I am reading the Metal Gear Solid V Wikipedia and I am a bit surprised that the game is also on last gen (Xbox 360 and PS3).
So technically, it's totally possible to be on Nintendo Switch. And I can't stop thinking about it. I would totally buy it again for the mobile experience. I really hope Konami doesn't hate money and just port it over.

Also it got me thinking. Are there any other cross gen game that is totally possible on Nintendo Switch you hope will get a Nintendo Switch port?

I mean, if Doom is on the Switch then surely pretty much anything is possible on the system with a bit of work.

Kingdom Hearts: all of them.

The big hurdle for III before was Unreal Engine, but that's overcome now. No reason the whole series can't come over.

There's a lot of last-gen stuff that should get ports. Wolfenstein TNO. GTAV. Some decent racing titles so the Switch has a few of those. And on the subject of Metal Gear, standing here, I realise...

There were so many cross-gen games this time, it started to feel too much at one point.

A bunch of Assassin's Creeds were, and it feels odd that not a single one has hit Switch given Ubisoft's relationship with Nintendo.

Definitely not true. Doom was 60fps on base PS4 and XBO, so there was a lot of headroom to make a 30fps Switch version.

Trying to convert 30fps PS4/XBO games would be much more difficult if not impossible in a lot of sitiations.

Maybe is a bit difficult because it runs on fox engine, and i dont know if it already supports the switch

How do you know it's technically possible?

i can't answer that question but it's worth pointing out that the switch is a far more capable console than the ps3/xbox360, so even if it wasn't great on ps3 the switch would add a lot of room for potential improvement.

I've always thought last-gen stuff was gonna be the sweet-spot for big third party releases on Switch and I'm kinda surprised that hasn't been more of a trend than it has.

As far as cross-gen, MGSV and GTAV are my biggest wishes. Shadow of Mordor was also cross-gen. The game bored me after a while but it could potentially be a lucrative re-release on Switch.

As far as pure last-gen goes: Dishonored, Borderlands collection, the Fallouts, Mass Effect trilogy, the Batman games would be an awesome start.

Not really, DOOM and Wolf TNC both needed to have their framerates sliced in half, and even after that their visual quality was hacked down brutally. I would say that for a modern next-gen game to work on the Switch, it would at the very least need to be one that started at 60fps.

It was worse.

People really love to disregard that little bit about Doom on the Switch.

Calling it 30fps is generous, too.

2 and 3 are on the Shield so it's possible you'll get those on the Switch (if you don't already, I don't really keep up).

I don't think 3 could run acceptably, and I think that's what's holding them back from releasing the rest of the series on it, even though it would be a wonderful fit for those games.

Could you explain with more technical detai?

Well if Switch can get ports of current gen games like Doom or Wolfenstein then I imagine it ought to be possible that it can get a port of a last generation title.

Nothing MGSV does should be impossible with a system that has BOTW on it.

It ran on the Xbox 360 and ps3 . The switch has more resources and power than either.

I personally don't think it would be worth the effort though. Just because it's technically possible doesn't mean there would be no work to be done to make that egine and dev environment work with new hardware.

All games are technically possible on Switch hardware. If the publisher/dev is willing to take the time/effort

I think 90% of game being released "could" run on switch. We've seen some marvels on the system (Doom, Wolf., War frame, Cities Skyline (not graphically intensive, but high end computers even run in janky at higher populations)) to name a few. I think the main draw back is developer investment. WWE ran janky because the developer didn't invest into the Switch Port. But, If 2k put more time/money into the game it could have ran well (I believe).

So with that said... I fully believe that 90% of games COULD be ported, with downgraded graphics and proper porting. Call of duty? Yup. Battlefield V. Yup. Anthem? I bet the lowest setting on PC could run on Switch.

The list goes on, but the question is "Does the invest have a positive return?" If EA decided they were going to port Battlefield V to switch for 5 Million (random number) but only expect 50K copies sold on the system... It wouldn't make business sense to do that.

My 2c.

I don't think it would happen but yeah, it could run pretty well on switch, 30fps and better image quality than PS360. Anyone who played the game on PC knows how well Fox Engine can be optimized.

It would be so addicting to have that game on the go lol

I mean, Snake is getting attention right now from Nintendo fans in Smash Bros. So if Konami wants to ride that wave like Square with Final Fantasy and Capcom with Mega Man, that would be nice.

I'm shocked Ubisoft haven't thrown in a Assassin Creed game yet. Hell they even released on on Vita.

Add a Shiek costume and call it a day.

Diablo got Ganondorf
Skyrim got Link

Why can't people understand this simple logic. You need to look at things deeper than ''it looks pretty''.

It's one of the many cross-gen games we had, so it should be possible, yes. Others include:
- Destiny 1
- Call Of Duty: Ghosts and Advanced Warfare
- Plants VS Zombies: Garden Warfare 1
- Battlefield 4
- Watch_Dogs
- Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag
- Rise Of The Tomb Raider
- Wolfenstein: The New Order
- Thief
- Grand Theft Auto V
All these games and many more got very competent last-gen versions, so technically there are no hurdles to see them on the Switch. Whether they will arrive or not is another matter entirely.

All it took was one post to bring out the pedants...

I guess people who believe the earth is not flat are just pedants as well.

Cool to see you people are self aware

Oh, forgot about Tomb Raider. That could be a good possibility. And the Plants vs Zombies series just seems like a logical fit.
