Well because Obsidian in my opinion is one of the best RPG makers in the industry i would love to see them make the game, Don't know how it would turn out if it was made by an american ...
Sony have spent their entire history in this industry copying Nintendo's successful innovations.
Actually Sony did approach em for just that after they lost Halo to Microsoft.
Here is a lil thing I wrote(three pages) that details it: http://gamasutra.com/view/feature/134742/studio_profile_guerrilla_games.php
"Back in December 1999," said Hulst, "we had made a demo called Marines. I showed it to Sony in London, and you have to understand back then that was a risky proposition -- since the only popular console FPS was GoldenEye. A lot has changed since then."
Given the market conditions when Hulst pitched the project to Sony, and the fact that Sony already had a promising sci-fi shooter slated for its platform, its decision to take a pass on the Marines project made sense.
On one hand, you had a small Dutch developer which had never produced a shooter before, and on the other hand was a well-known developer with a proven track record. Coming from the PC and Mac sphere, Bungie had extensive experience in making first person shooters (the Marathon series) and had two games pledged for the upcoming PS2 system.
One was a third person action game called Oni; the other one however is arguably the game that built the Xbox brand -- none other than Halo: Combat Evolved.
Bungie started out as one of the very few Mac game developers, but economic realities (the implosion of sales of Macintosh computers in the late '90s) forced it to branch out to Windows computers as well.
Halo was first considered for release on Mac, PC, and Dreamcast. As hype started to build around the upcoming release of the PlayStation 2, the Dreamcast version was shelved in favor of a console exclusivity deal with Sony for PS2 -- where Sony itself would act as publisher of the game.
Microsoft, however, was coming out with its Xbox and needed more talented developers to attract gamers to its first real entry into the console industry. Bungie was open for a buyout, and Sony lost the Halofranchise. It still got Oni via Rockstar, however.
Ironically, Halo: Combat Evolved -- the game that killed the Marines project for Sony -- was also the one that revived it. After the huge success Halo enjoyed on the Xbox, Sony realized it needed a high profile exclusive sci-fi shooter on the PS2. Guerrilla was contacted and the project got the greenlight -- and the budget it needed.
I didn't say that. I didn't even almost say that.Really? Nintendo are the only company who innovate. I'm not going to side-track this thread but no, just no.
I love Obsidian but I'd have them on something else. New Vegas 2 isn't possible but I'd get them working on some sort of modern RPG. Let them pick.
I didn't say that. I didn't even almost say that.
I was just citing the most common, obvious and consistent example of copying between the 3 current HW manufacturers. I am not here to get into dumb fanboy-ish arguments.
There is nothing wrong with copying success. Our entire society is based on copying success. Copying successes is smart business.
Guys, this is just a fan fest. Please do not hype it up. The hype will kill me, eventually...
It's not. :PGuys, this is just a fan fest. Please do not hype it up. The hype will kill me, eventually...
X0 Events are definitely not just fan fests. I mean don't expect the quantity of E3 announcements, but they will definitely have cool new stuff. News on Gears. Crackdown 3. FH4 December Expansion. I also think there is a chance for Battletoads and an update on Microsoft Studios.
Capcom it is then!

OMG, Could it be MS acquiring Rocksteady and announcing the first exclusive Superhero game for Xbox Scarlett?
Sounds too good to be true but Phil spoke about the Rare Acquisition during X0, another acquisition can't be ruled out. Also, MS now has 2 British Studios, PG and Rare, what are the chances of another one?
Rocksteady seems like the type of acquisition that would really put MS's first party studio on a higher level than before.
Literally the only thing that comes up on google search is that they copied some controller designs, what else? Their design still works while Nintendo spent the entire following gens with shitty controllers. Also in terms of games I can't think of a single instance where Sony has copied Nintendo, except for PSASBR, Sony 1st party has been the very definition of anti-Nintendo games.Sony have spent their entire history in this industry copying Nintendo's successful innovations.
It's not embarrassing, it's what smart businesses do. What's embarrassing is the amount of fanboy nonsense spouted after the fact.

Oh boy this is a nice surprise to come back to, been off ERA for a while.
I never really saw the older X events, it looks like this could have some nice announcements incoming. Hoping for any of the below;
- Halo Wars 2?
There is a tonne of things they can put into this one. With such a large audience, I'm sure they will have some whoppers for Game Pass too.
Oh, so MS didn't copy PS eye, a bluray player or adding games to their live service? And Nintendo didn't move over to disk and Wiimote isn't based off what Sony were doing with Eye on PS2. Both Nintendo and Sony have greatly improved their services to compete with MS.
Like you say they all do it, just funny you singled out one company and then add to that with the above.
Anyway, like you say, I'm not getting into a fanboy argument - probably best not to say things that might start one.
Sony went cd long before Nintendo did, they also helped make DVD and Blu Ray the mainstream media of choice which is no small feat.
They were also the first to do dual thumbsticks and have rumble built into a controller which have become the norm for most modern gaming consoles.
DVD was mainstream long before PS2 and Blu Ray they won because of studio politics and bribes.
Also twin analog was the logical progression of twin sticks which had existed since the early 70s, vibration build in was another natural progression for home controllers. Nintendo already had the rumble pack and force feedback had been a staple in arcades.
Nintendo were first with the rumble pack, true, but Sony were the first to build it into the controller, and they still get credit for releasing the first controller with dual analogue sticks.
And there's no denying that PS2 & PS3 at the very least helped DVD & Blu Ray to reach more people. Hell Microsoft backed HD-DVD which could've become the mainstream choice yet it still lost to Blu Ray and i'd say some part of that is thanks to every PS3 having a Blu Ray player as standard.
Like most things those features were logical progressions. Consumers dont see it but the really big things happen in the shadows. Kinect as a standalone consumer product might have failed but it is a huge succes in vertical markets and guess what Apple and Huawei use the technology in their phones. If you want to talk game changers, retroactively adding analog and rumble to controllers in a knee jerk reaction to competition is not a game changer or innovation. Kinect however is.
You are wrong about DVD and partially wrong about Blu Ray. DVD was everywhere when the PS2 launched from te backseat of cars(to
keep the kids quiet during long rides) to EVERY PC/Laptop being sold to home players and portables. People could buy a movie and literally had half a dozen devices in their possesion that could play that disc. Not so with Blu Ray, I know plenty of people who only have a console that can play the movies and thats it.
Another Inside Xbox I guess.I'm sure someone already asked, but why does he say next month if it's November? Is something happening in October preceding the big event?
Yeah, I assumed it was something like that. Thanks.
i even did a house party DJ gig with it. lol was hiliarous and such a good memory lol

2006. At X06, they announced:Wow, this is amazing news! That means we won't have to wait until E3 anymore for new Xbox game announcements! When was the last time they had an X0 event? 2010?
