Forget politics and where you lean or stand on issues. How the fuck can you hire someone who watches that train wreck and thinks to themselves "This is a smart person". The only person who would think that is dumber than Trump is.

They don't actually listen to Trumps words directly, they listen to other people talking about Trump, spinning and filtering on Fox, AM talk radio, etc. Being at least one step removed from the source allows for a metric shitton of bullshit to continue without having to actually confront it.
