I do not understand the people who take EZA shows super seriously, lol

Alliances are great and I am all on board for anti-chips!

Plus the right games got in so the system works. :)

Likewise, I love it.

I didn't have chat up for most of the stream and thankfully didn't spot the alphabetical thing - real shame for anyone who did and I hope Damiani remembers to randomise it next time.

+1 for me. The salt from anti-chips...oh man.

Say what you will about Kyle and his tactics but he's gotten Pokemon and Tetris now, in the span of a year? Not too shabby!

I think if there are going to be a bunch of alliances, regardless of their effectiveness in this HoG, it would completely ruin the entire thing.

Also, anti-votes sound mean-spirited and not in the spirit of the pageantry.

Some spoilers for Hall of Greats ahead

I was just thinking through past Halls of Greats, and amidst the saltiness of Jones failing at every hurdle and Don's 'unique' picks, I think a lot of us (and them) have failed to realise someone else who has not had a personal victory at HoG: Huber.

It's easy to bypass this because of the double-victory of RE: Remake and RE4 at HoG 5, given that this was certainly an emotional victory for Huber, but on that occasion he did not bring either games. In fact, on the only occasion where he brought Remake (HoG 1), it received 0 votes. This was of course before the year-long ban rule was instigated, and several of the Allies (including Huber) were absent from voting.

The games Huber has brought are as follows:

RE: Remake
Dragon Quest VIII
The Last of Us
Streets of Rage 2
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Time Crisis 2
Batman: Arkham City

It's time to get on the Huber Hype train once again. Let's get our boy that win in 2018 - give him all of your energy come December! (Also Don, baby.)

I would've voted

3 chips: Tetris
2 chips: Final Fantasy VI
1 chip: Mortal Kombat (for the t-shirt alone)

So, I'm really happy with the result this time. Ian reusing his old presentation was lame, should've gotten zero votes, similar to Blood's Journey presentation back then.

I want someone to do an alliance and then just not do it. *evil grin*

Actually, I would also say everybody doing alliances ruins the Hall of Greats and shifts the focus. The "evil" Allies doing it, is fun tho and Anti-chips should be a thing either way, at least as a test. :D"

Edit: I personally think the whole cross-play debate was a huge non-story to begin with so I glad they missed it. *evil grin*²

Edit #2:

I would have voted...
1. Bloodborne
---
2. Halo
---
---
3. Tetris

Alliances changed literally nothing this time around, so I don't get the hate. However I'd like for them to not go overboard, because if everyone allies with someone else, there could be some weird results coming in.

Anti-votes are a terrible idea IMHO.

Would've voted:

3 chips - FFVI
2 chips - Halo: Combat Evolved
1 chip - Tetris

Honorable mention: Bloodborne (because I've yet to finish it).

Arkham City, SH2, Mrs. Pacman, Mortal Kombat IX haven't played. Mario RPG is terribly overrated: Paper Mario 1&2 and Superstar Saga have done everything that game did, but better.

Just finishing Hall of Greats, and it's great to watch as usual. I think alliances are a mistake, because they are made off camera, depriving us of the drama and leaving us instead with a betrayal payoff. In Survivor it creates intrigue because we see the alliances being made, and are in on the proceeding when the voting happens. With them coming in (and almost non mentioned) at the time of voting is just feels empty, and doesn't reward the right games and presentations.

I really think the alliance thing irks the whole process.. even if tetris would have not changes the alliance makes me look down on its inclusion.

and the rest of the allies weren't happy either, it was clear after the results

Wait, are some of you implying Tetris isn't worthy to be one of Greats? I mean, Tetris of all games? O_o

Not only it had a colossal impact on gaming, it's still as great as the day it came out, its gameplay did not age at all, and it's probably still the best (action) puzzle game ever conceived.

I do not think the outcome of today has anything to do with the "hate" (I think that word gets thrown out alot for what basically boils down to disagreements on certain ruling lol...) of the alliances. There is a scenario, where the majority votes for predetermined games without knowing the games, thus making the presentation- and voting-part of the HoG a farce. As of this point, I do not agree that that is a likely scenario and I think the upside of having backroom shady deals going on balances the "unfair" nature of it all out, but to handwave the alliance-ruling just away as if there weren't possibilities to ruin the original feel of the show is similarily silly in my mind.

Man, I'd love it if it was all deals and then they find out and react at the end. Doubly so if the worst game someone brought got in.

Yeah Tetris is up there with Ocarina as the most essential entry in HOG. Tetris is similar to video games as Chess is to board games.

I don't think anyone is saying that

Don't wanna get HoG spoilers but just wanted to say this guy is like Ian and Kyle combined:

Totally agree, this type of humor feels the most compellingly unusual and funny since I originally discovered the later stuff on GT. This guy's previous show on Polygon, Week in Revue, also had a degree of continuing lore and original characters (Scrundler for example, as someone earlier on this page pointed out), and it was really cool to see that area of games-related content and humor filled with some other talented folks since Final Bosman went off-air.

I don't normally post here, but I am curious --- is there any kind of expected premiere date for Box Peek?

Now finishing up with HoG. Alliances make the whole presentations ultimately pointless, although it is fun to watch them bicker about it.

Ian seems to have a hard time understanding how dramatic reveals work. Calling out ALL the losers first? And he kept arguing for it. Come on, man.

Glad Halo didn't make it, although it will do eventually obviously. Never been able to get into those games.

"Why has Bloodborne not made it yet?"
"Because you're all bastards!"

Truer words were never spoken.

I think I've only played Pokemon and
Tetris
out of all the Hall of Greats. I'd like to see some modern ones that are also truly great. I'm thinking like Call of Duty 4 or something. Game changer.

Just finished watching the VOD and I agree with the winners, though I think Ian's submission should have received more votes.

Just finished HOG. Great fun and deserved wins. The alliances are getting annoying tbh. Not cause it would change much of the votes, but they are simply not fun to watch or cool. The bit is over... i dont get the hate, but i dont get what makes it fun to watch neither.

If I'm voting it's definitely:

3: Tetris
2: Super Mario RPG
1: Mortal Kombat

Even with the deals, the insanity, the votes, every game inducted into the Hall of Greats has been very worthy. I've played them all and each are among the best games ever made. The Easy Allies will have a hell of a top 100 games of all time when it's all said and done . Maybe one day they'll ask themselves to rank the Hall of Great winners.

The one game I'm pretty shocked the Allies don't seem familiar with is Mario RPG. That is absolutely one of the greatest games ever made as well. Hopefully it comes back someday.

My personal votes would have been, ff6 3 coins, Mario RPG 2 coins, and Tetris 1 coin.

EZ Afternoons! Right after the Kinda Funny Morning Show and Kinda Funny Games Daily, with your hosts Ian Hinck and Michael Huber.

Even though it doesn't seem to be the exact direction they're looking to take their studio usage I feel like something like the Games Daily and Morning Show that Kinda Funny are by helped in great part that they've got a central area that each of them go to each day of the week, so that they're consistently in the same place each day. One of the main obstacles to that now (and honestly probably going forward even with a studio) is that the Allies come together on Tuesdays, and occasionally one or two other days of the week, but otherwise are all doing their own thing. I think there's already been discussion in the extreme about yearning for a type of studio setup the Allies aren't likely to be going for, but it's so cool to see the Kinda Funny content where they will shout down the hallway and another person from the team might jump in to talk about a certain subject or chime in on news. Hopefully we get at least a little bit more of a space for allies to do all sorts of cool new production stuff with the studio.

The Allies themselves take it seriously or they wouldnt do these presentations. They care about it. But mainly, the alliances aren't entertaining for me. It was fun in the beginning with Mega Man Legens but now, it's just lame

Maybe they should take it more seriously and make more alliances to make sure they win.
