This pretty much confirms SOTN won't be included on the PS1 classic mini right? Seems like it could potentially pull attention away from this version or vice versa.

Either way I'm in. I loved SOTN. as long as it isn't some full priced nonsense .

Rondo is a seriously amazing game that was always a serious pain to play nowadays if you didn't have a PSP and didn't want to play the entirety of the awful Dracula X remake to unlock the original.

At least now people will understand who the heck was that guy at the beginning of SOTN.
Thanks for continuing into being positive, I really get your frustration but we can always celebrate the revive of a great franchise

I'm crying!
I'm so happy to see one of my favorite franchises return,,, And in 4K, hot damn.

EDIT: It would be cool if they added the extras from the Saturn version.

This Gen is fucking with my mind, everything I ever wanted is being released on my platform of choice.
Thank God that SOTN is the original and not the PSP one, i loved the original voice acting, and it seems that the slowdowns will be eliminated completely since this is optimized.
Cannot fucking wait.

Only game remaining on my scratch list now is: Final Fantasy Tactics
Gen of the forever

what's with the salt in this thread.

Consider this bought although i wonder whether is this the 'updated dialogue' psp version or the original 'a miserable pile of secrets' ps1 version

is it not allowed to trying to figure out the baffling choice of platforms ? That's the first thing that came in mind to anyone reading the news. Not talking about port begging but only "why"

This is really strange. You told me in the windjammers thread that there are alot of reasons for something to be exclusive. We had a thread ''Why aint there more third party switch exclusives''. I dont think this will stay exclusive but that's some fucking double standard right here.

Lol that it's exclusive, but I'll be happy to pick it up day 1 for the right price. Just in time for Halloween! I might want it physically, too...

In the meantime, I think Konami should go forward and release NES/SNES/GB/GBA Castlevania collection to Switch.

Well, could also be included in the PS1 Classic cause those versions of the PS1 games are the originals released on PS1 back then. They are not the rereleases on PSN or updated HD versions. For example, FFVII is the original PS1 version with the original format and localization. That version has yet to be on anything but PS1 and is in the original format. Not the PSN, PS4, or PC versions. So SotN is not out of the question.

As ridiculous as bomberman being exclusive. I assume it's gonna be the same and be 1 year exclusive.

Launch exclusives arent that surprising and it looked Bomberman only happened because of the Switch.
But yeah in general multiplattform makes more sense for all releases that can run on all viable systems.
Maybe they are going to do a Aria or Sorrow + Dawn of Sorrow exclusive Switch game next.
Would be as stupid...no reason for these old-ass games to not be on all systems lol.

I'm pretty sure you're again being completely obtuse and I'd explain you why is that but apparently mods don't want that here so I'm holding off.

As someone who has Dracula X Chronicles I just see no reason to get this.

It's Konami. SotN is 90% assured to be on Playstation Classic. This is just a cheep cash grab, and an excuse to not make another Castlevania when it doesn't meet their expectations.

another thing regarding the platinum..i am wondering how difficult can that platinum be....SOTN is pretty easy (the balance is tipped way too much in favor to Alucard). Rondo is pretty tough though.

Anyway I haven't played Rondo yet so I'm in if it's priced well

Was really hoping for a more comprehensive collection. If I want to replay SotN & Rondo, I've already got Dracula X Chronicles on my Vita.

Not interested in Castlevania games but the "Exclusive" in the thread title caught my eye so I had to comment on it - because just the other day in another thread, there were all those people explaining how exclusives were a dying thing... Yah right.

Considering i just wanted symphony on a modern system...no.

I'm sorry but this is like being excited about a port of Sonic 2. It's not that hard a game to find, so I just don't get it.

Compare this to the Mega Man Legacy Collections and even with Capcom chopping them in two you still got a better deal then this.

Wonder if they're gonna bother doing a "classic" castlevania collection that includes nes/snes games.

Salt aside, third party exclusives these days are stupid. At least, ones that can run on everything.

Trevor makes a cute "appearance" in SOTN!

He's also
a zombie version in one of the boss fights.

Although I don't condone exclusivity, the mod bias on this site is hilarious. Garbage thread

The PC Engine version wasn't available in the west on the original release in 1993. The NES version was compromised to accommodate the system, especially with the sound track.

At no point did I state it was never released in the west.
Actually the soundtrack is the best part about Dracula X, it's the level design that sucks

I hope there's an option to run Symphony of the Night at the original resolution. The 3d and scaled/rotated 2d objects are going to stand out weirdly next to the standard pixel art. You can see this briefly in the trailer when they show the Galamoth boss fight. On PS1 the pixels are a consistent size/angle for all objects due to the rendering resolution being the same as the pixel art. When you increase the resolution the aesthetic gets thrown off and you end up with a strange mix of clarity for different types of assets (see the material between the legs of the boss).

Yeah and then we got like two ports of the PC Engine version, so this really isn't special.
Not having to play through Dracula X Chronicles sounds like a good reason to me. Lol.

I liked it but whatever, opinions.

Rondo was exclusive to the Wii Shop... Until it came to PSP with an exclusive 3D port in tow.

Symphony was Exclusive to PS1... then Xbox 360 later on... Then PS Classics, and PSP, and... oy, back and forth.

This collection also actually has trophies. And a Platinum. That's still not a sure assumption for many a PS4 smaller digital release.

We're in a world where almost every "exclusive" retro compilation comes to other systems weeks or months later.

Heck, we have Ys and Phoenix Wright Games coming to the Xbox One! NES Roms on an XBO exclusive compilation. A once exclusive Genesis collection coming to the Switch, alongside Switch exclusive emulations from another distributer! Final Fantasies and Saga games releasing on everything under the sun.

----

Really, whatever has this "exclusive" for now... it probably won't last long. And whatever they do later will probably have Switch exclusive features (screen touch for inventory, Amiibo support, NES games added or places on the "Nintenflix" service at the same time, etc) and XB1 (Play Anywhere, premiering on Gamepass simultaneously, Special art for the Achievements, etc).

This release seems much less about Smash Promotion, and more about having the most recognizable games up SOMEWHERE to tie with the Netflix release. It's just a way to bank on the name. Is it the perfect storm to coincide with *everything* they have going on right now? Of course not. Is it a pretty "Konami" move,, with a sprinkle of "Sony is the lead platform this gen" tossed in for good measure? Most assuredly.

There's so many avenues to allow the release of the same thing in multiple ways now-a-days, I'm not sure why "exclusives" ruffle feathers much anymore.
