Before everyone loses their mind, let's think for a minute:

Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is coming exclusively to PS4 on 26th October 2018.

Symphony of the Night & Rondo of Blood is coming exclusively to PS4, on 26th October 2018.

These are two very different sentences. One implies it's only exclusive upon release, the other implies full exclusivity.

I got my whining out on twitter so I don't have to dump itt, whew.

I'm really looking forward to seeing if there are any differences here, especially in SoTN. I'm almost certain these are the PSP DXC versions here, SoTN's border is the same as DXC at least and in this one screenshot available on the website:
2018_x_son_rob_11.jpg

It shows something native to the psp version despite the dialogue being the exact same; Alucard's portrait is flipped to face the right. In the original PS1 release he's facing the left.

So that means PSP translation. No DIE MONSTER, no WHAT IS A MAN, and no sweet dulcet tones of Robbie Belgrade as Alucard. :'(
Edit: BUT you do get to play as Maria! So yay for that.

Don't care if I will be preoccupied with RDR2 I will get this day 1. SoTN is one of the best games every made and I'm super excited to play Rondo of Blood. Konami keep doing this if you want to be relevant again. They're sitting on so many awesome IP's that deserve to come back.

Nah both are based on the original releases according to PSblog. Not the awful PSP versions thankfully.

3D arena + blank background ≠ 2D pixel art drawn with 4:3 in mind. Not just that, but SOTN simply wouldn't work given its rooms were made with that ratio in mind.

It would definitely work in true widescreen, you would just need to tweak camera travel when hitting edges.

You can't say it wouldn't work, Harmony of Despair mostly copy pasted a SOTN map in one of its chapters

Fuck yeah, Rondo of Blood. For $20, Symphony is a nice enough bonus too, I guess. Hopefully we get a physical release.

Nah it's based on the original releases of both according to PSblog.
I caught that but would they really make the same small changes like the portrait flip and the formatting of that particular sentence if they were using the original?
Format matches the psp version too.

I've played both and there nothing wrong with the PSP version. Especially since it's have more content the the PS1 release but we can't have that now can we. Frankly I'm amazed there even bothering to include Rondo.

Love SotN. Not played it since the old 360 XBLA version came out.
Not really sure about previous ports and if emulation was a part of it then, but it's an interesting choice.

Looks like a lot of people are worried about exclusivity. Although Konami is more of an enigma now in how they behave, I'm fairly sure they are still all about money. As usual I would expect this is the same old exclusivity with several asterisks. The word has no meaning anymore in marketing material

Regardless after ZoE getting released, it's nice to see Konami try thing I might actually want to check out

Those aren't emulated. They're native ports that have been reverse engineered from the original NES versions.

I don't think that any collection of Nintendo console games, on a non-Nintendo platform, has ever actually used emulation; with the sole exception of Rare Replay (where Nintendo and Microsoft came to an agreement, one which also allowed the re-release of the DKC and DKL trilogies on the Wii U/3DS VC services).
Mega Man X Legacy Collection seems to have a SNES emulator, I haven't tried it myself but I've read on here that other SNES games can be injected.

Ah, ok :( But can't the PSP emulate PS1? ;)
theoretical it can, but technically it may won't.
the PSP and Vita has built in 3D rendering chip for PS1 games, the PS4 doesn't have that i think, but i think they can make emulator to pay PS1 games and include it in an update.

Oh so it really is the PSP collection just with the 3D remake of Rondo removed. Very Konami thing to do lol
