Show looks adorable. I had never heard of the graphic novel series until I saw the trailer, but I could instantly tell that they were trying to mimic the original source's style and they nailed it.

Yaay a Hilda |OT|! If nothing was up I was going to throw one together tomorrow morning (mostly cause I really feel this show deserves more attention), so you saved me a lot of work, thanks!

Looks like this has the makings to be a really good show.

Haven't seen any episodes yet, hope to watch some tonight before I go to bed.

Watched the first 6 episodes with the SO its really charming and cute some genuine wholesome moments, artstyle is the best part some small coner cutting methods used but it never distracts.

I'm through 4 episodes so far. Love it. Especially the artsyle and how it mimicks the graphic novels so well.

Why doesn't Netflix do more stuff like this?

Starting episode 3 with the kids in a few minutes after bath time. Can't wait. I love the aesthetic of this show, as well as the music and storytelling and world.

I'll be getting the graphic novels for my six-year-old for Christmas. Or at least the first one or two of them.

Watched the first couple episodes and its a brilliant show full of moments of wonders and melancholy to a wonderful art style and musical score. Great stuff.

Episodes 3 and 4 didn't seem to have the same whimsy or unconventional narrative as the first 2 for me, probably because of the location change, but they were still good.

Watched the first episode tonight. Is this show the most adorable thing ever! It's downright gorgeous, the artstyle is really unique and well executed. The premise of all these weird monsters is very interesting, and it packs just so much charm! The score seems also very well done, it has some electronic bits which I love. I'm glad I clicked on it! I never even knew it existed until half an hour ago!

I'm looking forward to show this to my little sister. She's 8 and I think she could like it.

Also, is it weird if this show reminds me a lot of Celeste, the game? The mountain setting, the female protagonist who seems fearless and adventurous, and just the cuteness of it all.

This was the most delightful TV surprise of the year for me so far. I'm shocked it's not getting more attention here and elsewhere. The animation is absolutely gorgeous and the fantastic plots are so sincerely charming it's hard not to enjoy. Coming off the rather boring Dragon Prince pilot this was a much needed burst of color.

I really hope we get another season and soon. I hope it encourages Netflix to explore more shows like this as well.

fantastic show. woodman reminds me of the narrator from Bastion, but I couldn't confirm when I was searching.

Where's Hilda's accent from? It's so cute!

Also, the 3rd episode made me appreciate the little things in my own city a bit more!

This show is 100% getting a Mondo OST release. Just seems like the type of show that would.

Where's Hilda's accent from? It's so cute!

It's a sort of Southern British (South of London) accent - pretty much a typical little girl's accent before they properly develop their region's dialect. Funnily enough, I feel like it doesn't suit her. Still enjoying the show regardless and have got used to it now.

Like, how old is Hilda? Did she just not get proper education for her whole infancy, lol. Drawing rock trolls doesn't count! What a careless mother she has smh.

Which two? What was tough about storyboarding this show?
Most shows are 11min and even when its 22, you split that up.
This one they wanted us to do everything alone which is great and really daunting because of the pressure and work load (it takes 2months to board one episode).
It's also not that common to have a TV show that wants to be this cinematic. As a board artist, you have to be very careful about shots and animation for budget reasons normally.
This one, they just wanted to tell the best story.

I boarded episode 5 and 8. Five was really tough because its set in one room. Really hard to figure out the angles and cutting.

Great work! It's beautiful and alive!
Thanks a lot!

What year is Hilda set on? I've seen old CRT TVs, tape, but also what kind of looked like a "modern" printer (episode 8), so I can't tell!
We never got a specific year, if you have read the comics, that is basically what we went back on in terms of BIBLE.
It's more of an aesthetic choice then a very specific one (from what I have heard and seen, Luke might be VERY SPECIFIC if you ask him).

Saw a few episodes and it's very cute and nice. Gives off a particularly Moomin-esque vibe at times.

I started rewatching Hilda today, this time with my little sister. Keep in mind that I just never do this, but Hilda is a damn exception. So, my sister is 8, and we're on episode 3 by now, and she's deeply engrossed with the show so far, captivated and invested on the weird creatures that inhabit this mysterious world! She thinks Wood Man is very rude, and she was in awe from how tall the giants looked like. The artstyle and the cuteness of it all helps too.

We had to stop at the middle of Episode 3, and she was actually sad that we couldn't continue, and that she would have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to continue watching it with me (because I said we had to watch it together, as an incentive for a family activity).

It's so great to be able to connect with her via this show. Unfortunately, it's a rare occasion, she usually just watches these annoying "teenager" pseudo-sitcoms, Lab Rats from Disney and the like. When she watched actual children cartoons, none of those were deep enough to have me interested as well. I tried to get her into Gravity Falls, but she doesn't get the jokes and thinks it's too confusing. This way it's an amusing experience for the both of us!

Fantastic job! 8 is my favorite episode and 5 had tons of action and energy.

Seen this popping up on Netflix and the quality of the animation drew me in. My daughter is only two so I don't think she'd enjoy it and my partner isn't really into animation much but these impressions have sold me on it.

It shows, I mean I've only seen the trailer twice (trying to convince my partner the second time lol she may yet come around) but it really looked stunning

Finished it and started it right back up again with my kids. My six-year-old loved it. There is so much heart and wonder in this show. I'm telling everyone I know about it.

This show has also introduced me to the indie pop stylings of Canadian singer-songwriter Grimes.

Looking forward to another season!

Watched 3 episodes at home and really enjoyed it. Then I watched most of episode 1 at school with my class (3rd grade, age 7-8). They loved it! We usually watch a series while they eat their lunch, and gonna make Hilda a Friday thing I think, as it was so popular.

Finished up to episode 7 earlier! Really loving the show. It's so nice and wholesome, and the colors are so damn soothing and beautiful to look at.
