If Steve or Minecraft content gets in this game, I'll have all the reason to be posting this repeatedly .
The only reason I feel Banjo would be better as DLC is that more of the "older" crowd would spend more money on DLC than, say, younger kids who want Minecraft. But at the same time, it isn't like they aren't used to digital distribution.
I want both, and I think both have merit in terms of being on the roster. As for Mega Man, he was the first Capcom character I personally encountered (outside of Arthur) back on the NES, and made the most sense as their main rep. Ryu, of course, also made a lot of sense, and showed up next.
I've never played Wonderful 101 outside of the demo, but I think Wonder Red has a lot of moveset potential and he'd be a great addition.
I'd also like Viewtiful Joe, I think aesthetically he looks cooler than WR, but I don't see that happening at all.
I just can't see sakurai working in doomguy. Bayo works because her guns are fantastical. Doom is literally all about the extreme violence.
Banjo would be the first franchise Microsoft franchise a lot of Nintendo fans are attached to. Kind like how he wasn't a Microsoft franchise to begin with

I love Doomguy but they'd have to take away the signature shotgun cause it's too realistic and they would have to take away the gore completely. Completely goes against the character and I don't think Sakurai would be down for that

Also by taking the green space marine niche he makes master chief even more impossible, and thats bad.
I would probably say that there are many more Nintendo fans who identify with Minecraft over Banjo these days. The reach of that game is beyond most others, and it represents the newer, younger generation of fans well. Banjo is more of a hardcore retro pick, which is fine by me.
There's plenty of younger kids who love the series. My nephew is all about Minecraft still but also loves playing Smash. He'd want to play as Minecraft for sure.
So I expect the character to be somewhat boring to play as.
So why is it Cloud doesn't have English voice acting in Smash? He has an English voice actor.
Yeah, Viewtiful Joe would be awesome too, but he's third party and hasn't had a game in years, so I don't even consider him a possibility. Wonder-Red on the other hand I'll keep being hopeful for, even if his chances are very slim.

Did anyone ever datemined Smash 3DS? I don't remember anything comes out of it?
We already knew the roster and stages. There wasn't anything left to get. The ESRB leak made datamining pointless.
That was after the ESRB leak and the game was a few days away from release in Japan.

Wonder Red should never be in this Smash game. Maybe his game can sell some copies before he steps to the Smash front door.
Ridley dragging someone on the ground isn't the same as actual guns and chainsaws and shit.
Smash is a non-union game, Cloud's VA is strictly union, and I believe he has a contract where no one else can voice Cloud in English.
Actual guns and chainsaws have been staples of cartoon violence since the dawn of animation
Training will probably replace the random button
Sakurai said that was training mode exclusive. So if you select training mode it will probably fast track you there

It's kind of surprising how generous Square is with rights looking back. Like why the hell would you agree to a contract like that?
I still think there's a good chance of a Monster Hunter stage.
