Get the fuck outta here with that bullshit. Extremely disrespectful.

The first individual just espoused the opinion that she is more brave than any soldier. They made a comparison for literary effect. It was completely relevant.

Some nationalist pro militarist reacted to it and then it became a wildfire because it is a provocative position.

It is not, however, stupid.

Edit: And after a bit of further consideration it's highly relevant to consider how a militaristic war society may foster and encourage the ideas and cultures that lead to increased incidences of sexual assault and rape. Given that these societies give undue/exaggerated social standing and virtue to individuals on the basis of their displays of physical aggression and warlike behavior.

I don't know why mods are tolerating this. This is a fucking thread about sexual assault testimony, not how much you hate or care about troops, how the fuck did this even enter the conversation good lord. Kindly fuck off.
You're reiterating my point that arguing this stuff here is embarrassing. But thanks for telling me to fuck off without knowing my stance on the issue, says a lot.

...I wouldn't put it past Mitch McConnell to engineer something like so: Put on a firm public face in favor of Kavanaugh to appease Trump and the GOP base, but then let him fail spectacularly in a floor vote, allowing people like Dean Heller (the most vulnerable Republican up this year) to vote against him and shore up their credentials with women and independents. Then Trump nominates a scandal-free nominee and that person is fast-tracked through.
If they decide in private to dump Kavanaugh then this hypothesis is how I'd imagine the next few months would play out. Especially if their next nominee is Amy Barett. Then they get to put on a brave face and say "look! I voted against creepy Kavanaugh and now support this female nominee instead!"

You do realize that by calling them cowards for partisan reasons you are no better than the President? Separate their military service from who they vote for.
Ok easy peasy the US military is evil and joining it isn't brave

Anyways I'm gonna stop before a mod gets annoyed but feel free to message me if you want to be offended about empire
