There are a lot of people on this forum who should eat crow, but will instead just avoid these threads like the plague, because they know that some of us remember the dumb shit they said.
Lol naw cousin we're here. It's the internet not the hood. We're were wrong, but unless Gun Era personally has a problem with my stance I'm be in here like swimwear.

This feels more like a forced business decision and less like an attitude or mindset shift. Hopefully this is the first sign that they're shaking off some of that "arrogance" that seemed to be setting in again.

We'll see if they continue the trend.

I mean, in the OP, it says its a policy change. This is a mindset shift. Yes money is involved but it isn't that far removed from an entire structure change in the company. This cannot just be undone, so it would have to keep moving forward.

So this is an 18 page thread so sorry if this has been answered already but is there any indication if people who already made burner accounts on Switch can hook up their Epic account and bring over all their progress and items?

The fortnite twitter posted that they're working on an account merger that will let people who made accounts like that combine everything. Which is still pretty awesome.

Good, now I don't have to read people whining every day about evil Sony while MS still requires Xbox Live Gold to even play Fortnite.
I know a guy who - putting it lightly - is an Xbox fanatic, and he says it's the usual bullshit from Sony because they allow you play it for free while Xbox doesn't.

It's a bad thing, you see.

Well done Sony for responding, late to the party but here at last! Welcome. Check out the future, it's pretty nice eh!

Equally, thanks to the folk at Epic, Psyonix and Bethesda as well as the contingent of folk here and at other site who all kept the fires stoked and the pressure on. Good job all.

As someone who has been playing games for what feels like forever, this feels like a moment that - if embraced - could be monumental for the future of online play. I sure hope so. Life moves so fast we really don't need to worry about these artificial barriers to the simple act of playing games together. The more real friendship groups that can be involved online, be created online and be sustained online the better. It has so many positive effects directly within the specific games community and beyond.

Today folks is a Good Day.

I'm still shocked people cared and shocked they did it but happy for people who cared.
This site as made clear by the poll the other day is very single player focused. So it's not surprising to hear that people here thought no one cared. But ask kids in a jr highschool or highschool where everyone has different consoles. This is a dream come true for the multiplayer community at large.

Hell it's front page MSN right now.

I do wonder if Sony's "figuring out a way" was them just realizing that Xbox and Nintendo are about to sell a shit ton of Fortnite bundles.

You weren't supposed to listen to the consumers, arrogant Sony! Now wtf are we supposed to do with our lives now that we can't have this thing to complain about? We'll find something, just you wait!

Microsoft are still doing this for a game that is free on every other platform lol? I don't care what their MP policy is, free to play means free to play. Straight up bullshit.

It's hilarious to see people seemingly only care about people previously giving sony crap over this while still not caring about crossplay/progression at all. You can just not post ya know, your company will be ok.

What a pleasant surprise to wake up to. Hopefully Rocket League happens shortly. I wonder when the first AAA release will have cross play. Something along the lines of Call of Duty. I figured Sony would cave, but I didn't expect it to be this soon. I expected it to be closer to the release of the PS5. Hmm, maybe that's happening sooner than people expect? =)

This is great news! Hopefully they expand it to fighting games. The community needs it the most probably out of any game. It's good to see the collective complaints helped make the change and that, even though it was stubbornly, Sony decided to finally begin to listen. I don't really care the reason either as long as I get this crossplay DBFZ one day.

The hell are you talking about? Locking my account without my permission was absolutely worth complaining about. When you resolve anti-consumer issues you dissolve complaints towards your company. How transparent can you be?

Anyways, just played my first match on my main account(which is an account that I originally started on PS4 with a physical copy) on Switch and it felt awesome. I would have made a new non-ps4 account and built up progress on that as soon as this issue came about but I have too much on my main account including skull trooper and black knight.

Sadly, will have to wait til November at the latest.
Ahh. I don't need the second account, I literally only used it to play with friends (no battle pass on PS4, or cosmetics, v-bucks, etc). Could I just unlink it on epics site and delete and reinstall fortnite? Then log in with my switch and pc epic account?

For players who created an extra account to play Fortnite on multiple console platforms, we're working on two things:

1) An account-merging feature to combine Battle Royale purchases, coming in November.

2) Enabling unlinking a console from one Fortnite account, and relinking to another Fortnite account. Coming in a few days

Getting all my stuff in one place is going to be great.

Epic is being awesome.

Don't even need to delete/reinstall, just log into the epic account attached to your switch(log in on a web browser on pc on the epic site) and you can disconnect from there. After that boot up fortnite on switch and re-login on your main and previously locked account.

Getting my Overwatch stuff on PC would be great too. And Destiny. And rocket league.

Cross progression needs to happen.

The best part about all of this is the potential for other multiplayer titles to enable cross play with all available platforms.

Imagine the next hyped up and anticipated multiplayer title to LAUNCH with cross play on all platforms. The numbers could be absolutely insane.

The future is bright people.

The unlinking of a PSN account from an Epicgames account is what doesn't work right now. That's why you have to wait.

Nobody is eating anything or avoiding the thread. Like before, we didn't care whether or not Sony supported crossplay. We just understood why they didn't want to. You and every other pacifier age entitled gamers can think our post were "dumb shit". We have the right to express our opinions on the matter just like everyone else.

Sorry you don't like hearing opposing "dumb shit" views. It must be terrible for people like you real world.

I don't know why people have to "eat crow". This is a good thing. I don't own a PS4. I don't expect any company to do this across the board but to do it for games like Fortnite or Rocket League seems like it's a plus for the gamers. The plastic vs. plastic thing is pretty exhausting, to be honest.

Imagine reacting to these great news for all consumers with a dumb snarky post full of persecution complexes. Just imagine.
By the way how to know if the players you are playing with are from PC, Switch or Xbox One?
There is icons in the party that show each platform.

I'm still shocked so many people don't care, and don't see this as a huge leap for online gaming. This is literally only a good thing.

I do wonder if Sony's "figuring out a way" was them just realizing that Xbox and Nintendo are about to sell a shit ton of Fortnite bundles.

I wasn't against it (that would be weird) it just didn't make sense to me why so many people seemed to care.

When I was a kid me and my friends would basically decide at the start of the gen which console to get so we could share games/play whatever online. Even as an adult me and my best friend bought the same console to avoid any issues.

I had always assumed other friend group did the same thing.

I think a lot of us do the same thing, but there's usually still some split in larger groups, especially as you get older and fewer friends game often (at least in my experience). I have a few friends who play primarily on XBOX and a few friends who play primarily on PS4 and then one family member who only plays on Switch. I've been on PS4 since day 1 with Fortnite BR, so I'm thrilled that I'll be able to play with friends and family more easily now.

Also, I own all three platforms, so even if cross-play was never going to happen, what I really wanted was cross-progression so I can play Fortnite on my main account portably on Switch or play with friends on XBOX using my main account if cross-play hadn't come along.

bloody dammit double post delayed.

Wonder what forced Sony to actually break. it was not this gen cause they are set on stone and no publisher could threaten em. so I wonder if this saw this being a problem once the new gens started??
