Apple Store has exact Series 4 in stock that I ordered at preorder day and my order isn't coming in for a while. I'm about to just buy this in store and cancel my order.

I once almost missed making new personal best on a run, because it took the watch almost 10 seconds to recognize me tapping the "PAUSE" button. Laggy UI in combination with the fact that you can't change a workout after the fact (changing time / distance to the actual, official net race time and distance) is a huge pain in the butt.

Yeah, I've had times where it's taken 30 seconds for the Workout app just to open. My series 0 is purely for notifications, and even that I just trim to messages and weather updates (And fitness tracking when I'm actually going to the gym, but it's not a pleasant experience). Was ready to upgrade when Series 3 came out but felt it didn't go far enough, Series 4 was just the refresh I needed to put me over the edge, that fact that I can actually use apps will be like getting a whole new device.

Yup, at the 1k mark, i was at 900m. At the 2k, i was at 1,900, at 5k i was at 4,900 and so on ... sucks, because my HM isn't a proper HM now, but rather "just" a 21km run :D

My watch is bound to arrive on Friday. Can't wait.
My green leather case should be arriving tomorrow. Similarly eager to replace that $10 flimsy plastic garbage case i'm currently using.
yup. Will probably not run today (been a rough week at the gym). Will either 5K next Wednesday, or skip the gym a day early next week to test out 5K. HAVE TO do it at work because I've done enough runs that I know around where my series 0 will notify me of 1.55mi (halfway) and where it will notify me of complete. Want to see how the series 4 compares.

My series 0 lasted for 3.5 years. no complaints at all. But going to the series 4 is almost like going to a completely different watch/brand/company/etc. aside from the same look of the UI.

Yeah, I've had times where it's taken 30 seconds for the Workout app just to open.
being that I workout 5-6 times a week.... I literally feel your frustration.

press the crown (instant)
tap workout (instant)
wait 2-3 seconds for the list to appear.
hope that my workout is first. otherwise 2-4 seconds to be able to scroll the list.
tap the workout. nothing.
tap the workout. nothing.
wait a second or two.
tap the workout. box goes gray for a second.
countdown pops up. 3.2.1 perfect.
workout starts. clock registers 0:01 about 5-10 seconds into the workout
workout registers my first heart rate about 20-30 seconds into the workout
registers my first calories about 40-50 seconds into the workout.

now I DO KNOW that all of this lag is the display of the app. Because if you go into various stats.. stats show up in the minute that you start it.. but yeah. it got to the point where I just cared about recording my calories, recording my splits for run, but not taking them as any sort of authority... just using them to compare to previous splits and times recorded by the watch.

man I've never verbalized how frustrating my series 0 was, especially for the only thing I ended up using it for... oh well... :( still at 3.5 years (I pre-ordered it) it served me well enough. but yeah, the series 4 after only two days is easily the most impressive wearable that I am aware of.

There's one at my local store, but I think I'm going to wait for the XS Max to be available as well. Going to the Apple Store sometimes is like going to Disneyworld.

Totally.
The only bummer is the fact that i can't - with good conscience - give the watch to someone else (like, i don't know ... my mom, i guess) because battery life, as well as the entire user experience is just so sub par. So, realistically, it's pretty much bound to go in the drawer.
Unlike a 3 year old iPhone, that you can easily resell / give away and it's still a very much functional device.

Yep. My only annoyances so far:

- The "black" sport band isn't actually black (Anyone want to buy a brand new 44mm one?) I stayed with my knockoff band lol
- No "Raise to wake" setting to always show watch face
- Some 3rd-party complications can't be used on the new faces yet
- I can't find a bumper so I'm still using my 42mm Modal one

I think it's sufficient for just tracking activity lol

not sure what you mean by number 2.

number 3 (assuming you mean the infographic complications) is because it's an entirely new type of complication. it's called like a progress bar complication or something and devs need to use that type to make their complications accessible on the corners of infographic. funny enough auto sleep already updated so that one is available. But yeah like Pokemon won't show up there, but WILL show up for ones inside the clock face.

I sold mine for $25. I told him he's going to need a battery.. so it's $105 total ($80 for the battery). Not 100% sure on the value there. a series 2 still goes for like $200.. so I guess.. if you really want to save $100 right now (it's also a stainless steel), it can perform ok (though not great) as a fitness tracker. and notifications (my other main use, along with timer).. but yeah, it's DEFINITELY a gen 1 apple product. right up there with iPhone and iPad first gens. revolutionary, but gen 2 was such leaps and bounds past it.

I wish some watch apps that companies discontinued due to low use would come back now that the apps are useable finally

Yup, that's why my wife is just getting a Series 4, she's never had an Apple Watch but my 0 is not in good enough shape to let her have while I upgrade and enjoy this amazing new experience.

My 0 will go in my box of old electronics that I'll never throw out.

Is Apple not offering any recycle value? I got $115 for my series 2.

i have no idea. There never was a need to figure all that stuff out, because usually, Apple devices are the perfect hand-me-downs ... but i'd rather strip the AppleWatch for it's accessories (watch band, charger) this time around.
Where can i check the recycle value?

€45 here, without watchband and charger. Might take that deal. Thanks for letting me know of that option, i guess!

Fuck yes my local apple store has them in stock, picking one up today. They didn't say what I need to bring for my series 3 trade in - do I need the charger and box and stuff?

Haha, wow. That blows! Do we know if the new Siri APIs means we could get real, actual Siri integration from Spotify, or are we limited to, like, Shortcuts?

Shortcuts for now. So they can do what like Overcast does, which is tie Siri shortcuts to certain commands that you specify ahead of time (ie "hey Siri resume Spotify") or certain playlists (ie "hey Siri play my rock out playlist") but shortcuts can't do any variable passing of it's own.

Overcast really shows how viable this is:

Spotify actually hired the guy that was making the watch app, but progress went silent as soon as that happened.

People are speculating that we might see something soon thanks to the new integrations, but it's all speculation at this point.

I have a Apple Series 3 and just got Series 4. How do I transfer everything from my Series 3 to Series 4 and to make sure all my activity data carries over?

And I plan on giving the Series 3 to my mom. Do I just wipe it clean after and then sync it to her and her iPhone?

I am very excited!

Are you keeping the same phone as you used with your S3? And do you have a cellular plan attached?

Snagged a space grey 44mm from an in-store pickup this morning! Always check the stock in Apple stores in the morning if the online wait time discourages you. Now to finally replace my creaking Series 0.

Saw this post on the top of a new page and feared you were talking about the 4, but relieved it was for the 0 haha. Same as me, pretty much don't use any apps on it thanks to the lag and load time.

All of the data is on your phone, not the watch; I had to borrow my wife's watch for a week when mine needed repairs (and eventually an exchange) and it was as simple as pairing her watch to my phone.

You may want to look up how to back up your watch before you attempt this but I'm pretty sure it has to do with pairing and unpairing.

Go to the Apple Watch app. Click on the option at the top that shows your watch. Click the "i" info button at the right. Select "Unpair Apple Watch." It will take a few minutes and it backs up your old watch to your phone. When that's done, power up your new watch, and pair it with your phone. It'll ask you if you want to restore from the backup of your old watch that it just did when it un-paired. Do that. All your activity data will carry over. Done!

When you un-pair your old watch it will be ready to pair with a new phone so you can give it to someone else and none of your data will be on it.

How match faster is the series 4 compared to the series 2?

I upgraded from the S2, and the S4 is very fast. For me it's most noticeable when raising to wake and look at texts (they pop up right away instead of having a small delay), switching watch faces, and especially when dismissing notifications w/a force press on the screen. Really any time I felt my S2 was lagging is gone on the S4. It's incredibly snappy.

If you have health set to sync to iCloud that covers 99% of your watch data anyway.
Except when it glitches during the restore, costing you your 300 day move streak, with every level of Apple support unable to help.

Very. Apps that open in 10+ seconds on the Series 2 open instantly on the Series 4.

I guess I got used to how slow my series 2 is at opening anything, can't wait for that instant start for apps now

I plan on migrating only after earning the move goal for the day, only way to be sure to have time to revert back to the old watch if something terrible goes wrong.

523 days and counting here.

So I ordered mine through Verizon, wife's watch said anticipated ship date 10/7 and my watch 11/7, my order status hasn't changed in a week,, just says that it's been received and is processing but low and behold I get an email from UPS that I have a package coming tomorrow from Verizon. So I'm thinking that it could be my wife's watch but I'm holding out hope that maybe both watches are in the package since Verizon hasn't given me any kind of update.

Question is the package description says 1.6 lbs, wonder If it's posisble 2 watches are in there. We'll see tomorrow

If your phone dies on the way to breakfast through no fault of your own (it cooked itself to death, was scary) you don't always get the choice. I've only had the watch since S3.

My dad got the 44mm S4 this week and he's already accidentally dialed 911 like 4 times because the "hold side button to call" is turned on by default (?) and the button is pretty sensitive. I know he's a clumsy baby boomer and all but that's a really stupid feature to have activated out of the box. Apple goes overboard with the H E A L T H Y L I F E S T Y L E stuff sometimes.

In other news, Brightstar finally approved my S3 trade in ($225) and I sold my other 38mm bands on ebay so will be getting a 40mm S4 once the gift card hits.

Okay I gotta ask... how? The button is flush against the side, it's not even that easy to push. If I bend my wrist all the way back it doesn't even come close to pushing that button.

Yeah, i have no idea how he can accidentally hold the button for 10 seconds without letting go.
Also, the watch starts vibrating like crazy and even makes an alert sound before actually making the call... - i just tried.
